Thank you.

That is what I get for not playing ketchup. Am I in trouble. I did not mention the name nor do I talk on their boards. Sometimes I talk before I read. Lisa I really did not mean to get in the middle of anything. I just got home from shopping and read the post. Here is a lot of flowers.:flower3: :flower3: :flower3: :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Trying to figure out a way to claim part of this trip as a "Business Expence" ;) you wouldn't happen to know of any model train/hobby shops in the Anaheim area would ya?

There are hobby/train enthusiast stores in abundance ALL OVER town. I have two in my area (adjoining Thousand Oaks). May I recommend you try a Yahoo yellow page search of Anaheim. Try trains under toys and hobbies or what ever retail establishment approximates that.

Also I recall there is a huge hobby store on Harbor near the (let me find it for you... pause)... OK... I found it... its' called Hobby City at 1238 South beach in Anaheim.... it's 10 acres of hobby shops and related businesses ... unfortunately my source says it has recently been sold to a developer who intends to tear it down to build condominiums in 2008. NOW... they said the same thing about Magic Mountain too but later the plan changed and now magic Mountain will not be torn down. Maybe Hobby city will still be operating next August. IF NOT... there are probably 100s of hobby shops within a 100 mile radius of Anaheim. Take your pick! Or if you want to narrow your criteria a bit I could find it for you - and in the next 3-6 months I could even snap photos of the exterior and/or interior as I drive by going to or leaving Disneyland. We go about 1-2x a month.

Ya kno...

... I just had to look a little further since the one place I posted earlier was slated for closure in 2008. And - this is someof what I found with the super-yellow pages...

About 8-10 miles south of DL... http://www.arniestrains.com

About 20-30 miles east of DL ... http://www.pegasushobbies.com

About 5 miles north of LA airport ... http://www.alliedmodeltrains.com

And here is the site of the main train store at Hobby City that is closing next year. Maybe you can contact them and see if they're not just MOVING to another location? http://www.prestige-hobbies.com/index.htm

There are 370 toy and hobby stores listed i Los angeles alone. That comprises only a fraction of the LA/Orange county area. Many true wholesalers and manufacturer distributors are located in the area. You can easily make it an ALL BUSINESS trip if you so wished.

Also... as a little "business tactic" (espionage) we used to look at the BOXES of the suppliers of our competitiors (sometimes noting the trash they tossed) to see where they got some of their stuff. THe importer marks always led us to the original import source for the LOWEST prices. In turn we eventually went overseas to find the manufacturers in our 25 years of business to import direct. Our business was furniture and general merchandise from Hong Kong/China. While browsing the superyellow pages on toys and hobbies - among the 370 listings were many who were importers of various toys and hobby things. I imagine a few must be "gems" for your trade. In turn... maybe a few may lead you to the source overseas - which might enable you to become a distributor to the trade. That may (or may not) be something to consider to diversify your sales volume and bottom line. Becoming an importing distrobutor DOES fatten your retail profit margins in the very least! In our businesses we always sought to distribute to the trade but sell a lot of retail. The smiles were well stretched that way! Also, we always removed the box source markings on our imported goods so no one could easily find were we imported from.

I guess this works with furniture - but on hobby goods everything must be marked on the retail package - eh? SO you may not need to look at the trash of a big train store...<chuckles>

I'll take the fireman! Can I have a fireman?? Can I huh? Please, pretty pretty please?????:rotfl:

You can have this guy...

Satisfied?

Or did I miss something....

<chuckles>

OK... I just figureed it out. You were referring to LISA shushing the "other site" thing... as in the fire fighters for putting out those flaring jets of fire. Ahhhh..... so, my fire eating guy above is NOT the apporpriate image (as originally suspected).

:crazy2: Oh for pity sake!! Never ask a man to do a woman's job!!!

THAT WOULD BE THE JOB OF FINDING A HUNK.....NOT what is pictured here........

GREAT GOOGLEY MOOGLEY!!!!

Loon? Not at all...and you were by yourself. Ever see what happens when 3, count 'em THREE "professionals" accidentally energize the wrong circuit--whilst one is touching bare wires--and arm the warhead section (minus the explosive package) of a guided missile?

:rolleyes1

Sometimes the "professionals" are the worst at this because they "Know what they are doing!" :confused3

So I'm still having a hard time keeping up with this group. What is this about another group and discounts on pre-cruise stay? We're coming from the east so would need to come in a day or two before. Any and all help appreciated.

If that doesn't do it for you, google image 'firefighter calendar'. There are some doozies, but I wasn't sure how much I could get away with on a family site.
