Check out restaurant.com! You enter your city and it will give you a list of participating restaurants where you can buy discounted gift certificates. I frequently use this site to check out new restaurants. You can usually buy a $25 gift certificat for $15 but right now they are running an 80% off sale. I ended up buying 3 gift certificates worth $110 for only $8.80!!! You just print it out and take it with you when you go. I believe there is a 1 yr expiration and there and some have a minimum purchase requirement, so check the fine print, but overall...and amazing deal!!!

we use these quite a bit locally...Maybe BECAUSE they are the smaller private owne palces we dont think to go. Has really got us out of the burgers/pizza merry go round

I am grabbing 4-5 random ones in Orlando just "cause" for our trip. If I spend 10$ on a few and only use 2 I am still ahead $$

Yes - there are really no chain restaurants - mostly local mom & pops trying to bring in business - which we tend to prefer anyway! It really is a good deal!

I live in a rural area so the nearest ones are about an hour away. We usually go to these larger towns about every 2-3 months for shopping or entertainment and eat out while there, so I have used them there with good results last year. Just a few weeks ago I looked at their website again thinking I would buy a few more and noticed that the terms have changed SIGNIFICANTLY for all the places, all have higher spending min. and more have stipulations of only 1 per month or only certain days during the week. I totally understand all of these terms, just reaffirms how hard hit everyone is in the pocket book right now...

This is why I love this board! I got two $25.00 certificates for $4.00! One is for a seafood restaurant and the other is for our neighborhood Mexican restaurant. There were a lot of others sold out. I also bought a certificate for half off from our local Entercom radio station for a family style Itallian restaurant. We have a family of four and that can be a fortune eating out! I am also going to cash in some of my debit card points to get another certificate too!

Just wanted to share a trick that I've used if a restaurant I want is sold out. You can just buy the general restaurant.com certificates with the discount and give them to yourself as a gift. Then when the certificates become available for the restaurant you want (usually on the first of the month) you can redeem them.
