I'm having the kids start school Wednesday so we don't have to worry about it during our vacation. I'm so not ready for school to start. I think I wine more than the kids. :lmao: I've been trying to find out what time is best to get to the port & what's the earliest time you can get on the ship, can't find the thread, can anyone help?:goodvibes: I really thought I would be better organized by now. We booked last February I should be totally ready by now! I shall try to enjoy my last two official days of summer.

If I remember well, DCL Terminal opens at about 10 maybe 10:30 ( we are planning to be there at 10:30 :cool1:) and I think boarding time is 1pm sometimes a bit earlier. Hope this helps.

Hey all, just thought I would let you know that Disney Cruise called this morning offering us to pay for an upgrade from a category 6 to category 4. So they are working out the room situation for the guarantees!! Good luck all, hope you get your room numbers soon. We have until August 23rd to give an answer..

Thanks Dennis!!
We booked at the Cocoa Beach Hampton Inn. Hubby was going to take us to the port & then park the car at the hotel & take the shuttle. The shuttle doesn't leave until 11:30 so I wanted to make sure we wouldn't have to board w/out him. We had considered staying at the Mariott close to port, but they are $40 more for they same room.
We've had some excitement today. Our dog scared off 2 rabbits in the yard & pulled a baby bunny out of it's nest. We made her go inside & called a wild life rescue. They told us to locate the nest, & put the bunny back & crisscross dental floss over the top. We'll check it in the morning to see if she came back. We'll have to keep the dog out of the back yard for four weeks. There are 3 bunnies, no fur at all, but still cute. I hope she comes back. I don't think you guys want to see me after a month of every 3 hr baby feedings!!:scared1:

Its been awhile since I posted and I had to catch up. Still showing gty for us as well, I really wish we'd hear something soon.

disneyfinatics, I hope the mommy bunny comes back also, but she may be too scared, just yesterday I was at my local Kroger and saw a baby finch had fallen out of its nest that the mommy had built in the Kroger sign, I knew it would most likely die but I couldn't just leave it there, I was planning to take it home to try and save it but it died before we got home, it was bleeding out of its mouth which most likely meant it got severely injured during its fall to the concrete. It broke my heart, I always hate when any animals suffer, and try my best to help. I hope all the baby bunnies live.

hannahguad, its good to hear that Disney is calling although I'm hopeing for a free upgrade, I'd consider paying if it was a good deal.

jonesing , good news on your medical clearance.

I know I had read about different problems for others, jobs, health, family member issues, I hope everything works out for everyone. Seems we all have our problems, I hope to leave mine behind when we cruise, I tend to worry over everything, so its hard, now I'm hopeing for good weather, I hear tropical storm Bill may get to hurricane, although it should be far gone, I hope it doesn't affect other cruisers this week and next. Well will run for now.

Tammy

Hi, all!

Disneyfinatics - Wow - what an adventure with the bunnies!! I hope the mommy and daddy come back!! Keep us posted! Do you homeschool also? Just wondering because you said you were deciding to start school Wednesday. Only the homeschool moms can decide that, right? ;)

This is my first disney cruise (and first cruise period in years and years), so not going by experience, but I have read that they board in sections, and so I think you get on board between like 11am and 1pm, depending on your group number. We are staying at the Radisson Resort at the port the night before (driving down there from Atlanta), so we are booked for the 10am shuttle to take us to the port the next morning. :drive:

I was just going over the calendar with dd6, Isabella, this morning, and counting down the weeks/days! 4 weeks and 4 days!!!! I'm so excited!! It's gonna fly by!! :yay: party:

Hey, Lori! It's comforting to know there are other homeschool moms like me! I feel guilty sometimes!! I thought all the other moms were so eager and looking forward to furthering their kids education, etc, etc.!! :lmao:

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to keep up with this thread...but, has anyone posted a list for the 2nd FE?

Well. . . if they are offering paid upgrades with a response time around 8/23 my guess would be no one with GTY status will hear anything until after that date unless it is also a call for a paid upgrade.

so more waiting for us, what a relief it will be to finally have room numbers!

We've got the same offer. I'm not sure whether to go for it or not. I've costed it out and its an $1100 saving on what it would normally be. But I don't know if we need it or not. I was pretty happy with what we already had.

Just wanted to add that I'm sorry I haven't been around very much lately. Its amazing how life gets in the way of doing things I really want to be doing. I know I'm making excuses but with work, kinder, school, ballet, swimming, basketball etc. I don't get to spend too much time on the important things in life like Disney cruises etc. :confused3 I'm going to try and make so much more of an effort and plan on posting at least once a day from now until we leave home for our vacation...which by the way is only 3weeks and 3 days. Not that i'm counting of course.

Having two homeschool graduates, two homeschooling high schoolers, and two homeschooling elementary kids, it is always my kids who are chomping at the bit for us to "get on with it already". More so they can be done at the other end sooner then to do their work! So far my little ones are into it but when I introduced some new manipulatives this morning as a fun game, they were so on to me. "Mommy, this is math isn't it?" Busted!

Good luck to all the kids who are cruising with us in keeping up with their school work, etc. The only things coming with us in the car for the trip down are some books to read (teens choice) and the little ones leapsters.

Sorry to be MIA of late as well. Had a super busy weekend with a new resale event I've never worked before (I do approx. 6-10 children's resale events a year split between spring/summer and fall/winter sales). It is always a challenge to fit in with the new sellers and make sure my things are displayed adequetly, etc. Never mind the lifting/hauling/packing/unpacking it involves. I got into this means of "income" five plus years ago as a way to find some spare money for vacations, etc. I am blessed to be home with our kids (although somedays I'd give anything to send them out the door and have my house just for me!). Anyway, the resales have had a couple of other great side benefits as well. They are a very "green approach" to all the kids clothing that passes through this house(yes, I am a clothes horse), I gain not only a several hundred dollar pay check each sale, I also gain back that space in my house where all the old toys, baby equipment, and clothes have lanquished forgotten and never worn/played with again. And best of all? My teenage daughter and I get some Mom/Daughter alone time for the better part of a weekend. So yeah, busy weekend but more money for vacations! Yeah!

But now it is time to FOCUS and find my vacation packing groove. All the matching hair bows have been purchased for the DD4, the DS6 is almost happy with his pirate outfit (he's decided to put it together himself!), only a few things left to pick up for two teens, and then I can start to find the best luggage arrangement (which pieces) for the van to fit it all in! :thumbsup2

I'm starting to feel the :banana::banana: dance come over me!:banana::banana:

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to keep up with this thread...but, has anyone posted a list for the 2nd FE?

Haven't seen one but only ever saw 3 or 4 interested. I am willing to bring along a few extras for those FE if I could get that list as well.

Would love to see a post of those who signed up or are participating??

Gretchen

Hi Gretchen! We're driving down from Ga and staying at the Radisson the night before too! We're from Savannah, so about a 5 hr. drive for us. I'm hoping to get my dd out of school early that day and be there around 5pm or so. We'll probably be hanging out by the pool, it will be me, my dh, 2 dd's (9 and 2), my Mom, Dad and Sister. If you spot us, say hi!!

That's awesome! I'll definitely search you out! We have a bit longer to drive (about 8-9 hours), so I HOPE to leave super early friday morning - like 5am. As I type that I'm thinking - YEAH, RIGHT! We are famous for leaving like 5 hours after we plan - no joke. That's what happens when 2 unorganized people get married and go on vacations! :rolleyes1 So I figure if I PLAN to leave at 5 am, then we'll get off no later than 10 am.....right? :lmao: I just want to make sure I don't miss the boat!! :rotfl:

So I'll be looking for ya at the pool! :cool2:

wow Disney is offering paid upgrades...good luck everyone! At least we know they are working on getting everyone placed...that makes it super REAL to know they are focusing on our group of cruisers!!

glad to see everyone's posts today!

WTG to all the homeschooling moms...that is an awesome undertaking and I admire you all for it. We have several friends that homeschool and they have a big group that meets and does all kind of neat functions on a regular basis.

sorry...I have no info about the 2nd FE...sorry I cannot help w/ any answers...maybe pm the poster that started it. HTH

at this point we are leaving thurs. night...it is about 8+ hours for us too from Charlotte, NC. we like to get as far as we can while our kids are asleep....it is so much easier for us. I plan to meet my MIL in SC so she can get our dogs the Sunday before we leave (our beagels, Daisy and Lily will stay with her while we are gone) I am really hating that we are not doing MNSSHP anymore (due to money) it feels like we will be missing out...

dh's tux shirt came today...now waiting on the flip flops I ordered...got birki's instead of croc flops this time...hoping the birki's will last longer than my crocs did...they wore out quick. crocs are great for the kids because my the ime they grow out of 'em they are worn but I need a little longer life"d" flop! got dh birki's too.

kileybeth...matching hairbows...you are good...no thought has gone into hair accesories yet. She maybe wearing the red with white polka dots bow all week long:lmao:just kidding.

all the planning that goes into these trips.

I had an episode last night which I think was a food allergy so that has got me alarmed about eating on the cruise now...I know I am allergic to pineapple but know it seems there is something else...thank goodness for benedryl!! I worry about everything too (I read someone's post mentioning they did too) but I am letting God drive!

have a GREAT night!

I would love to join the 2nd FE group...I'm sure adding a few more to my pile of gifts can't hurt! ;)

Hi disneyfan, please PM me your info and cabin # so I can add you to the list! We currently have 5 cabins so far. I will post the list when I get off work tonight.

If anyone else is interested, please PM me. We need more participants!

Thank you!
Wan
