Hey welcome back. I am wondering if your ears were burning because I was just thinking about you. Literally, just now. Wondering where you had been and missing all your posts.

Good to see ya!!!

Thank you! That's really nice to hear!! Just life getting in the way of the fun. Something wrong with that, don't you think?
And just about the time I have some free time to DIS, we're heading out of town for the weekend. Going to San Francisco! :woohoo: Maybe I'll get to DIS at night........

Andy, glad to hear your power is back. I have a gravity heat furnace and when we have had a power outage in the winter it is so nice, I still have heat. Probably going to get a new furnace this spring with AC. The fuel bills this past two winters were killers. Need something more efficent.

Not buying the evil twin thing. No one ever believes my evil twin Skippy story! LOL! :lmao:

Just sitting here relaxing because our electric went out about an hour ago (1:50pm on 2-14-07). Happy Valentine’s Day to us. It was 72* in the house when the power went off, we are now down to 65* time to bundle up. The electric company said it could take until tomorrow morning to get our power back on. Hey, at least we are saving on our electric bill, LOL!!!

If things get too bad, we might be looking for a hotel room for the night, if we can find one in the area with electric that is, LOL!!!

Angelina went to her friend’s house after school and they don’t have any electric at her friend’s house either. Looks like this is a wide spread outage, oh joy!!!

At least I do have some battery life left on my laptop and I am saving this message in Microsoft Word so I can post it later.

Well, I guess that’s all for now.

******************************************************************

Update:

Yea, the power came back on around 4:30pm, went back off for about two minutes, then came back on and stayed on, at least for now, LOL!!!

It’s back up to 67* and climbing!!!

Now to go back and see what I missed the past few hours. ;)

You guys need to snuggle up and stay warm tonight!!

All these romantic stories are making me feel inadequate (hmm, women making me feel inadequate -- methinks there be a theme in there).

I 'proposed' to SWMBO (my one and only proposal) in the 3rd street tunnel under Interstate 75 in Atlanta. We'd been living together for about six months and always knew we'd get married when we graduated college, and we were discussing where we would live after we got out of school and plans for the fall and I said 'we probably should pick a date for the wedding'. She stopped and asked me if I was serious and I was like 'um, yeah. Let's go back and look for a good date'.

She tells people I never got down one knee. I tell her we were in a grimy pedestrian tunnel underneath an Interstate. I love her, but not enough to get down on my knee in there.

No romantic down on one knee story here either! We'd also lived together for about 6mo when one day, leaving a grocery store no less... DH says he has a surprise for me for my birthday. Or that he's going to. Now this was in JUNE (June 6th to be exact) and my birthday wasn't until July 31st. Anyone who knows me knows you cannot tell me you're going to give me a surprise then not tell me what it is for almost 2mo. So I nagged him what my surprise is- until finally he said let's go... and we went to the store (that same day) and he had me look at rings.
Yes, that's right.. we went and got the ring right then and he never even really said "will you marry me". I guess we just both knew what the answer would be.

Lisa I must have missed something but does you DH job take him away repeatedly? I read that he was away while you were planning you Geeks cruise, but I thought it was a one off thing. If he is making planes safe, well God Bless him for sure, but for you and your kids, it's got to be tough. We are humans after all, and we are born to adapt, and so of course when DH comes home it throws all of your "new" routines you all adapted in his absence into an uproar.

Anyway, I'm glad you back to just the "regular" 8-year-old boy problems now. My DS, 13, is so closed-mouthed about everything. We keep at him until he spills it, but it's like an explosion. I so wish it didn't have to get to that point before he would talk to us about what's bothering him Boys are a mystery to me as a girl. Although my DD is more moody and cranky, I understand instinctively where she's coming from.

So Swabbies, I know you all think women are hard to figure out. But I think men are hard to figure out. Why do you guys say so little about thing most of the time??? Our own Pirate Pluto is a perfect example ;)

DH is the lead systems engineer on the V22 program. The planes are now back in service but he was in charge of all of the inspections for the changes after the last crash in 12/00. He was usually gone 40-50% of the year for business travel. It is made by Bell in Arlington and Boeing in Pa with parts made everywhere inbetween. I sometimes get a call asking me to pack a suitcase for him for X number of days & he will be catching a flight out in a few hours. :( In 9/05 he started the government's executive leadership graduate program. That is why he was gone 10 1/2 months during the next year. There were 8 weeks of classes, 4 1/2 months in DC with an internship at the NTSB, and 2 months in MD with another internship. Add his regular travel to that and the fact that when he was home he was working on his project or reports or catching up at the office...and we basically didn't see him much.

A friend suggested that you need to do something to get boys busy like toss a ball or shoot hoops or play a board game to get them talking. That really worked for me & DS. We didn't always finish the game because once we got into it he was upset & preferred to cuddle in the easychair while talking but it did get the talk started. I never would have gotten what was really bothering him out if I hadn't tried that method.

It was hard on me...and the stress from that probably contributed to the stress from the PTO & life in general that triggered the major anxiety attack that I had in May. I am getting better all the time...thanks to a good doctor & meds.

Sounds like the boss in Office Space....have you seen that? You know the guy whose always carrying his coffee cup around.....

Steve Lumberg.......

"Yeah I'm gonna need you to come in tomorrow around 8." :lmao:

You'll be in my neck of the woods....it's supposed to be nice this weekend, sunny and high 60's.

I say that all the time - everything happens for a reason. It has gotten me through some pretty tough times, and made me a stronger person for it.

It's not always easy to accept at the time but a major disappointment in my life ended up being a blessing in disguise. If I had gone on to be a Naval Intell officer I would not have met DH.

Neither.....just because you set it up so nicely...how could we not respond????

You walked right into it.

Oh, okay. I was worried because it usually takes people more than just a few weeks to figure out I am an idiot.

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear that about you MIL. I'll keep her in my prayers! What a strong woman she must be!

I've heard you mention PTO a few times and I'm wondering if you wouldn't mind explaining what PTO stands for?

(I keep thinking it's like PTA at school but not sure if that's what PTO stands for- parent teachers organization?)

AWWW All these sweet proposal stories....

OK heres mine....
Yeah we were living together too. I knew it was coming.....but didnt know when.........One day at the Zoo
( I LOVE THE ZOO) He pulled me over to a bench and sat me down....Yup he got down on the one knee......

And the rest is history....Neither one of us is sure if I actualy said YES. You know with all the blubbering and crying and tears etc .....

Well, DW just finished filing her claim for lost luggage and her coworker is almost done. I'm amazed that they managed to lose luggage when the plane never left the airport!

Dinner's only pizza tonight. I wasn't expecting her to be home. But I do have brownies in the oven and a cold bottle of champagne. I know she'll need a drink.

Kristina (GoofyForLife)...love your wench name!:thumbsup2

No room assignment for us either. I'll still be checking several times daily for the next 18 months or until we get one!

OMG!!! That is just inexcusable!!! :headache:

Someday I'll get SWMBO to tell you how we met. It involves her throwing a knife at me.
