I can deal with everything but the landing - I hate it when the landing is rough. A few years ago we were flying to St. Louis for our convention and had to fly from Albany to Atlanta to St. Louis. Anyway there was some hurricane or other that was going on (cat 1) and when we landed in Atlanta I was almost reaching for the barf bag. The really funny thing is I was flying with one of the guys from work who has a real flying phobia and had run out of his meds. So during the take off and landings I agreed to hold his hand - when we got off the plane in Atlanta he had nail marks embedded into the palm of his hand.
Liftoff and landing don't bother me (except that until I figured out how to pop my ears I'd have MAJOR pain on landing) but turbulence? oh doggy.. I can't handle turbulence. It revs up my worrying to maximum level. Anxiety galore! Fortunately I've only experienced that once.

I agree! The pair I ordered came today.I wear between 8.5 & 9. I got a nine, they feel fine BUT they are UGLY on the feet. I am hoping that the comfort will make me see past the big fat glob of red where my feet used to be.
Are you talking about the regular kind or the flipflops? That's why I really like the flipflops and only wear the regular kind when it's somewhere I need to make sure my shoes won't fall off (like riding rides/etc.) I don't like how they make my feet look HUGE and I'm short- so it really looks funny. LOL Like clown shoes or something...

Now if I could only see the website I would know Theresa's DISname, so I might know who she is....:lmao:
I wonder who she is too... I probably know her by disname and not her real name.

Well, for me it was open new message > view > all headers....and it showed up. :thumbsup2 Thanks!
Wow, I never knew that and sure enough it was as simple as you said! Cool beans...

Remember you asked.............:lmao:
how about a white choc. dome
Whitechoc.jpg
mmmm, I never got anything like that for dessert on the cruise!

Why thank you. I had friends in college who suggested I should do stand-up comedy, but my "humor" is situational. I always thought Chandler on "Friends" was patterned after me -- I used humor as a defense growing up, too.
LOL
I'm hilarious with family and very close friends but I basically behave like that too- as a defense mechanism when I'm around people I don't know well or groups of people that I don't know them all that well. Funny you should mention Chandler, I totally "got" that type of humor.

I know you missed my earlier post.....but what if I get a depressed Pilot that wants to commit suicide??? Huh, then what??? :lmao:
ack- don't give me more things to worry about!

Now I have this image of you walking up to each of us on embarkation day and asking "Are you Theresa?" "Are you Theresa?" "Are you Theresa?"
Well they won't be walking around asking are you BIP, because I'll stand out in my RED SHIRT. ;)

Other News: I FINALLY ordered a pair of Mickey Crocs! Dick's Sporting Goods has the red in a Women's Small (6-7) which is one of the sizes I can wear. The 20% code had expired, but I did find a 10% click-through discount and used the Google checkout $10 off - Total = $21.49 which is a lot less than I was going to pay at Disney last month if they had my size.

pdarrah (Pamela)
Oh shoot! I thought that coupon didn't expire until end of march?? Bummer. :(

:rolleyes1 Boy, I really miss our web site.:rolleyes1
Yeah, me too!

You're nice! :thumbsup2

it's those other swabbies that are calling me names........MOMMY!
Oh sweetie, point me at em! I'll take care of those mean swabbies!

You & Judy. ;)
And me! trying to catch up and constantly staying behind until basically late at night (when most everyone is gone) and then multi-quoting has cut down my amount of posts lately also. LOL

Lisa, I know what your going thru. This winter we finally got the girls sleeping in their own beds. What we did which would be hard in your case was we had the older DD 11 put the younger DD 8 to sleep, they ended up sleeping in the same bed (full size), but thats fine. For the first time in 11 years we have enjoyed sleeping like "normal" people.
I've only RECENTLY been able to get the youngest to sleep in her own room alone. And she still fights me on it sometimes, especially weekends. We coslept with her until she was a bit older then she had to share a room with her older sister for awhile, so it's only been the past few years we've tried to get her to sleep in her own room and more likely than not didn't want to fight it so she'd sometimes sleep in her sister's room and sometimes "tenting" or "slumber bag" ing on the floor in brother's room... but FINALLY she's been sleeping in her own room. :) And it has only been recently that we haven't had a youngest child (from one to the other to the last now) not waking up at some point in the night needing something like a drink. It is blissful!

LOL! That 5th grade show made the adults look pathetic. Did ANY of them get a question right without using the kids? :sad2:
It was hilarious... but you could tell (especially with the lady) they were having them even act like they didn't know the answer when they did! Like the mayflower? She was totally acting like it was hard and she had no idea- but then said the right answer. Whatever. The only one I had 2 guesses for was the impeached president question. I never was good with remembering things like that (geography and then history are things I did well in school but then totally forgot almost all of it the minute I walked out of the school. my brain just does not WANT to remember that stuff, for some reason) Apparently that forgetting stuff starts early because my 9yr old knew the answer but my 13yr old didn't have a clue- couldn't remember.

OK, I was going to speak up here. ;) Someone will need to do the summaries while I am gone for 5 days though. I will have to send out a search party for Judy.
Where are you going for 5 days? We'll miss you!
I read all the posts so I can help with the summaries if you like.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Excellent point.

Seriously though. Have the folks who are afraid of flying thought about learning how to do it? Or at least the ground school portion, and may be a couple of lessons? It might help if you have a good understanding of what is really going on. I know that on past flights DH (who is a private pilot) has talked to seatmates who are afraid of flying. "So, now this is going to happen, and this is what the plane will feel like, and this is what the pilot is doing now." They said it really helped them

Ground school is available on DVD these days. Heck you could probably pick up a used set on eBay.
Oh no fluffing way! No way no how. DH would love to learn to fly but no no no no and no.

ok,bbb , you really are of strong opinions...:) , yes, that is true esp. for lil
girls..but growing up..it was forced upon taking your lil'brother. but i feel
a 14y/o should /would not be interested in 4-6 y/o level of play, isn't
that a freshman in high school vs first/second/third graders. girls at that
age ,baby sititing? but hanging out...we would not permitt.
I guess I do have strong opinions and I don't beat around the bush, remember?
I guess I just disagree but it depends strongly on the situation/circumstance and the gender. I do think that girls tend to start getting the maternal instincts and like hanging with younger girls- because they like the same things... fix hair, nails, etc. Like we recently had my eldest's bday party and it was all 13/14yr olds at the party... my 6yr old fit right in just like one of the older girls! Because she's a diva and loves that facial/nails painted/pedicure/fixing hair contest/etc. stuff.

Laura, I hope you feel better soon and everyone else that is not feeling well or has sick children. I hope you are all well soon!

Esteri, Theresa is wanted because Lisa said she's the one doing the new website and the new website is wanted! :)

Still missing Judy.. :rolleyes1

Now everyone is asleep now that I've caught up, right?

supergirl_fire2.gif

Well...

BIP is on FIRE tonight with a Supergirl style record breaking 17 multiquotes in ONE posting! That pretty much makes my 12 in one "compact" multi-quote insignificant by comparison! Congrats on your flight of fancy here!

Well...

... this really interests me cuz right now I have two little girls (age 3 and 5) trying to sleep or asleep on either side of me. I used to think - do normal folks do this? That is cuddle up with their kids to put them asleep? I've heard mention that some folks absolutely do not do this kind of thing ... while others very simply nod and smile graciously. While still others have remarked that the kids seem to be much "closer" with the parents this way. We sort of alternate a bit with my spouse sometimes substituting for me - and vice versa.

Tonight - for example, we were all supposed to hang with Mom as she was traveling one nite for a business dinner... and at the last moment we canceled on following her. You see... overnite they forecast rain in the area... and this means when it is cold enough we get enough SNOW to close the highway between her hotel and home. Meaning we would NOT be able to return home tomorrow in time for school. Also, if we went along then Mom would not have an easy option of simply staying away from home another nite and working out there. SO... I stayed home with the kids and Mom has a nite alone - and an easy option to return home if the roads are clear OR stay another nite away and work there IF the roads are closed.

At any rate... we were still unclear about how we would approach getting the kids to sleep alone or just the two of them together... as some have suggested. I was toying with the idea of shopping for kids furniture with them with say 2 beds in a cris cross bunk bed like configuration. Or maybe get them into two seperate bedrooms. SHoot... I am mildly confused and totally undecided on the matter now... but it IS something I am looking forward to - so my spouse and I can return to every nite being like it was before we had the kids.

:lmao:
Well that's what happens when I can't ever catch up... I read a few pages and I'm 10 more pages behind. It leads to multi-quote posts like that when I finally catch up!

Honestly, the easiest and fastest way you'd be able to get where you didn't sleep with them, whenever you decide you want them out of y'alls bed... is to have them either sleeping together or sharing a room. If you have room for both to have their own room, I'd suggest for awhile at young ages having one bedroom and one playroom. Seriously.
Only my oldest (read: only child at that time and also we were both working then, she was daycare baby and there was never any cosleeping, partly because of the apnea monitor she had as a young baby/etc.) slept alone at a young age. My son would CLIMB UP to the top of his crib and jump off at age 7mo. :scared1: Yes, you read that right. I knew he was getting out but somehow I thought he was climbing over. The first time I caught him getting out and saw HOW he was doing it- the crib came down. I had tried to cosleep with him too (because I had been told it made it easier to get some sleep when nursing- and that is true when it works... cause it worked with Rita) but he was totally a child that just could not sleep with us. Period. He would climb out of his crib and come get in bed with us but then he'd want to play or wake up every 5min when he was in bed with us/me. So, crib came down so he wouldn't kill himself jumping off there one day and he started sleeping in the bottom bunk (full size, not twin size) with Ruby. (she was age 4) He did start sleeping in his own room a lot earlier than my youngest though.

Youngest did REAL well with cosleeping and that morphed into sleeping with her older sister (when son was sleeping in his own room when he was about 3/4yrs old and she was over a year old, eldest about 7 then). Then we moved and the girls HAD to share a bedroom anyway... and then when we moved where they all had their own bedrooms (when youngest was about 4) -she still wouldn't sleep on her own. She's 6 now and we've barely got her to sleeping in her own room- occasionally she will "try" to camp out with brother or beg to sleep on sister's bottom bunk (sis sleeps on top bunk now by her own choice) but we're still working to get her to realize she has her own room and everyone needs their own space. I think if we didn't do the cosleeping with sis thing she would probably STILL be sleeping in bed with us- or at the very least have done so until recently, same time she stopped sleeping with sis.
Which is fine for some people... but I just don't sleep well with little legs and arms slinging everywhere and butts that end up in your face in the middle of the night or bed hogs that sleep sideways across the bed. All my kids are wild sleepers for some reason. LOL I was fine with it when they were small, but when they got bigger and could do some damage to you while you're asleep, I was tired of it at that point. LOL

Seriously, it would probably be a lot easier and less stressful on them, etc. etc. if they just had a sleeping room together- either same larger bed, bunkbeds or seperate beds in same room.. if you have two rooms, like I said for awhile that could be the playroom. Then later the rooms could be changed to seperate bedrooms. Yanno? Just my opinion. :)

Very weird. My 3:11am post is not showing even when I refresh this thread or come back to it/etc. yet it shows my post down below when I go to click to make another post like I'm doing now. Strange...
Nevermind. Now it's there. *rolling my eyes at my disappearing then reappearing post*

 Good Morning Crew

My weren't we a chatty group last night, I wake up this morning to see 30 pages were added, time to go skimming.

I'm also on hold with our utility company, I woke up this morning to find out hot water heater leaking all over our utility floor. I guess I can't complain, the hot water heater was installed just before we moved in this house back in July 1980.

Andy have you had MRI's of your knees done yet?

Sorry Peter, I had already signed off before I saw your message from last night. Yes, I did have an MRI done of my left knee before I had the partial knee replacement done in March 2001. I will be seeing my orthopedic doc in March for my annual check-up. We will be discussing the next course of action to take. I'm hoping a few Synvisc injections will do the trick, but I'm not sure at this point, will have to wait and see what they doc says.

Now I was soo ready for Adam to get his license. He got his permit soon after he turned 16 and license about 7 months later. It was so nice to have him drive to football practices and school. He has really been responsible also no tickets or accidents. The worse part was insurance. For the 1st year it was $2200 every 6 months!!:scared1: But the rates have improved as he has gotten a little older. I hear the rates aren't as bad for girls.

I hope not, or there goes our "Trip of a Lifetime."

Got caught up for the time being, now I have to get DD some breakfast. ;)
