I have alot of those same triggers including the crocheting! Another trigger for some reason is being on vacation. To me, for some odd reason smoking and vacation go together. Every vacation I tell myself to go ahead and smoke but just on vacation. I haven't smoked yet, but maybe it's because I give myself permission ;)

The only time I feel the urge is when we drive 26 hours to WDW. Something about watching DH drive & get stressed out of his mind. Well that & extreme boredom makes me want to light up & I haven't smoked in 23 years.

Stacey that must scare the heck out of you!!! :scared1:

Jay & I were in the room and heard this "thump..thump...ha ha ...thump"
and there was DS and friend...suddenly on our balcony! They were lauging and we were NOT. But chewing them out didn't do much good, as they showed their trick to DD and she and her friends had to try it too. :sad2:

CRASH....your last question about dessert OFF the Magic/Wonder....did you mean dessert anyplace other than the ships? That's how I took it, but it looks like I'm the only one who did:confused3

Kids! Ha! They'll be the death of us yet. They did, after all, give us every gray hair on our heads!! :scared1:

We have had a full time nanny before - and we tried replacements, various day care alternatives - and so on. But we are VERY PARTICULAR about who we employ with our kids and in our home. IE... many folks who have a nanny say she is the greatest - EXCEPT -- every now and then things DISSAPPEAR. TO my spouse and I this is totally unacceptable. So much is IMPLIED silently by petty thievery.

Aside from that... I think EVERYONE has sacrifices to make if they have kids. Especially young ones. If you run two careers full time - that's great! But the flexability is narrow. I have a flexable business so I was the one to take the reins over the kids - and TRY to maintain what I could in business. And - I have time to post sometimes.

My image trolling is sometimes very fast - and other times I can't find an image at all and generally will not post at all. SO - it's "all or nothing" with me. WHich - BTW - was a nick name some friends used to apply in referring to me sometimes. In the matter of our kids - I am "ALL" the way committed to them... as are all of us here who have kids in tow.

I was a full time live in nanny while waiting for OCS classdate to arrive for almost a year...started with a 6 mo & 2 yo. The mother was a PM RN & the father a cheif on a ship. Many days the mother saw the girls while they ate breakfast as she passed thru on her way to bed. I fixed dinner & she came out ready to go to work. They couldn't take the fact that the baby had seperation anxiety from me and not them. One thing that experience made me realize was that I didn't want anyone else raising my kids IF I ever had them. At that point I was still career minded going into the Naval intel division to travel the world. On our trip thru Nova Scotia that is one thing that DH2B & I talked about...just 4 months after we had met. IF I ever had kids, I wanted to raise them. (please don't take this as anything against anyone who is not a SAHM...this is just what I learned thru my experience because I saw how the mother resented me) I am lucky enough that DH has a job that allows me to be here for the kids. Of course, we live in pohdunk, NC and the great rate I worked up to before staying home of 7.24 ph in 1998. That was quite the drop for me from working in VA so it doesn't pay for me to go to work here in the long run. When & if we move closer to a big city where I could have something left after daycare...I will probably return to an office. I have been thinking about getting into a job that I can do from home like medical billing though.

About 40 pages back, there was some mention of Herman's Hermits. Well, I just found out that Peter Noone (Herman) is going to be one of the guest judges on American Idol and they showed his photo. He was very popular when I was about 9 or 10 which means he has to be in his 60's or very close to it. He didn't look a day over 40 in the photo! It's making me feel very UNpreserved!

He was only like 16 when the group was on top of the charts. I've seen him several times on VH1.

Then maybe I'll just have to yell out zero when I hear a pirate joke while at DL!:lmao:

LOL! I can see us now. Spot a DISer across the walk way & yell out the burning question....

HEY! DID YOU GET A ROOM YET?

Nah Paula, not exciting, I've just had some crazy things happen to me along the way. Like my DH worked in the World Trade Center in 2 WTC, during the time of the first bombing. The only reason he wasn't there that day was because me and our brand new baby son were coming home from the hospital. As a matter of fact, that bombing occurred exactly 14 years ago tomorrow! I also worked in 1 WTC on the 89th Floor, but it was in the earlier 1990's and I had terrible premonitions (well intution really) that something terrible was going to happen. When the towers were bombed in 1993 I thought that was the terrible event. Boy was I ever wrong. :sad1:
Those were sure some scary times MR.
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

My kids climbed (more than once) from the aft public deck 8 to our balcony in 8602 (the big huge one) but if they fell, they would have only fallen onto Secret Deck Aft 7. I think. :sad2:

Kevin was dating the daughter of the Chief of Police on a Federal Reserve(Ft. Snelling in MN). He got busted after prom night with an open bottle and a bag. After the Feds literally tore the car apart, mom came to bail him out and told him he had a court date in 2 weeks downtown. Federal property+federal court=Big Trouble! 10 days into the 2 weeks mother finally let me in on the punishment, which turned out to be nothing more than a guilt trip. There was No court date,No federal rap. I'm sure those cops had a GREAT party on his behalf.:rotfl:

Your mom was a smart lady! Scared straight!!

in a few hours you guys added soooo many pages. Ill be back just need to go ketchup

I'm addicted the other way - it's a good source of quick cash, but you have to have something that they are buying.

We sell sometimes too but I love the bargains so I buy much more than sell! :lmao:
Don't start Paula or you might end up needing a intervention like me (and maybe Mark) :lmao:

DH spends more time on Ebay than I do on the DIS - REALLY! :scared1: He both buys and sells. He uses separate ID's, one for buying and one for selling - but he NEVER would bid on his own auction (Its hard to believe how scummy some people are....) His selling ID has somewhere between 1100 and 1200 feedbacks at 99.9%. The 1 negative among all those was just a really weird person. During his main "selling season" from October - May, I usually ship around 20 boxes per week for him (more before the holidays). Unfortunately, pretty much everything he makes from Ebay - he spends on Ebay (or at antique stores)! He collects depression glass and his Ebay selling supports his habit! We're thinking of selling some of our comic book collection, so hopefully that money would be for something other than more glass! We have so much collectible glass, that DS7 will groan whenever DH walks in with a box - "Oh no - he's got more glass!" even before DH says what it is.

Henry the VIII to Battle of New Orleans. Now that is random.
While we're at random association - your song reminded me The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (at least it is a nautical story-song)

Cool - a "Great Lakes" song. I love that type of music (although I agree that Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was seriously overplayed on the radio once-upon-a-time). My favorite singer (who probably no one has ever heard of!) is a folk singer who specialized in the songs of the Great Lakes. His name is Lee Murdock and he must be getting more "popular" since he doesn't actually play much around here anymore and is touring out of the midwest more and more. Many of the Great Lakes songs are about shipwrecks - but there are some lighter stories, shanties and nonsense songs so it isn't all doom and gloom. I think his most "famous" (at least in the world of folk music  ) is The Christmas Ship. Since he wrote it, there is now a play about the ships that brought the Christmas trees to Chicago and the Coast Guard has started re-enacting it and bringing Christmas Trees to Navy Pier to give to needy families. If anyone is interested in that type of music, his website is at http://www.leemurdock.com/ and I think some of his stuff is on Itunes.

I spent as much free time as possible reading and you can't get into too much trouble that way!

I was an avid reader & basically devoured books. I remember getting Little House on the Prarie in kindergarten and the rest of the series soon after. Reading allowed me to escape.
