Hi,
The school I work at is organising a surprise summer concert as our Headteacher is retiring after 40 years at the school. Each class is doing a decade and we are doing the 80s.

However, we are going to dress in 80s fashions but I dont know what to wear. :confused3 Everything I can think of shows off my legs (which I simply cannot do!) and is really tight. Also I have to be slightly 'reserved' because the place will be filled with parents - so I can't wear the sort of thing I'd wear on a night out with the girls :teeth:

Did think of dungarees but cant find any cheap ones - saw £25 in Dorothy Perkins but didnt want to pay that much for 'fancy dress'.

Anyone offer any help, please?

Sara. :)

Have you tried eBay ~ They usually have lots and lots of fancy dress items.

You could also try charity shops - I would be thinking of either skinny jeans or more forgiving baggy trousers but tight around the ankles, big jumpers with a belt around the waist, shoulder pads, and flicky Farah Fawcett hair....

Actually, when you think about it, why did we wear these things??!!!

think Joan Collins, BIG HAIR, BIG SHOULDER PADS, loads of chunky jewellery and over glossed lips with dark smudgey eyes.

If there's one near you, Sara, I saw some dungarees in Matalan the other day. Afraid I didn't look at the price (I wonder why? :rotfl2: ) but I would have thought they would be cheap in there.

how about a FLYING SUIT!?
I loved my flying suit in the 80's!!!! :thumbsup2

That would cover up. Then I used to drape a fringed scarf front ways over my shoulders and wear a headband with beads and feathers... I looked gorgeous!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

OMG Sammie, I think we must have been seperated at birth!!! :rotfl2:

edited to add - remember pixie boots???

I get my dd costumes from ebay as they are cheap seeing as she only wears them once. They have all sorts on there! for adults and kids.

Thanks for the suggestions, :thumbsup2 I will definitely have a look on eBay. There is a Matalan close to me, I will have to go and look there too. Luckily the concert is not til the beginning of July so I have got quite a bit of time.

I used to love my lace fingerless gloves - I think I had a pair in every electric colour you could imagine, although my favourites were my shocking pink pair - truly shocking! :rotfl: It really does make you think though, why did we wear these things? And even worse, why are so many of them coming back into fashion?! :teeth:
