80s Flashback...inspired by the gaucho thread

Scary! With my Lee jeans and Izods I wore the barretts I wrapped ribbons around and hung bead on the end. That was probably after making the "friendship pins" with the beads and safety pins! :lmao:

Did anyone else do that, or was that a local thing?

Well, I'm not local to you, and I did it!

What about "Shaker" sweaters? Anyone remember those?

Oooo...pant pegging! I could NEVER get it right...my pants always "unpegged" by 2nd period.
That's because you were just folding them over and rolling them. In my area, we pegged our pants for with a sewing machine! My friend got in trouble at work for pegging her KFC uniform pants too tight. :lmao:

I remember last year being at Wal-Mart and seeing a whole rack of buttons with sayings on them!!
OMG! I forgot all about those buttons! I had them all over my jean jacket, too, but most of mine were bands. :lmao:

Remember Capezio's? Those were the FUGLIEST shoes ever!
Paired w/ stirrups...ewwwwww

And do you think my co-workers will think I am mad if I wear one ponytail on the side of my head?
:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I just thought of one more - remember the headband-types thingies that you wore on your forehead? I don't know how else to describe it, but I had some!
:lmao: Oh, yes! Those things were awful! And nearly every 80's bride has one on her head in her wedding pictures! Poor things. :sad2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Did anyone else wear those V-back sweaters, that looked like you were wearing it backwards? :upsidedow

Or little Peter Pan boots, loose, that you folded over at the top? :rotfl:

I love this thread! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I swear on my Coach bags...I saw these boots in a magazine I was reading last week...

Glamour? Allure? Lucky? I forget...pick one...I get all 3.

These were actually featured in a fashion-layout as "the boots" to have for the "punk" look of Spring 2006.

:crazy2:

I had some of those in 1987 or 1988 when I was in 6th grade. They were RED! I loved them!!!! I really hope the leggins thing doesn't last. Doesn't anyone realize that no one looks good in them? We've already made that mistake. Let it rest in peace.

I had the "Peter Pan" boots...but mine were defective...one was stiff and one was floppy...the floppy one wouldn't stay rolled right. Those boots drove me crazy.

Well, no one's mentioned the "Coke" shirts. Those were huge at my school. And Jordache, of course.

Is pegging the same thing as tight rolling? We might have called it something else down in Arkansas lol.

That's what we called it too. This thread has me cracking up! :rotfl2: It's so embarassing (sp?) to remember this stuff. I LOVED the legging/tight things with the lace at the bottom. I had a purple pair that I wore under my tight rolled acid washed pleated jeans! I thought I was so cool. I would probably fall down laughing if I was out and saw a kid dressed like this. I remember tight rolling my pants so tight in 7th grade that it hurt my legs. Why would I do that? All in the name of 'fashion'!! :lmao:

Apparently you and I had matching boots, except mine were camel colored instead of red. One was too stiff and the other too loose - drove me crazy!

Did you wear yours over legwarmers, too?

I missed the "rolling/peggin fashion". I'm not sure where I was for that one.

I loved my Coke shirts!!! I would like to have some now, very functional and fashionable!

I also loved the stirup pants and leggings (when I was thin enough).

I think I have said this before on another 80's thread, but my jeans were so tight, my Granny told me if I "pooted" in them, they would split!!! :rotfl2: (She was probably right! The tighter the better!) At least, they covered my butt and you didn't see my underwear and "muffin top" like w/ the jeans now! :earseek: YUCK!!!

We used to call it "French-rolling"...

My fiance does web design for Macy's and says that, yes, all of this stuff is coming back this spring.

I'm all for it...as long as New Wave music also comes back in!! :cool1:

I recall a few of you making fun of my quest for a banana-like clip for my hair just a few short weeks ago!!!

I'm a step ahead people.... just follow me. :bitelip:

Scary! My 7yo DD wants to wear her hair in a side ponytail! That is not really coming back, is it?

Thats how I wore my hair with my mini skirt and leggings :rotfl:

ribbon wrapped barrettes - YES!!!!! Done in school colors to match my cheerleading uniform. Oh Boy, were those the days.

I referenced Clash of the Titans in my class today and got blank stares in reply. :sad2: It depressed me.

I referenced The Clash once and also recieved blank stares. What surprised me was this was a class of high schoolers during my student teaching.

that or my joke about "rocking the casbah" was really cheesy.

Leg warmers and brightly colored over-sized t-shirts and leggings?!?! :sad2: I am happy I wasn't born until 1992!! lol But sadly, it sounds like it is all coming back. But I do have two pairs of high tops.. :rolleyes1

Does this all mean I now have to start stocking up on the Aqua-net? Get going on praying for the ozone.
