8 years of vacations, 1440 points used, final cost $8120.80!!

Just sold one of my DVC contracts. I had too many points and could not anticipate how I could use all of them. Purchased BWV in 2004 with banked points. Enjoyed years of vacations and points used exclusively at DVC resorts. Added up my dues for 8 years. Added in my closing costs when purchased. Threw in the commission to sell as well as a $50 closing fee paid by the seller.Calculated the difference between the purchase price and selling cost. Total cost of $8120.80. Each point used cost me about $5.64. Very economical way to vacation. Sort of a simplistic calculation but it works. Will miss the points but still have over 300 for future use! It really was a great value for our family!

Thanks for sharing this. We figured that our resale contract at SSR (250 points) would cost us around $6.50 per point in today's dollars if we kept it for a long time. Sounds like your calculations are in the same ballpark as we figured. We're enjoying our points right now and think we will well into the future. Nice to know that you can get out with some compensation in the future.
