Based on all the information I got from the site, I felt compeled to report on our recent stay at POR. I'll try to do a dining review and meal plan thread in the near future. Unitl then let me say our stay at POR was great. We had three rooms - 1. me, DW, DS-6 and DD-4. 2. Bro.-in-law, his wife and four kids ages <1 to 8. 3. Sis.-in-law, her husband and three kids ages 4 to 7. Those are the players and all liked POR. Though requesting BLDG 14 in AB (needed the trundle beds) we got 38 (rooms 3811, 3812 and 3813). 3813 was on a corner, had two windows and was the nicest, but all exceeded our expectations. My gang of four stayed at BC two years ago in two rooms with my mother, niece and nephew. I was worrired DW would be disappointed with AB since she's more of a deluxe girl, but she like the place. Housekeeping did a great job, and while no animals, we did get cute setting for DD's stuffed anmial collection that grew each day.
Buidling 38 was nice because it was close to the main pool (just over the bridge), and close to the north stop around the back. We did walk to the front depot each day becaause none of the buses we got on there went around back in the morning. Maybe there were separate buses in the morning going around back, but we didn't take the chance with so many little ones. No problem getting off at the North depot at the end of the day, and again just a short walk to BLDG 38.
The pool was nice and the kids loved it. Hot tub fit about 10 one night, but probably better for 6 or 7. The boat ride to Downtown Disney was great. It was nice to take after dinner to do something different. Even the kids were relatively relaxed on the ride.
We had a rather long check-in line at about 12:30 p.m. but that could be due to a close to full bus from the airport. Our longest wait was from the long line at the airport to check in for the buses to the resort. Line, check-in, wait for bus and bus ride all took about 80 minutes, but I will still say it is worth it. Ride back to the ariport was nicer and less crowded.
I don't want to bore anyone so I'll try to stop for now. Thanks for all the advice I got on the site and I would be glad to return the favor by answering any questions. By the way, this was our second time at Disney the last week of August and the crowds were not bad. My son has a GAC card (Autistic) so I can never judge the lines right, but the rest of the gang thought they were short and with fast past their longest wait all week was at most 25 minutes. Again I'll be gald to answer any questions and thank you for making our trip so great. It is truly a magical place.
