8/21/08 Wonder 3 night

Hi guys! I have not looked ahead to the cruise weather, only Orlando weather for our stay at AKL. Don't tell me there's some big storm coming

I printed out my tip envelopes yesterday and called DCL about my citizenship. Besides passport and greencard I need my drivers license so very that's done! I got some of the kids stuff packed up- like they gave me a choice! They've been dying to do it for the last week so we did and put our ME tags on the suitcases. I'm taking Bella and my niece out for for pedicures this morning. :hippie:

i don't know if "anything" is brewing in the ocean, but one of my customers said to me the other day, something about a tropical storm near the Bahamma's . so i am just hopping that they were just joking with me, knowing that i am going on a cruise. i havent had time to check out the weather channel, don't even know if i will be able to tonight. i have to do the rest of the packing tonight and tomorrow night, since dh is working. and he'll be sleeping all day tomorrow. yikes busy, busy, busy... i have to go to the store to get a few last min. things. well i will check back later, in between loosing my mind!! LOL!! :scared1:  :scared1:  :

Not that these things are perfect, but.. click here:

http://www.wunderground.com/modelmaps/maps.asp?model=GFS&domain=TA

and then click the 'animate' button..
Thurs 21st through Sun the 24th still a little hard to predict, but as you can see there's this ugly 'red' thing predicted to run through the antilles, puerto rico, cuba.. and, you never know where it might turn (besides, if it really goes where predicted, check out the 26-27th.. new orleans is in trouble!)

But.. i'm sure it'll be fine. It's vacation, so, no matter what I'm going to have fun. =)

booger! :wave2:

I love that I am not the only one obsessing about storm patterns and following two tropical events online hundreds of miles from Puerto Rico!!!!

At last, a kindred spirit! :flower3:

I am guessing (and it's purely a guess because what do I know?) that these two events will have passed by next week though the seas might be a bit rough following their passing. Yea, that's my forecast and I'm sticking to it! :)

Denial ---- it's the stuff of great vacations! :rotfl:

Yeah, I've been checking out weather.com and accuweather. My 4-night Wonder cruise thread has been talking about it as well.

The good news is that neither site is getting "excited". At least not yet.

I'm going on theme of "much ado about nothing" and hoping these storms die of natural causes.

Yes, "denial" is a must-have during vacations.

Okay - just bought a book for the cruise. That's as far as I've got in the packing department.

ok---- i think i'm pretty much done packing. just doing 1 last wash tomorrow after i get home from work. want to make sure we have more than enough undies, etc....
you should see my bedroom right now, gosh i cant even walk in it. there is luggage everywhere!!! we have 2 large, 1 med., 2 carry-on's (for the train)
and 2 shampoo,make-up,medicine bags.. thats not to mention a bag of pillows, and a cooler with some snacks (again for the train), and some misc.. Disney stuffed animals....cameras... boy i could just go on & on... i don't think i could fly there is just way to much.
we have friends who just left Disney tonight and they said the weather looks good for the next couple of days- 90's with chance of showers, everyday, your typical Florida weather.
well tomorrow will be my last night on the boards, since we will be leaving about 5 or 6 am on Friday morning!!!
so good night for now..

~Sue

Hi Gonecruisin!

Models have changed again :)

So.. we'll see.. I'm sure it'll be fine

We have a stay at AKV afterwards anyways.. ah.. 11 days total vacation.. :)

Sue- In case I don't get on before you leave tomorrow..... safe travels!!!!!! Keep an eye out for me in Epcot otherwise I'll see you on the cruise!

Leyla

It'll probably be clear by the time we cruise.... probably (21st)
Only problem for me is that we fly the 19th (Tues) which is when it's either going to 1) Hit the FL E coast, 2) Hit the FL S coast, or worse 3) Sit around in the FL straits/GOM/

Who knows.. maybe it'll get torn up in the mountains..

It'll be interesting..

Well, I just finished my door signs. I cleaned all our snorkeling goggles. And I just realized DD's flippers may not fit anymore (darn those kids growing - sheesh). We bring all our own snorkeling equipments as we do a lot of snorkeling on our cruises.

Tomorrow I have to take the kids shoe shopping as I realized their dress shoes don't fit anymore. Found that one out at their spring music concert when they went to put their shoes on and both groaned with pain as the shoes were too small.

Regarding the possible hurricane.....the system doesn't even have a name, yet. I think people are counting chickens before the eggs are even laid. Last year at this time we had a large hurricane that looked like it might hit the Bahamas and instead turned south toward Mexico.

So I think its a terrible waste of energy to be worrying about it.

Worst case scenario is that we miss either Nassau or Castaway Cay. Then the ship might sail to Key West instead. But at least we'll be onboard and having a blast no matter where we sail.

I start my packing tomorrow. Wash all the clothes and put them straight into the suitcases.

Car picks us up at 10:30am on Saturday.

IF there is a possibility that we can't do CC or Nassau do we get refunded for our excursions?

well i sure hope there will NOT be a storm. i WILL be watching the weather channel tonight. we will be driving in rain tomorrow morning from NJ -DC. so i will have it with by tomorrow.

Leyla- yes i will be looking out for you and your family on tues. at Epcot. hopefully we will see each other. if not then on the cruise. i sure they will not charge you card if there is a storm, but i have never sailed on Disney cruise lines before. i would call them up and see.

well i have to go eat, than throw in my last load of laundry. so i will check back in after. if i don't see anyone else on. i hope that everyone has a safe trip! and i will see you all on the boat! (Leyla- EPCOT)!!!!

see ya
~Sue

Well, it's has officially become a tropical storm and been named "Fay". Headed towards Miami?

Good news??? Looks like it'll be out of the way 8/21 - 8/24. We may sail in between storms. Phew.

Who knows where it'll go.. at this rate, it could be MS to NC.. hah

We fly in Tuesday morning though.. hope we sneak in before it really hits
Right now I'm hoping it stays over more land and stays weak.. maybe it'll just bring in a lot of nice rain.

But, I think we're gonna be great 21-24th.. nothing on the maps but clear so far

Hey all,

Signing off now. We're leaving in the morning. Mostly everything is packed except for what we need in the morning.

I've triple checked the packing lists and still feel like I've missed something. Oh well.

Yes, good news on tropical storm Fay. Sounds like we'll be in the clear and we'll be sipping our tropical drinks on Castaway Cay as planned.

See you all onboard at the promenade lounge at 3pm on Thursday.

Hi Divep.

Wish you were going on the 8/21 sailing --- the waiting is the hardest part (I think Tom Petty said that! :lmao: )

Unfortunately your meet thread for the 9/14 Wonder is http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1695934. You have a great time. Check back here on 8/25 and we'll give you updates from our cruise and answer any of your questions!

Happy sailing!

Hello?

Has everybody already left for FLA? I know Sea-n-ski, pierresgirl and postalcop have flown the coop already. :sad1:
Anybody still on the boards?

I know booger doesn't leave til Tues. Hope Fay doesn't create any travels probs for you and your family. :wizard:

Looks like I'll be very lonely til embarkment on 8/21.

divep!!! Come back!!!! :rotfl:

Leaving tomorrow morning... hopefully.. 9am flight, which, is certainly playing with Fay.. but, we'll see.

I see the port's closed from Tues noon to reopen Thursday morning.. hopefully there's not a wrench in the plans. Was going to go to NASA Wed, but, will probably miss.. will probably catch it after cruise/before AKV.
