Is 7 character meals for an 8 day trip too many? We have never had any character dining at all. I have planned one per day. My kids are 9 and 7. Is it too much? Thanks.

Depends on what your family wants. If they want character meals then it is fine. The only downside is the meals can take longer than other meals but I've had non character meals with super slow service so who knows. Character meals can be super fun! Enjoy!

The rest of my travel party (3 kids, 2 grandparents) would say you can never have too many, but 1-2 a trip is plenty for me. They do eat up a lot of time, but you can eliminate waiting to see the characters in the park which makes it worthwhile.

Also depends on type. My kids don't want to meet princesses anymore so that takes out several character meal options.

If you want that is fine. But it may take up too much of your Park time. We usually do 2 maybe 3 for an 8 day stay.
I'll take characters in the Parks to make up not having as many character meals.

You do what you want. We are doing 2 this 8 night trip. That's about right for us. Only you know what is right for your family.

Are there certain characters they really want to meet? Or certain places they love?

It sounds like a lot, but if that is what makes them happy then go for it.

I think that sounds great!!! It also helps reduce wait times for characters in the parks & ensures that your kiddos get pics with characters (and food) with a fun event (not just eating) - AND it ensures that you get to meet some characters. And since character meals are usually 1 TS - those with a dining plan usually have 1 TS a day.
It will be amazing!!!!

We did one a day when my kids were younger. We enjoyed the sit down meal time and meeting characters without having to wait in another line.

I couldn't do it. Except for a few of the character meals, I don't find the food to be very good and I would just get sick of eating it after a while. Plus, I feel like seeing characters more than once is kind of a waste of time (I don't need to see Mickey in his farmer's outfit AND his Tusker House outfit). If you are really into meeting characters, go for it. On any given trip, I wouldn't do more than, maybe 3.

Sounds perfect! Like others have said if it's what you decided on go for it. We are trying different places this time around and are doing 6 m&gs in 8 days with 3 desert parties, a tour and 2 Halloween parties. Have a blast and enjoy!

We had a character meal on every day of our trip, so 6 total. My kids (12, 9, 6) loved it. It was the first visit for us, so everything was new to them and they thought it was fun that the characters kept "popping up" at so many of our meals.

I think that's fine. I'm all about character meals. We have 6 in 9 days. We love character meals and we aren't foodies. We prefer the variety the buffet offers verses the intricacy of the menu items at other places. Each family is different so if you guys are happy with your choices go for it!

You can do character meals and meet different characters each time or you can do Tusker House, Hollywood and Vine, Chef Mickey and Cape May and get the same characters in just different outfits. I would go for the first option and try to meet different characters.

Our vacations are usually between 12-20 days and we go every year. We would do 1-2 character meals...now we do 0 unless we bring someone with us to Disney that hasn't been there before. But if it's your first time, go for it! I'm sure you will enjoy it. Even if it takes a little longer, it's ok...you can rest, relax and enjoy the family!

I'd maybe pick your top four character meals for this trip, and leave the rest for the next trip, to leave more time for other types of meals and activities. There can be too much even of a good thing. But as others have said, if this is what you guys really want to do, then to each their own.

Is 7 character meals for an 8 day trip too many?

That would definitely be too much for our family...too much time spent sitting in restaurants and too much money lol! We have a trip next May and we will be doing 3 character meals total for 9 days - 1900 Park Fare dinner on arrival day, CRT breakfast and TH breakfast. Our grandkids are younger than your kids so maybe yours will really enjoy all the TS meals but for ours, a little table service goes a long way and we'll be doing lots of park QS and carry-out meals by the pool at the resort.

We have done a lot of character meals on trips. When the kids HAD to meet certain characters it made life a lot easier because you could just sit there and munch while waiting on the characters. Now that they kids have met most of the characters we still do quite a few character meals just for the fun of it. But my kids know that we may not wait for everyone to come by. And we tell the servers this too and they are usually good about bringing our checks when we are ready to go (versus having to wait for every character to go by).

Definitely not too much at all, we pretty much do the same every trip. If your family are really into characters, then it makes even more sense because you will save the time needed to line up to meet these same characters in the parks, plus you get the bonus of having your meal and sitting comfortably to eat it. You have to eat anyway, so this is for sure a kill 2 birds with 1 stone situation.
