That's OK Andy, my evil twin wont hold it against you. She will deal with Randy.

I think this is one my fav smilies!

I was engaged twice my self, the first time was November and second one in August - and I'm also glad the second one stuck!

I was also engaged twice, but to the same woman, we've been married going on 32 years now!!!

Long story short, we got engaged, I moved to Colorado to attend school, broke off the engagement, was out there for three months, couldn't stand to be seperated from Hazel, moved back to NJ in July, and we were married that October.

How romantic, lucky lady!

Yes...that made up for the way he asked me...though he never really asked a question. LOL! We were walking and talking about the money that he was finally being awarded from our move here after an attorney had to get involved because the lovely person at the base here didn't like people getting paid by the weight of the move & milage so he changed DH's orders after the fact. OY! What a headache. Anyhow he told me that he wanted to give me some of the money since I had helped with the move...that was in 1/95 for anyone keeping track ;)...and I told him to buy something for the house. He then said that he had been thinking of buying a ring with some of it....and kept walking! :scared1: I couldn't believe what I had heard. I kind of screeched ARE YOU SERIOUS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? He said forget it but I told him no. He asked Well? I told him that I hadn't heard a question. We ended up walking the rest of the way home not saying much. I think that we were both in shock. :lmao: I started to make dinner & he went in to watch TV. I stopped & went in and asked him if we were really engaged...like could we tell anyone? :lmao: He said that he needed to eat something first because he wasn't feeling so well. :rotfl: We called our parents after dinner...then of course the entire office knew when I went in the next day...along with anyone else I happened to run into.

The therapist I talked to for DS ended up helping us gain a better perspective on the situation. She said that it is like going thru a divorce to the kids with the same behavioral issues. DS was acting out & had major anger issues because he was keeping it all inside. Once he admitted that he missed Dad & didn't like being the man of the house some of it got better. After DH came home we all had to go thru a reconsiliation. I had to get use to him being here again. DS was directing his anger towards DH but we eventually worked thru it & he realized that he hated Daddy's job...not Daddy. He then got to learn exactly what DH does & how important it is because he makes sure the plane is safe so noone else's Mom or Dad get hurt. I told him how hard it is for me & that I don't like his travel either BUT it is DH's job that lets me stay home with them. He eventually understood & is proud of his Dad now. I think we are back to the standard battle with an 8 yo now.

Lisa I must have missed something but does you DH job take him away repeatedly? I read that he was away while you were planning you Geeks cruise, but I thought it was a one off thing. If he is making planes safe, well God Bless him for sure, but for you and your kids, it's got to be tough. We are humans after all, and we are born to adapt, and so of course when DH comes home it throws all of your "new" routines you all adapted in his absence into an uproar.

Anyway, I'm glad you back to just the "regular" 8-year-old boy problems now. My DS, 13, is so closed-mouthed about everything. We keep at him until he spills it, but it's like an explosion. I so wish it didn't have to get to that point before he would talk to us about what's bothering him Boys are a mystery to me as a girl. Although my DD is more moody and cranky, I understand instinctively where she's coming from.

So Swabbies, I know you all think women are hard to figure out. But I think men are hard to figure out. Why do you guys say so little about thing most of the time??? Our own Pirate Pluto is a perfect example ;)

Now that's love!

Just talked to her again. After 12 hours at the airport, they finally decided to cancel her flight. The earliest they can get her on another one is Sat. morning. Only problem is that her return flight leaves SanDiego at 10:30 AM Sat morning.

She's been waiting for her luggage now for about an hour. At first, they weren't even going to unload their luggage. They were going to send their luggage to Ca, let it go unclaimed, then ship it back home and deliver it to the house sometime next week. Gotta love the airlines.

At least she's safe and should be home soon.

:grouphug: It may have been a hassle for her but sometimes things happen for a reason. It doesn't sound like she was meant to be in CA for that meeting.

That's totally romantic Andy!!

Any other Pirates with multiple engagements? :rotfl: Well we are Pirates you know :lmao:

I say that all the time - everything happens for a reason. It has gotten me through some pretty tough times, and made me a stronger person for it.

With all the snow excitment, I forgot to tell you about what happened at work.

Some folks wanted to get invovled with the Relay for Life and had a little meeting about it for those who were interested. They had breakfast goodies, so what the heck, I went. ;)

Anyway, we're sitting there, they do their little speil, a former co-worker who survived breast cancer and had retired in September came back to talk about the ACS and relay for life. One of our other co-workers passed away last summer after suffering from cancer for a long time. In the end, we all thought it would be a good way to honor her and decided to try to get a group together to do it. :thumbsup2

Then, one of the people who came up with this bright idea got up and said "OH and we forgot. This year this is a theme to the walk. 'Let's make Cancer walk the plank!' It's a pirate theme!!" It got dead silent and, no kidding, everyone in the room turned around and looked at me! :confused3 I have no clue what all that's about! ;)

:rolleyes1 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And I like wine.
And cheese.

i am not really a wine drinker but i enjoyed our wine/cheese meet on the Dec cruise. My DH's brothers have given us bottles of wine the last couple years and we've never used them or had a place to keep them (they really got shoved to the back of the pantry.)

Two weeks ago DH and i found a cute little wine rack at IKEA for 8 bucks or so. It holds nine bottles. At least i have a place to display our bottles now as they wait to be drank.

Valentines Day is also special for me and my DH. He proposed to me on 2/15/91. He said he didnt want to do it on actual valentines day so we could have our own day. He had picked up the ring the weekend before and froze it in an ice cube and then the night after V-Day came home from work and asked me if I wanted a drink. After I finished my drink he offered a refill and said why dont you drink that last little bit and by that time the ice had melted enough for me to see the ring. He did the whole down on one knee thing too. It is a great memory and I would say yes all over again - I definately got one of the good ones!!!!

AWWWWWWE! :goodvibes
