8-Day Passes? Nooo

My family goes to DL once a year, so we get 8-day passes. This year, DL doesn't offer them anymore . The best we could get would be 6-day passes. What happened? Why did they get pulled? I checked getawaytoday.com not more than a month ago, and they were still being offered. Now we'll have to cut our vacation short. (I don't mind buying an additional 2-day pass, but it would be way too expensive for the rest of the family, and we won't be going down as soon, so I can't .) I know 6 days are still plenty, but still, this is disappointing.

I would call DL--I can't imagine that they wouldn't sell these any longer. Might be a website glitch.

I've wondered if buying a Deluxe AP is cheaper than an 8 day pass? Or at least very close in cost, bonus of getting hte discount with every purchase.

It very may well be, but then there would be the blackout day problem . . . .

Deluxe is pretty comparable in price, but has blackout days. Call Walt Disney Travel, and you can order the 8 day passes from them. I had no problem doing this a week ago, and got my confirmation yesterday. They are shipped approximately 21 days before your trip.

We called Get Away Today, and they said that Disney pulled the tickets. I don't know why this would be. We may have found another place to get them, so we'll see how that goes. And with a deluxe AP, 4 of the days we'd be going are blocked out, so that wouldn't work.

Are the 4 days at the beginning of the trip? If so, get a 6-day and then upgrade to APs after the black out dates. If they are spread out, then I guess it wouldn't work.

Black out days are normally Saturdays, they start this year in March. The first Sat. in March is not blacked out, the rest are, all the way until August.
Part of the reason we are seriously considering an upgrade to Premiums.

You can always add your next 2 days at the parks but you will only get credit for what you paid for the 6 days, so that sort negates any discount you would get buying the 6 day hoppers on GAT.

I ordered my 8 day passes 1 1/2 weeks ago from the Walt Disney Travel Company. Since we are going in April the tickets were play at the kids price and the 8 day hoppers were $188 including shipping.

Disney technically refers to them as 'blockout' days. On the contrary, they're actually days that are more busy because its when out-of-towners and folks other than locals come in and swarm the park.

We had a discussion about the 8 day hoppers a week or so ago. It looks like they're only available by calling WDT at the moment, but they are not cheaper than APs. I think the regular adult price is 220? Or so? Someone please correct me on this. But I would get an AP just because I'd like going more than once a year.

$50 per adult and $80 per child is significantly less expensive if you are not planning on being back within the year. The OP will have 4 block-out days which will add another $110 per ticket to get premiums (cheaper than 4 block out tickets) So for this individual there is a HUGE difference in price involved without the 8 day tickets.

Flightcenter.ca has the 8 day passes for $199 Canadian. I'm not sure if you can buy from the U.S. but with the exchange rate that would be a good deal for you.

Well we don't know when their trip is or how those dates fall during their trip, so I think it's hard to judge if that would or wouldn't work for them.

I also had the feeling when I first read Sherwin's post that there was a typo in there, or a missed word (like not "that much" cheaper) or something, b/c obviously 220 is less expensive than 269.


When the OP's trip is important b/c we don't know if s/he qualifies for the "everybody plays at kid's price" pricing.


I hope the OP has called Walt Disney Travel, since they only said they called GAT so far. So OP if you haven't, call WDT! Perhaps someone can give you their phone number.

And we just did call WDT. Apparently the "Disneyland Passport Plus Package" comes with discounts to DTD, and 8-day park hoppers for $214. It seems kind of silly that they don't advertise it anywhere. Btw, our trip is scheduled for the first and second weeks of April.

I just called and got the 7 day version of this! it's only $5 more than the online 6 day parkhopper ticket only price. Plus you get the DTD 10% off card.

Yes, DL does, one day at a time. So....

Example You go to DL with a WDW PH with 6 days left. DL will remove 1 day from your pass and return it to you with 5 days left and a DL PH for 1 day. Repeat every day.

WDW PH costs more than DL PH so you lose money, but if you have the PH with days left, it's better than it going to waste if you aren't returning to WDW.

We were just there 1/17-1/24 and had 8 day passes. We purchased them through Disney Travel... only $184 on the "everyone pays kids' prices"
