Just back from MH and I was able to witness a Media Event taping for the opening of SSR. This occurred on Thursday 5/27 at 8 am at the High Rock Spring Pool.
First let me say that I was very impressed with Jim Lewis. He is not a "sinking ship" kind of guy and I got the feeling that as long as he is in the position he will work very hard for DVC.
In his press release he stated that DVC has reached 81,000 members and that SSR has been so popular that they have announced another phase and that SSR will have 869 units.
The fact that Al Weiss was also present and spoke was very impressive. This at least shows that Jim is in contact with the right people on the Disney end to get things done. Al acknowledged the fact that DVCers are Disney's strongest supporters and that they visit several times a year.
The taping ended with a horse drawn carriage arriving on the pool deck carrying Mickey and the Mayor of Saratoga NY. The Mayor poured a pitcher of Saratoga Spring water into the HRS Pool which was rigged to bubble and shoot a geyser into the air. There was a cast of victorian era CM's with poodles and props milling about.
Alot of what was said during the press taping was also said at MH at DD.
Had a great time at MH and it was a pleasure meeting everyone!
