I thought since today was the 6th anniversary of 9/11, we should have a tribute thread. This is to talk about anything related to 9/11, share stories, talk about how it affected you, or anything else about that.

9/11 is my favorite worst day of the year.
i hope in one of our classes we talk about it.
idk if we'll do anything else.

but   to those who lost a loved one.
so sad.

i can't believe it was six years ago.
jeez time flys.

I was in 5th grade watching tv when this happened. Now that was 6 years ago, wow..

i think i was in school when it happened... i remember watching TV when it came on...

i'm disappointed that our school done nothing to commemorate (sp?) the day. We had no mention of it on the tannoids, no mention of it in assembly (which i was sure it would be about) and no 2 minute silence :(

i was in 6th grade and in gym class when it happened. I remember alot of people went home that day because there were alot of kids that had family that worked in the towers. I kind of wish they didn't take the footage off the tv, I think it would remind us why there are soldiers in afganistan and to remind people that our country is strong and can get through tragidies as long as we do it together.

It's still early so I know this thread will be packed later.

I live in Long Island which is about a 45 minute drive to NYC. On 9/11 we could see the thick black smoke from my house. A girl in my school lost her dad to these attacks. We had police officers stalking our school to protect us because there were unconfirmed reports that terrorists next target was NEW YORK SCHOOLS. It was a terrible day, and if you lived in New York it was much worse than anywhere else in the country.

QFE.

My school didn't do anything either. We usually do a moment of silence or the principal talks about it for a few minutes. I was shocked, especially when a soldier in my town just died last year in the War in Iraq...I was really disappointed.

I agree with meeshheartsdisney217, 9/11 is my favorite "worst" day. I guess because it's something I actually lived through. Unlike Pearl Harbor, which is still sad, it doesn't affect my as much as 9/11 does because I wasn't alive during Pearl Harbor.

My history class taked about it briefly. Boy I can't believe it was 6 years ago. All I remember is talking about it all day in class and seeing it on the T.V's that they brought into the classrooms.

I was really small, 4th grade I think? I went through school all day without really knowing anything, then I got home and my mom tried to explain it to me. I didn't think it was that big of a deal, so it didn't really affect my life.

If it had of happened when I was older, it would have affected me a lot more.

:sad2: I can't believe it's been 6 years! :sad1:

I was only 7. And I was at the barbor shop with my dad and he was getting his hair cut. Didn't understand what was happening, I just knew I was scared. :(

I'm so mad at my school. They did absolutely nothing to honor the victims, have a moment of silence at the times the towers were hit, and collapsed. It's just terrible. My principal does a "Words of Wisdom" thing which is either a quote or a thought for the day. Nothing. He said NOTHING about 9/11. I was so frustrated. But I reflected on it all day. The only time we even spoke of it was 7th period, right before we left. Not in History, nowhere. I just couldn't believe it.

This day is just so bad. I'm watching the footage and looking at pictures and just can't help but shake my head and get teary eyed.

OP, great picture. Truely beautiful.

I was mad we didn't do anything at school for it.
No minutes of silence, no assembly, nothing.
Except for a video about Flight 93 in history.

My teachers never even mentioned what day it was today.
In the past years since it happened, they usually do.
I was constantly reminded of it everytime I wrote the date down.

Can't believe it's been 6 years!. The UK is 5 hours ahead so when I was waiting to be picked up from school, I heard teachers talking about a plane crashing into the pentagon and other buildings. When I got home, I saw the planes crashing into the twin towers. Those images send a chill down my spine.
RIP all those who died.
sending :grouphug: from the UK xx

6 years already. 6 years of tears as I call it.:sad1: My friend's dad died on 9/11. So did my uncle.:sad1: I was 6 years old and it affected me.

RIP Tom Huckleton
RIP Uncle Brian

I was in second grade.
All I remember was going to school, them sending us home early, then my mom getting me at the bus stop.
She tried to tell me what happened.
I was extremely confused.
I think my mom was pregnant with my brother around that time.

But yeah, we did a small little commemeration.
1 minute of silence.
And the pledge.
In the middle of Gym class.
Which I ironically found out that my crush is in my Gym class, the ONLY class besides lunch that I have with him.

Wow, I honestly can't believe it's been 6 years! I was in fourth grade. I mean, fourth grade does seem like 6 years ago to me, but 9/11 doesn't.

Our school didn't really do anything either. We had a moment of silence, that was nice. But 4 seniors each read a speech written by someone in history. Like the Gettysburg Address, etc. Unfortunately my immature homeroom giggled throughout the whole thing because the Gettysburg Address was too random. I agree with that, but...ah, oh well. And the only teacher who actually brought 9/11 up was my Global teacher.

Anyways. My thoughts are with those who need it the most today. And I love that picture OP, it gave me chills :grouphug:

we had a moment of silence today. We also talked about it in french. I still remember that day. I remember the days and days of no flying. I remember the first airplane that I saw in what seemed like forever. I remember not being at war.
