8/21 Parking Lot & Kennel Update

I just read the blog on the new "kennel" and it looks really neat. There are plenty of people out there who wouldn't think twice about spending that kind of money on their four legged furry kids.

I can't really comment on the location or using it because our camping dog doesn't come to Disney with us. (her grandparents take care of her) Too far away. Even if she did she would just stay in our motorhome. I just think the facilities and services that they offer are really neat.

See, this is what I mean. I have yet to hear anyone who actually uses the kennel say the services are "really neat" or that they "wouldn't think twice about spending that kind of money on their four legged furry kids." I use the kennel, and I'll tell ya right now I don't think what they are offering is "really neat" and I for sure would think twice about spending that kind of money.

Didn't it just open yesterday? Be interesting to hear the thoughts of people that are using the new kennel.

If we brought our dog with us and were staying at a resort I would be happy to let her stay there. She could have her own little vacation and not be stuck in a big cage all day like the kennels in our area.

It is expensive but this is Disney we are talking about here. Is there anything reasonable any more?

Tell ya what, in a few weeks after my dog has stayed there, I'll give you a complete report so you can hear the thoughts of someone who actually uses the kennel. In the mean time, why not make a reservation for your dog so she can have her "own little vacation" and bring her along? I bet you could reserve a VIP suite with little notice.

No need to be testy with me. I am sorry my opinions are different then yours. For now on I will keep them to myself. I just thought the place looked neat.

BTW- My dog can't travel long distance cause she has car sickness issues so she won't be trying out the new kennel. But if she could I would treat her to the VIP Suite for a few days!

The place does look neat, but!!! I just got back from The Fort and paid $50 per weekday night and $52 per weekend night for a full hookup site. We were there for 2 weeks with our 2 dogs. At $34/day for resort guests x 2 dogs = expensive. That's more than I paid for my site. If they want to fill the kennel, I think they need to lower the price. I think people are going to be shocked.

FWIW - Best Friends Pet Day Care Spa & Salon's are located in 18 states. They all offer the same services, but prices are not quoted on-line. I would venture a guess that each one charges what their local market can bear.

This is WDW, folks, and they have some of the best bean counters money can buy. I'm sure they have done the demographics and come up with rates comparable to other local kennels offering similar services. We're not talking about boarding Fido at your local vet & hoping a Vet Tech has time to let Fido play in the dog run. We're pretty much talking one-on-one care. For a dog - this is a good thing. I have cats. Cats sleep about 18 hours a day or more. Their pricing is a little steep just for a condo for cats to bunk in. But, would I pay it if I had to? You bet I would!! My cats are extremely pampered. If I believed in reincarnation, I'd want to come back as a cat owned by someone like me! :rotfl:
