I have reserved a 2 bedroom at BCV for my parent's 30th anniversary in July 2005. We are staying 8 nights before heading off to Universal for about 4 nights. Can 8 adults really fit comfortably in one 2 bedroom villa? I have been thinking about maybe adding a 1 bedroom or not staying in a villla at all but getting several rooms at either BC or GF. Any suggestions or opinions? It will be Mom and Dad, my sister and her boyfriend (both in college), my brother and his girlfriend (both just out of college), and DH and I. Since mom and dad will be there, there is no way DB and DS will be sharing a room with SO. Any ideas?

how well does everyone get along?

that is an awful long time to sleep 2 couples to a bedroom,
if they both have two beds that is.
or someone sleeps on a pull out?

as long as everyone gets along and no tempers flare you could be fine.

my family, no way! we would need more space.

I wanted to let you know about the bedding situation in a 2 bedroom at BCV, which I think isn't conducive for this type of setup. There is a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen pull-out in the living room, a queen pull-out and a queen bed in teh 2nd bedroom. That's an awful amout of pull-outs and not a lot of space to spread out the non-marrieds. Would your sister want to share a bed with the girlfriend? Would your brother want to share a bed with the boyfriend? Also, would you want to share a room with either the girls or boys, since you wouldn't want the girls and boys to share a room, though they wouldn't be sharing a bed? Personally, in this situation, since you don't want the girlfriends/boyfriends sharing a room, you'd have to get 4 rooms IMO. One for the girls, one for the boys, one for your parents and one for you and your DH. This way, everyone gets their privacy and separate bed to sleep on. Hey, I love my SIL's, but I wouldn't want to share a bed with them. And sharing a bed with DBIIL's girlfriend, not my thing!!! She's a nice person and all, but I think both of us would prefer our personal space, at least our own bed in the same room.

My family and all SO get along so a 2 bedroom would be fine for us. If I were you I would put your parents in the masterbedroom then you and your DH share the studio with your DS and the SO of your DB. Have your DB sleep on the pull out with the SO of your DS. I think this would work fine, but may feel cramped for 8 days. Adding a studio into the plan would definitely give you more space. You probably don't need a 1-bedroom, a studio would be fine. I would choose the villas over a couple rooms at anther hotel b/c the kitchen/living area give you a great meeting place.

Thanks for all the quick replies - I think I might add a studio to our reservation. We all get along really well, but I think the SO's would rather have their own bed - especially for 8 nights. Of course, my brother and his gf break up every other week, so I have to plan with her in mind, but who knows if she'll be there or not. DH and I could take the studio - I wish it was a one-bedroom just because of the jacuzzi tub! We are going to go with 4 rooms at one of the Universal hotels - just haven't decided yet.

One more question - we have AP's but have never stayed at a DVC resort. Are AP rates ever available? We went ahead and budgeted for no discount but when we made our ressies we were told we could apply our AAA discount. That should help now that we need to get another room. By the way - decided to shell out for a one-bedroom - I feel like since DH and I are financing this whole trip we deserve a little space of our own (that includes a whirlpool tub!);) I am awful - I know - and I get worse - I'm not going to mention to DH that we are getting an extra room until we get there - at that point he won't care and what's the use in giving him an opportunity to give me the "money doesn't grow on trees" lecture - like I don't know. I'm the one who keeps up with the checkbook, pays the bills, and keeps up with our 401K's and other investments!.;)

They are sometimes available, but usually at OKW, as it's the biggest of the DVC resorts. It won't hurt to call ask when the rates are released, but I wouldn't count on AP rates.
