8 tops? Changing the number in my party

(Please don't laugh at my over-thinking - leave that to my husband and son who think I am nuts.)

Do CP and CRT use 8 tops for large parties? If so, this is a non-issue; just pull up a chair.

We currently have seven in our party - five adults and two toddlers, (2.5yrs in a booster seat, and 1 yr old in a high chair) One adult might drop out and a new adult might join us. If both changes happen, then no problem with reservations, one fills in for the other...but what if it's only one or the other?

I have a reservation for "seven" at Crystal Palace for breakfast one morning. If I show up with one extra, will they let him in? (Yes, it's one of the guys who is laughing at me in the first paragraph.)

On another day, I have a reservation for seven at CRT - I have only pre-paid for five adults. Will I be able to add and pay for the eighth guest? OR- if neither of the two in question come - Will I be able to cancel and get a refund on ONE seat without canceling the party?

Thank you for any assistance.

We had a party of 8 at CRT. I think we had 2 4-tops pushed together.

Both places have a cancellation party, so those people need to decide ahead of time if they are going or not. Call to adjust party sizes, but you may or may not be able to add an 8th person. If the CM on the phone can't do it (likely not, unless there is a party of 8 already open), you will have to wait and see at the podium if they can add an extra body, they may be able to or they may be at max capacity.

I think you should try calling to see if you can adjust your reservations to the correct number of people. If the CM cannot do it, I would check online daily for a new res. If the restaurant is at capacity, extra people can be turned away because of fire and safety code considerations. Also, on another thread you mentioned your CP res is for before the park opens so there is also the question of whether the CMs at the entrance will let someone in who is not on the dining reservation.

Excellent point about admission to the park! I had not thought of that!**

It's starting to look like both people will be attending (figures, doesn't it?) but not settled as of yet....but I don't know if DH will be there for the second CRT breakfast anyway. (Yes, the uncertainty is aggravating.)I will call the dining people and see about modifications.

How do they seat little ones (the one year old) - do they have a high chair that is pulled right up to the table? Do they have boosters for the 2.5 year old? Of course these take up space at the table, so there needs to be a spot for everyone.

**Okay - confession time: I kind of thought the Extra (DH) could be counted instead of the one year old, for seating and entry to the park, since the "babies" don't have tickets, and my reservation is for seven. What I hadn't thought about - him being turned away!

I have a similar problem: we would be a party of 5, but 2 people won't be able to go anymore, so now we'll be 3!

Has anyone had a similar problem? Were they able to modify the reservations?

I'm wondering if it's better to let reservations like they are now...

I was able to modify CP by telephone, adding one person, no problem.

CRT is not available for 8, but 15 minutes later I could make a reservation for one person. Of course, the nice phone agent reminded me that it is the most popular restaurant, etc.

How do they seat parties of 8 in there, anyway? Four and Four, or something different? Would a party of 7 be at four and three? Then there would be room for Mr. Late-deciding. Where would they put that party of one?

(My family just doesn't get it.)
