Possibly a silly question, but: I managed to snag an 8:45am BOG on 1/11 for an impromptu birthday trip next week.

Is that too late to hope for getting onto the Mine Train or such before the crowds? I'll be alone and going with the flow all day but that's the one I'm not sure will work out. I'd consider "missing" the breakfast and taking the hit if I had to, but I'd rather not.

Generally, yes, it's poor timing (especially with the new welcome show inside the gates).

If 7DMT is running, you might have a slight chance to get on it and then go to your reservation, but that would be pure luck. I'd keep checking for an earlier time.

With the new opening procedures in the MK starting on the 9th, nobody can tell you right now what your experience will be like.

Thanks! I figured as much. I'm ok with luck.

Even just a little stroll while the park is empty would be a treat in my book.

The park opens at 9am..and it's very likely that rope drop crowds will be let in about 8:45/8:50 throughout the whole park. I believe during this time the new welcome show will be going, so they'll be at the mine train within about 1 min as everyone will already be at the castle

So no chance you get on the mine train ahead of rope drop crowd AND actually go to BoG

Yes, I think an 8:45 am breakfast ADR (even at BOG and even if you eat quickly) will not allow you enough time to beat the rope drop crowds if you want a short wait on Mine Train. Masses of people will head for that ride in particular and if you aren't there right at opening, the wait will back up fast. If you eat quickly, you'll still be able to get on many rides without a wait, but not Mine Train. Time is of the essence there.

The Main Street area will likely be open early. Not sure if there will be an empty park stroll. I would make sure I was there by 7:30 in case they let the early ADR people in ahead of the crowd, but nobody knows yet how that will go.

I think for a 9am opening they'll probably be allowing park guests onto Main Street and in the shops by 8am..maybe even a little earlier

I know they want to get some people in the shops before hitting the parks so I think about an hour before park opening would be the time for getting them in. Not to mention how packed Starbucks will be..likely people will spend close to 30 min just waiting there

I guess I'm entering undiscovered country! Should be exciting to see how it works out.

@CAS239 - Right now no one knows, but I would think 8am would be too early and would create congestion that may interfere with people getting inside and checking into PPO breakfasts.

They might let you in early as with the 8am ADR and they might let you in to BOG with the 8 am people and you might be able to ride 7DMT before the other guest get there

But on the other hand you might be setting at 8:45 or latter and not get out until 9:30-945 and miss some good touring time in the park

For PPO ADRs I would think they would go in along with everyone else onto Main Street, then where cms will be stationed to make sure no one goes anywhere else in the park, there will be a couple cms checking in people for their adr and allowing them to continue on past the rope or whatever barrier they have set up.

We'll see though

Didn't @yulilin3 mention the time for the new Welcome Show is 8:55? I'm wondering if that means the ropes won't actually drop til 9....

Wait and see, I suppose....

You didn't say what your priority is. if you are excited about your breakfast and visiting bog then go enjoy it and have a FastPass for Mine Train for after. if the only reason you have the reservation is for access early morning for Rides I would cancel it or try for 8 o'clock and cancel if you don't get that and as has been stated nobody really knows if even that will make a difference with the new opening procedure.

I've done and enjoyed both- just debating the eternal battle between a hard plan and improvising! Seems like I picked a really strange time.

The Welcome Show is on the castle stage, right...? I think there could be problems. Do they redirect CRT and BOG diners around to the back of the castle? If Main Street/the Hub fills in, ADR people may have "push"/maneuver their way past the crowds.

I'm looking forward to hearing KtP's report.
