OK, that was my abbreviated version. Now, here's the whole story. I worked at a music supply warehouse in Bloomington,MN. Kevin was hired as a temp to do year end inventory. I had seen him around, thought he was pretty cute.
One day, he was climbing around on some pallet racking up in the rafters(40ft)marking boxes...I was on the floor pulling record orders(telling my age).
As he was crossing around a beam,he stepped on a loose board and it fell. Somebody hollered "Look out!" When he got himself turned around, he looks down on the floor to see this "cute chick" sprawled out on the floor, with the 2x4 lying next to her head and eyes shut. I then opened my eyes,;) and said "Hi". The rest is, as they say, is history.

:rotfl: Very funny!:rotfl:

You sound like my DH - but then he sees some cute puppy and gives me the look and I have to remind him we already have two at home.

Oh Boy, I'm so off the topic here but I just had to share my wonderful Valentine's Day and a happy ending. Sadly, I both my beautiful German Shepherds died suddenly within the last 6 months. The whole family was mourning them. Especially, DGS (Matt) as they were very attached and protective of him.
Well, we checked out the German Shepherd rescue website and Matt & I went today and brought home a lovely, young female Shepherd. We just got back home. Her name is Annie and already she & Matt have bonded.
I told DH forget the flowers this is the best Valentine's gift I could ever want.

Just had to share - now I'll go back and see what I've missed and what you guys are chatting about now.

Chris:yay:

NOT off topic!
I'm so glad you shared your happy Valentine's day with us!
I'm so glad you found someone special for your family on this special day!

I thought I would jump in before getting caught up with all the posts.:thumbsup2

I met my partner for life when we were 16 years old. I was going steady with a guy;) when I met my true love.:woohoo: We met the day of junior year in high school. We were in a shopping mall just before school started for the year. (now torn down) A mutual friend introduced us. Our eyes locked on each other and that was it!!! :cloud9: I broke up with the other guy and we have been with each other ever since. We have now known each other 44 years :hippie: and have been married soon to be 39 years. It will be 40 years when we take our cruise.

The recent spam stinks. That is so not cool. Can't believe a fellow cruiser would stoop so low.

The snow is still coming down. Only about 8 inches so far. I'm on the coast, but further inland got clobbered. Supposedly over 1,000 closing and cancellations were reported today. Just heard the sleet whipping against the window. Going to love catching the bus in the morning!

My life stories... mostly boring. ;) Never engaged. Never married. No sick or injured kids. But 6 nieces and nephews usually keep me busy.

<ahhhhh>

Speaking of nieces. My two youngest nieces called tonight to tell them that their daddy gave them a special present for Valentines day. We're all going to Boston on Saturday (Aquarium & Disney on Ice).... and guess how we're going to get there????

AMTRAK!!!! :scared1:

OK....

Time to read myself a bedtime story and get some sleep.

Don't worry Capt - I don't blame you - and whoever it is, I just reported the SPAM.

Was the SPAM directing us to another web site, besides ours? I've just received 2 of them that my SPAM filter didn't catch.:confused3

Yes, Yes, I know. As I sit here with the big Gray couch hog. And your bird and my bird both watching TV though their bars, I can hear the guinea pig asking for some more carrots.

DH is home and wanting to eat his Valentine cupcakes (I love Starbucks . . .LOL)

I got him a $50 stateroom credit for the cruise. When I called DCL to purchase it, the CM thought it was so cool that we'll have a stack of stateroom credit when we get there and that card will say "Happy Valentine's Day 2007" DH was thrilled. :cloud9:

Special thanks to the person who shared that idea earlier in these lengthy postings.

Cool, another member of the secret marriage club. Anybody else besides us two?

We had to keep our first marriage secret b/c my wife's Puerto Rican Catholic grandparents would have murdered me in my sleep. We couldn't even let on to them we were living together even though her parents were fine. (She was worried about her Dad's reaction -- but his response was 'he's paying half the rent, right?" -- he was happy to not have to pay her full rent anymore. :rotfl:)

Well I don't have a secret marriage but how about this......

Me & DH bought a townhouse right before we got married. Well it wasn't completed on time. They said it would be ready 2 to 3 weeks after we returned from our honeymoon. So after our honeymoon we each went back to OUR MOTHER'S HOUSES! My DM wouldn't let me spend the night with my legally wedded husband! DH use to call for me at my DM's house and we would commute to work together. Sometimes we didn't even eat dinner togther. Well, you guessed it, two weeks turned into 3 months :scared1: Finally, my DH drove out to the builders office an explained our delicate situation and through himself on the mercy of the builder. Well being a fellow swabbie, he put all his guys on the job pronto and we were able to move in the very next weekend! I guess I don't have to tell you what that weekend was all about ;) ;) ;) ;)

People can never get over that story! But it's 100% true! My poor DH, how does he put up with it all!

Welcome Aboard!!!

Glad you are joining us.

Ok, but you cannot tell Janie I told you. I don't think she is lurking on this thread. She doesn't like me to tell the story.

We were both working on the student newspaper in college. I was the News Editor and I was sitting at my desk typing up something and she was working with her friend, who was the advertising manager. They were cutting up ads and gluing them down. She CLAIMS she was 'shaking tape' off her X-acto knife. All I know is the knife came flying across the room and stuck into my arm. I still have the scar.

I didn't know her at the time. I was pretty mad and she was apologetic. We got to know each other after that and I tutored her in Calculus. (See, I am not as dumb as I look.) We dated on and off for three years before we moved in together.

BTW, I don't like Valentine's Day because one of the times we broke up, it was on V-Day. I gave her a present, she dumped me for another guy. (The timing was coincidental -- she was co-oping out of town and came up for the weekend and wanted to tell me face-to-face and it happened to be Valentine's Day).

Ahhhh, the 'ole shaking tape off the X-acto knife trick. Works every time ;)

Night - stay safe & warm!

Ok, I'll share my story..

I had just moved from the city to the burbs and wanted to meet other single people, so i joined a ski club. First trip, I am are on a bus traveling to the ski area until 3 am. I was sitting with another lady and 2 guys were in front of us. They had the beer, so we shared it with them and talked to them all night. One of the guys was a ski instructor, so he taught me to ski that weekend. :thumbsup2 and then we started dating. We dated for 7 months. I had a job offer in Philadelpia and had accepted. He showed up at my door during his lunch hour and asked me to marry him and not leave. We have been married 17 years.

Whoa, I wouldn't like my husband to tell that story either, if I'd first met him by stabbing him with a knife. LOL

When I do tell people the story in her presence, her answer is always "well, I got your attention, didn't I?"
