So my nephew is coming with us to WDW and will be 9 as of our trip date. He is however quite tall for his age and could pass for a 10 or 11 yr old. We are staying at DVC and have bought him a child's 5 day park hopper pass to give him at Xmas for our trip next Sept. Is he going to have a problem even though he is only going to be 9 with his height??
Anyone else have this issue?
Thoughts?

Who knows? Take a copy of his birth certificate with you (which you should have any way for identification if you are taking someone else's child with you) and then if he is asked you have proof of age. I'd rather have it and not need it than not have it and be embarassed.

But would rather NOT carry that in and out of the parks as if we lose that.. then we are in real trouble. We tend to leave all our passports locked up in the room safe.

I agree I would not carry my passport or birth certificate into Disney, just one more thing to worry about losing :)
How about taking a copy of the passport/BC or what about something from his pediatrican...all the checkout papers I get has my daughters name and date of birth on it.

I'm not sure if this would work, but could you take a photo of his passport or birth certificate and have that on your digital camera? No, it's not exactly official, but depending on the CM, it might be enough to prove your point?

We never had any problems with our very tall 9 year old. He is just as tall as his 13 year old brother. We were never questioned about it at all :goodvibes

You shouldn't, I'm tall for my age and never had a problem when i had a child's ticket.

We've never had an issue, & my DS was 5 feet tall at 9 years old.

Our DS9 is tall for his age (5 feet tall at 9). He has always looked older than he is during each of our previous visits. We have never had a problem. We have never been asked to verify his age at any time.

Same here! He was just as tall at his big sister, who had an adult ticket.

We were never once asked in August either. Glad to see all these other tall kids. My DD is so tired of everyone saying, "Wow! you've gotten tall!" (I think she grew about 4" over the summer.. not good when shopping for pants!")

I doubt anyone will ask you. My dd is extremely tall and thin and could pass for older. She went as a child right before she turned 10 and noone even asked

I agree that you probably won't have any trouble. I have never seen them do more than the casual "And how old are you, dear?" I doubt it is worth it to them to cause a scene if there was *any* chance he was on the correct ticket. (If a 30 year old tried to use a child's ticket, then they might say something.)

However... if you were to make a photocopy of the photo page of his passport and keep that with your stuff, I think that would be likely to satisfy anyone who asked.

Add me to the chorus of "no problems with a tall 9 yr old"!! The last time we went, DS1 was 9 and on a child's ticket. At 5'2" we were sure he'd be looked over at least once but it never happened. (Now at 13 he is 6'3"!) DH had a wallet sized copy of his birth cert in his wallet just in case.

I'll join the chorus too. My now-10yo was 9 on our last two trips; he's about 5'3", 110lbs, and wearing a men's 7 shoe. But no one even looked twice at uss about him using a child's ticket.
