We are planning one day at AK. We have a adr for 8:25am, is that a good time, or will we miss all the benefits of rope drop by being in the restaurant at that time? How long does breakfast there typically take? Would it be better to do brunch after doing all we can at rope drop?:confused3

1) Arrive at 7;45AM at the park gate and eat early.
2) With an 8:25 ADR, they will let you in.
3) You can then get out by 9:00am.
. . . you need to ask for the check when you make your drink order
. . . you can pay while you are eating
4) HOWEVER, it is possible in a 1-hr period to not interact with all the characters
. . . they will all appear during a 1-hr time frame
. . . but, they might not get to your individual table during that time

We had this same thing and we were out right as the park opened and just hit up jungle cruise and EE first, Jc we were the first group on, and EE was like a 10 min wait

Sounds like it could be a rushed watching the clock kind of event then. We really want to meet the characters and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed as this is our only character meal on the trip. So maybe a later time would be better? :confused3 I've also read that the park often opens early? I'm thinking maybe hit rope drop - hopefully early open, ride some rides and then take a break around 10:30am for a brunch. Does that sound better? :confused3
Thanks for the help! :)

TH also has the same characters at lunch. We have done the midday lunch break there and really enjoyed it. We were even able to get it same day for 12 in July.

I opted for brunch instead of pre-park opening b/c it will allow us a little more shut eye. The night before we are doing the fireworks cruise so I know we'll be up a little later. Figured if we made it to rope drop, great but if not no biggie as I'll have FP+ set up. When I was there in Dec, the park did open about 8:45. I "walked with a purpose" and was the 2nd person in line for the safari only to find out they can't let us in til 9. At least that is what the CM told us. I waited 10 mins or so and was on the first vehicle and immediately went to EE. EE had a 5 min wait. I have heard numerous folks say to do safari first b/c the line for that ride builds faster than EE.

I have gone to many many character meals I can never understand the rushing through it to get to do something else A character meal is something to take your time at, take pictures, enjoy the food, decor, and character interactions The experience isn't cheap either so get your monies worth

That being said I would definitely try to move your ADR until about 10:30 At TH you will also get a bonus a two-for-one kind of special The menu gets switched from breakfast foods over to a whole different menu at around 11 am so you will be able to enjoy both A very pleasant surprise we found out last time we were there

If the park opens at 9:00 that day, I'd just show up a little early and hope to get seated a little early. We usually get an 8:05 ADR when the park opens at 9:00. We are usually done just as the park opens and go straight to the safari with no wait. We've always seen all of the characters during our meal and never felt rushed. A PP has a good suggestion about asking for the check when you order your drinks. That way. you can take care of the bill early and be able to leave as soon as you are ready to go.

If the park opens at 8:00 that day, I'd go for a later ADR. There's no benefit to an 8:25 ADR if the park is open early. If that's the case, I'd have a little something to eat in the room and get an ADR for 10:00.

We just had a reservation for 8:00 this week and it worked out well. I had a FP for the safari for 9 to 10 so we wouldn't feel rushed. We had plenty of time to eat and see all the characters and still were able to be one of the first families in the safari stand by line. If it were me, I'd keep trying for 8:00, or try to get a FP for 9:30 for the safari.

Agree here - I was also going to suggest getting there early so that you are let in with the people who have an 8am ADR. We've always had anywhere from 8am-8:10am ADR, and always finish around 9am. Last trip, we were walking out just as the rope to the safari was coming down. Usually perfect timing.

I did an 8:25 for Tusker on my last trip. They were able to seat us early and we got out a little after rope-drop, with still virtually no line for EE, which we went to first since w ehad a fast-pass for Safari. After riding EE a bunch we went to Safari and there was still no line, so we just saved our fast pass. AK didn't even start to get crowded until about 12:30 or so. My trip was in may, before Memorial day (EasyWDW had it at a 7 I think with AK recommended).

So, you may have good luck with it. We did not rush our meal and met all the characters.
