Question. I was approved today and should have mine in the next 2 weeks. I will immediately put $2000 on the card (going to put the trip on it and pay it off immediately). How long will it be before I get my points? Out trip is late January (fly out on January 30th). Are we cutting it too close?

You earn a companion pass after getting 110,000 points in a calendar year. The CP entitles one person to fly with you for free every time you fly, no matter if you book the flight with points or cash. The only cost for your companion flights is the fees, usually around $11.50 (at least for my flights). Your CP is good for the remainder of the year in which you earn it and the entire next year. You can change your companion 3 times. HTH.

Yes, book with points.

It's been a while for me, but I remember the points coming very quickly after I charged 2k and then paid the bill. Less then 2 months, maybe.
