Last night I snagged an 9:25am ADR at Tusker House for tomorrow morning. We usually go earlier, but this is a last minute trip and I took what I could get. So, since the park opens at 9am, will we be stuck waiting for rope drop or can we get in earlier since we have a ressie? :confused3

If you arrive anywhere from 8:40 - 8:59 before official opening, you will not be allowed in as the park is closed for safety reasons for the rope drop ceremony at the Tree of Life. Your ADR is at 9:25, so they wouldn't let you in early anyway, as you wouldn't need to be there that early, plus, your ADR is after the park opens.

Happy eating - not sure if you know that Donald doesn't come to tables anymore? You will get your photo with him before you are seated, like at CRT (photo packages will be for sale).

Sorry to OP but I have no idea - I have a ressie for Tusker House bfast though. it's for 9:05 - does this mean we need to get there BEFORE 8:40 with the tree of life thing?

Sorry to thread jack, but without the DIS I'd be a totally out of my depth lost first timer to WDW in OCt!

Park Opening - We've been through this 3 times and have dealt with AK supervisors, and they are in charge at that time, and will not let anyone aprox. 15-20 mins before park opening. Restaurant knows it's an issue, but they still take ADRs at this time, so breakfast backs up at this point, as guests are always late, especially if they are stuck at the rope drop ceremony.

If you arrive at least 25 mins before, you should be good, but once you cut it too close, the park is closed. You'll see the restaurant CM standing there with his/her clipboard, but they are not, under any circumstances allowed to let Tusker House guests in at this point.

Hope this helps, Tiger :)

Update: We arrived about 8:25am and were allowed in the park. We checked in and were seated early, which worked out great, but I think maybe it was a slower day so that is why they allowed it? :confused3 I wouldn't want to give anyone the wrong idea, since it may all depend on who is working at the front gate and how busy the day looks etc.

Good luck!!:goodvibes

That's great! I'm surprised they let you in 1 hour before your ADR, but if it was a slower morning, they probably took that chance in letting you in as it will help out with the backlog that happens during the rope ceremony. You are lucky you didn't arrive close to park opening, because you absolutely would not have been let in.

Glad you had a great time!

Were you allowed to use your own camera for a shot with Donald? We ate for lunch the week they started in March, so they were just clearing that area away, so not sure about using own camera, or, is it just Photopass CMs who shoot the Donald photo?

Thanks, Tiger :)

As you'll see in my last post, we haven't eaten with Donald outside yet, as we had lunch there instead the week they started this in March. We had an early lunch, and could see the set-up and a few people around, but couldn't tell if you could use your own camera or not? We eat there next month, so not sure?

I asked above as someone just ate there yesterday, so we'll see if she can give you your answer.

I hope you enjoy your safari breakfast! Tiger :)

I'd be interested to know if you were able to use your own camera, too - We have this reserved for our trip in September and I'm a little sad it was changed! We have a few other character meals booked and I'm sure DS will have plenty of time with Donald along the way so I'm sure it will be fine though ;) :)

They took our picture with Donald, using their camera, and as usual we asked if they could take one using mine, and they said no problem. The picture came out great, one of the best from the trip. So you should have no problem using your own camera. Just let them take it with theirs first, and ask after that.
