Are the red $8.99 refillable cups with .99 cent refills still available in the parks? Or are the Freestyle cups the only ones available?

I've read conflicting information on different sites/forums. If it's only the Freestyle cups, can you get .99 cent refills in those? Just trying to budget our upcoming trip; we leave Saturday from Michigan!

I have the dueling dragon blue mug from 1999
I still take it with me to the parks and get the discounted refill cost
Less than a dollar
I show my preferred AP for the discount on that 99 cent refill cost

There are several refillable cups available. They no longer sell the red cups, although we still have ours from years ago and they still refill them for .99. The free style cups are good for the day of purchase (there is a RFID chip in the cup) and you have to add $$ each additional day. The other option is to get a character cup (homer, transformer etc) and pay up to $15.99 with .99 refills. Those cups can be used over and over. You can also carry your own sports bottle and get ice water for free. Hope this helps!

They will fill the freestyle mugs for .99 or 1.19 after the first day. You can choose to reactivate the chip (6.99/day) or just pay as you go, although then you need to wait in line to pay.

We only saw a couple kinds of character mugs and they were big bulky Simpson heads.

I loved the cold filtered free water from the freestyle machines. However, there were many machines that were out of ice or soda when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

I'm here now and bought a Freestyle mug a few days ago. I tried to buy one refill yesterday and was told I could only do the full day for 6.99 and not just pay for one refill. Maybe the team member was misinformed, I didn't check anywhere else about it. We were at a quick service burger place at the time.

Can you get cups of free water there? I really, really prefer water and don't want to carry the bottled stuff. I do this all the time at WDW and was wondering if Universal is the same.

Well, if I could get refills for .99 cents, I'd be pretty happy..... :rotfl2:

:rotfl: You reminded me of my middle school math teacher...those kinds of things always bugged him! I remember he once asked for two lollipops and handed the girl a penny at a bake sale...their sign read "Lollipops only .50 cents each)

I've done that at our local McDonald's, when they advertised on their outdoor sign that burgers were ".99 cents."

The manager just completely failed to understand what was wrong with what they were advertising. Sigh.

Yes. It was great. Just get in line and fill your bottle with cold water. There are many that are outside next to restaurants so you don't even have to go indoors.

We bought a freestyle cup and then the next day did the .99 refills. If I remember correctly though you can't do the refills at the stands around the park. It was the inside places where the lines were longer.

I tried to use my freestyle cup yesterday at the Simpsons indoor food court area and they did say I could refill for 1.29 but I had already paid the full day refill price so didn't want to pay again. It's a bit of a pain to find the freestyle machines since they aren't in all the restaurant areas. Just had to plan ahead.
