I wrote a week or so ago about my dilemna. We (my 13 y o daughter and I) booked on board last summer. A while ago we added my 12 y o niece. Last week I called to add the baby we are adopting...she'll be 6 months when we cruise. Well, the ship is FULL. I've been calling frequently to see if the wait list is moving at all. Have talked to nice CM's, rude CM's, Sups and Inventroy control. Today I was told that it is highly unlikely that anything will open up. They tried to get me to book a three day instead......NO WAY!!!! This was to be our third August on the Magic. I am so bummed!!!!!

This is so sad, i know i read another post and leaving your niece off wasn't an option , i know it's not ideal but could you book for another date, or leave the baby at home with your mum and dad or similar ? or transfer to another cruise line ? or even a land stay at wdw. I'm sure it will turn out fine, i would be major bummed if it was me but i also believe everything happens for a reason,
Good luck with your plans:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:

I wouldn't cancel yet. A lot of openings come up at the 60 day mark when the payment is due. I'd just keep the booking until 80 days prior, then I'd start to worry. Most people know within a month of the due date if they'll be able to pay it off.

Well I don't have children so I don't know how valuable my opition is, but I would see if it were possible to leave the baby with family. I mean once you have a baby your other daughter will be jealous of the attention the baby receives, like any normal child that I have seen. This way if you take DD and DN they will feel special. I don't know how old your DD and DN are (due to a bad memory but I have read your other posts) but they would most likely associate this wonderful vacation with a new sister and cousin. I hope that something opens up either way and that you enjoy your growing family. By the way I forgot, CONGRADULATIONS! :teeth:  :teeth:

I'd leave the baby at home if you have someone you can depend on. My DD was 4 years old and we really wanted to take her to WDW for the first time. We felt she was the pefect age. Unfortunately, my DS was only 5 months old and I felt he would not be an *asset* on the trip to say the least!!! I left him home with my mom and we all had a wonderful time.

I have two rooms on the August 21st sailing. A category 6 and a category 11. We only booked these to get the onboard credits and discounts the last time we sailed. As soon as summer 2005 dates open up, I will be moving my reservation.

As a mom who adopted....a few thoughts. I wouldn't take the baby out of the country until the adoption was final and I had a US passport on the child.

I realize that this may all be irrelevant in your situation. I'd probably leave the baby at home if that's possible. You'll enjoy the vacation more, and it will be "do-able"

kinda sucks that they cannot find enough space to put
such a small person! especially given the circumstances!

hope you can get something worked out!

I'm confused....don't they put babies in the portacribs????

It's not like they have to have a regular bed.....

HOw can the ship be full for 1 more baby? I don't understand that? It is not like she will be in the clubs? Or is that you have a stateroom that will only hold 3 and there are none that will accomodate 4?

I dont' really get it either. It doesn't have to do with the size of the room.....it has something to with how many are alloted per room. Inventory control. Whatever that means. Our room would hold four, but is only slated for three.
I have cruised without a passport for my daughter....a birth certificatae has been fine. I will have a court order from the judge. And I won't take the baby off the ship. I know, it may not be the best planning, but I didn't plan on this whole thing to happen when it did!!!! I understand everyone's suggestions about leaving the neice, or leaving the baby home, but at this point I really feel its all or none. I work full time and don't have that much time off to be with the kids. we're looking at alternatives......maybe Vero Beach, or the Beach Club Villas..........

Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that I just added my newphew to the August 21st sailing. He is 15 years old. I don't know if his age has something to do with my ability to add him to our reservation or not. I just added him this past Saturday.

Good luck and congratulations on your new addition. Hope everything works out for you.

DAMN!!!!!!! Now I really don't get this at all!! Must have something to do with the cabin we're in?? Or could it be that we got a really good deal, booking last August, and if they let some one new on in our palce, they'd make twice as much money????? This is so ridiculous and NOT something I need to be stressing about these days!!! Count down three days to baby........

I have been told that it depends on the age of the children that you are booking whether the ship is full or not. They may not have any more spaces for a baby, but they may have space for a teenager. I guess it depends on the clubs. Do they allow babies that young in the nursery?

Jw,
We booked last september so I don't think that has anything to do with it. Besides, we paid whatever the current rate is to add him on. It has to either be the size of your cabin, or the age thing.

I would say keep calling, there will be cancellations come the 60 day mark.

good luck

Mary

They only allow so many per age group on each cruise. On your particular cruise the baby inventory is high. They are trying to control the quality of the cruise for the adults on board. They want to make sure everyone has a fair shot at flounders reef who wants it. They limit the amount of children on each cruise to what the child services staff can handle.

Best wishes to you and your growing family.

ps is it possible to do a 7 day the week before or after. The on board credit is portable.

jweiss, I have a small suggestion. Why don't you call DCL and ask if it is due to the age of your new family member or due to your room size.

If it is the latter, are you able to trade cabins with someone? If someone on these boards have a room reserved that holds 4 people, like NYGiantsRule!, maybe they would be willing to trade with you. I don't think it matters to those simply holding a cabin for a summer booking, which cabin is reserved.

For all of our DISer friends, will DCL trade cabins if both parties are willing?

Thanks for listening!

I put your dates and ages of the girls and the baby into www.expedia.com all kinds of availabitity comes up. There . Cat 10, 9, 8,6 and 5.

I'm no expert I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong but what I think Disney does is gives some of the online companies and maybe some smaller travel service an amount of rooms to book.

It can't hurt to try it. After you pick what room you want a page comes up with a phone number to call to finish the transaction. It's a free number, so there's nothing to loose.

Good Luck and Congrats on the new baby!!
