Happy New Year All !!!

I need to upgrade our hire car as my mum is now coming with us so we now need an 8 seater. When looking on comparison sites I can only see 7 seater or 12 seater vans, does anyone know if there is such a thing as an 8 seater ?

We need it 3rd Oct to 18th Oct pickup and return MCO.

TIA :goodvibes

You can get them but they are generally very expensive and not so easy to find.
Just checked you dates on Netflights and a standard 7 seater is showing at £379 but the 8 seater (7 adults + 1 child) £767. Both less 5% Quidco
Almost double the cost for an extra seat.
Hertz also show an 8 seater SUV (Tahoe) at £815 less 8% Quidco = £749

If 8 travelling then you will probably have problems with luggage space. Better with the 12 seater or 2 full size (or larger) cars.

The 2 car option would be the cheapest, you should be able to get 2 cars for around £500.

Thanks Wayne :goodvibes

Unfortunately we need to go the 1 car option as neither my sister or mum will drive. Fortunately we wont ever have 8 people plus 8 lots of luggage in the car as we are all arriving on different days so we only need the 8 seats for trips out i.e. shopping and Seaworld etc

I just did a little more digging myself and also found the Chevy Tahoe from Hertz at £815, I also found it from National at £611. The only strange thing on the Hertz website it says it's an 8 seater but on the National website it says it's a 7 seater .... Do you have any idea why that is Wayne :confused3:confused3

With SUV's it depends on the model and year built. A standard older version used to be 5 seats, it had to have a row fitted in the back(which takes up most of the luggage area) to make it an 8 seater.
Just looked at the Chevy site and they now seat upto 9 but again it depends on model they stock, here is what the site says "Tahoe isn’t just spacious with seating for up to nine on LS, and up to eight on LT and LTZ,"

If it says 7 then I would expect 8 or 9 as without that rear row of seats it would be 5 or 6. Not 100% sure.

We had an eight seater in October 2011. I think it was a Toyota Sienna (?). We wanted to stick with one vehicle and were prepared to call a taxi for the to and from airport trips. Certainly didn't need a taxi on arrival, probably could have done with a taxi on the return trip but somehow (!!!) managed to squeeze everything in including a Maclaren pushchair. It was a tight squeeze though. We hired it through Virgin (Alamo) if I remember correctly even though we didn't fly with them. We actually flew into Sanford.

Good info. Just checked and 8 seater Sienna = £673.94

It is a little early for Oct, they might show on other sites nearer Oct.

Fantastic information .... many many thanks to both of you :thumbsup2

We had a Toyota Sienna on a ski trip few years back. There were 4 adults, 3 teens, luggage, ski boots x 3 and a snowboard! We drove from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe and back (4 hours each way) somehow!

Nice car to drive.
