8 is ENOUGH!! July 2-9, 2006 NEW 8/22* Part 5- Post #61

The pool was just what we all needed in the heat. 2 hours later we were headed back to the room and it was about time to get ready for dinner.

Everything we do seems to take forever. We made all our dinner reservations for about 5:30 because that is when we eat at home and Matt hates any change in routine. It is great to be on vacation but with a baby and an autistic spectrum kid it is still all about keeping as normal as possible. Not easy to do, but with a printed schedule for Matt to see and a dh who likes naps better than the pool we did ok.

So it was dressed back into our matching t-shirts and off to Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. We met a new friend from here on the Boards and had a great meal with her and the characters. HI ANGIE:wave:
Our waiter left a lot to be desired, (maybe it was 3 of my kids fighting as he was trying to take our order for drinks?) I think he would rather not have been at work, but since it was a family style meal we didn't need much from him anyway. The food here was perfect for us. We are not gourmets and neither was the food...everyone loved it.

This was Emily's first character meal (of 4 for the week) and she was not sure what she thought of it all the giant animals coming to her and wanting to hug and kiss her. They were great though. Stood back and let us get the pic without scaring the daylights out of her.

The boys were not as good...they didn't want to sit beside each other, didn't want to talk to anyone, the characers were stupid and the 12yo is "too old for baby stuff" and wanted to sit in the corner... I am just about to scream (but we have company) when Goofy comes over and all fighting is over... Goofy to the rescue, the meal went smooth from then on.

The meal went fast and we decided to ride a few rides before heading back to the hotel to meet up with dmom and ddad. Having our new friend with is was like having a personal tour guide, she knows the Magic Kingdom better than I know my backyard.

The jungle Cruise has always been a favorite of mine and after evrryone but Emily and I climbed the treehouse we all went on the boat. This is funny. I love stupid corny, jokes and the Jungle Boat captain doesn't fail us. As we go in to the tunnel he is singing the song from Charlie and the Chocolate factory. What a trip that was.

We then wandered over to Haunted Mansion for our 2nd ride and it was just as good as the first. This time the older boys sat with Angie and she told them a bunch of fun stuff about the ride that I didn't know. They would have stayed all night with her but it was almost time for her to go to work and we were supposed to be on our way out.

The emporium being on the way turned into an issue though. Several hundred dollars later we were saying goodbye to our new friend and hoping to catch up with her later in the week but knowing that dmom does not understand you can make freinds on the internet and that we probably won't see Angie later in the week. Thanks for joining us Angie!

We head back to the hotel thinking that dmom and ddad are going to take the little two so we can go back for the night parade but that is not to be. You see, dmom's changing to the same hotel was supposed to be to help with the kids but what she really meant was the big kids. Not one night would she take the baby. I didn't get to any night parades or shows at all. She was "tired" or "had the baby all morning" or any other of 100 different reasons.

Her whole plan to be a help just got my hopes up and made her resent taking the kids when she did. (Next time she stays home.)

DH did take the big boys back for a few rides after dark and I sat up and sad and cranky that I couldn't be with them. When he got back I heard them in the hall and pretended to be asleep so I wouldn't tell him how much it sucked to stay and watch a baby sleep when he's in my happy place and I'm not. I try not to be bitter and finally drift off to sleep.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get to see any parades. It sucks when family disappoints us, doesn't it? :guilty: There's always next time though. :thumbsup2
