And I was so close to grabbing another pirate: -probably just a nanosecond behind!
But if a swabbie had to get it, I'm glad it was you Captaincrash. Unless this wasn't your first one, in which case I take it back! LOL

This was my 1st 1000th posting (on this thread)...

And thank yous for everyone else who chimed in with complements. I can't begin to tell all of you how releived I am ... as now I'll not be thinking anymore about what dress size I might have been, and so on. If this went on any further then my line on refusing to join the Wench ranks might have begun to crumble!

Oh good grief. They lost luggage that never even left the airport? Incompetent!

Who did she fly, Mike? US Scare..... They're famous for loosing things right under their noses....

The luggage had probably already been put on a flight....

We once had our connection changed en route to MCO. (our little puddle jumper didn't get us to PIT in time to make the bigger plane) US Scare rebooked us on a flight that was leaving 15 minutes later though.

We got to MCO and our luggage wasn't with the luggage on our later flight. So we go to the lost luggage office. (yeah scarey, we;ve been down that road many times flying US Scare) The lost luggage office claims they can't trace yet and have no idea where it is.

As we were leaving the luggage office something caught my eye on some of the luggage in their storage room of to the side. It was the bright yellow ribbons i had tied to OUR SUITCASES. So even though we didn't make the early flight..our luggage did and US Scare didn't even know they had it.

Afte we claimed ours, i went out to the rest of those who were alos bumped and missing luggage and they found theirs in the back room too.:sad2:

Gee I thought I was bad, I only swore at mine! ;)

DH did get down on one knee & propose. It was by a castle in Glouster, MA in the snow. I kept giggling & I said "yes will you get up now...it's freezing"! He even had red roses & champagne in the trunk.

You're DH is romantic too Diane!

Any of us Wenches do the Proposing?

Yeah, yeah. We hear you. Swabbies Rock, Wenches talk.

I was also engaged twice, but to the same woman, we've been married going on 32 years now!!!

Long story short, we got engaged, I moved to Colorado to attend school, broke off the engagement, was out there for three months, couldn't stand to be seperated from Hazel, moved back to NJ in July, and we were married that October.

Awww....that has to be one of the best proposal/wedding stories YET!

DH didn't do the knee thing either. We had been dating for about 7 months and I had decided after 3 that he was the one - it took him 2 months just to kiss me!

Anyway, it was a Sat. and we usually saw each other every night anyway but for some reason he wanted to be sure we were going to dinner THAT night - even calling me at work to make sure we were still "on". I wasn't feeling well and told him so and he sounded so forlorn on the phone when he asked it that meant I didn't want to go to dinner. Well, I figured something was up so I said that dinner was on - I'd go home a lay-down for a while to make the dinner reservation for later on.

We go to dinner and all the while I'm waiting for something - besides him blowing his nose every 5 minutes (he went water skiing earlier that day and spent more time in the water than on the skis!). So nothing at dinner, nothing at desert.:confused3

After dinner we go for a drive down to the waterfront and he suggests we go for a walk. We get started and he asks me to wait a minute - he forgot his tissues. He runs back to the car and get's his leather coat with his tissues - it's August, what does he need a coat for?:confused3 So, we walk for a while and then sit down on a bench and look at the water and the full moon just relaxing when he tells me to close my eyes and hold out my hand. So of course, I do the girlie thing and hold our my left hand, palm side down so he can put the ring on my finger. He turns it over and puts the jewelry box in it, and tells me to open my eyes. There in my hands is the ring box opened up with my engagement and wedding ring (I had shown them to him months before but didn't think he remembered). He never got the chance to even ask me - between the tears I just kept saying yes over and over.

And he's been that way every since - very romantic and does tries to do things when I least expect it.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

So here's the story on how my DH "proposed" to me:
We were driving down the road and he said "You know, I have this plan for my life." And he went on to detail where he wanted his business to be in the future, some of the ideas he had for owning properties, how he thought he'd like to have a child or two..... and then he said "And I think that you could fit into that plan". Period. Nothing more. I sat there for a while and finally said "Are you saying we should get married?" And he said "Well, yeah, I guess that's part of the plan".
MISTER ROMANTIC.
LOL!
Sounds about as romantic as my guy!

Since we are all sharing proposal stories ...I will share my short one .....My Sweet Melissa actually Proposed to Me ...Thats right ....okay now a little back story ....I had been married before (twice actually) and swore I would never propose to another women again ...Melissa knew that I was content with just being together and she also knew I would never ask ...So she did something out of the ordinary and got a ring for me to wear and proposed to me .....Another corny story from your Captain ...LOL

Hello folks...

... just ducking in for a few minutes before I gotta ru off again... and I can see folks appearantly sharing proposal stories...

Ours was over dish washing. We had just had a dinner with a few friends and I asked my spouse... "isn't that something?... Dave and Amber are gettin' married, Dave and Catherin, Ted and Judy too... and Dave and Jennifer... and so on... and then I asked - what do you think ... you suppose we should get married?"... and she just froze ... and looked at me and said... "... what?... is that it?".... I said... "???? what were you expectin'?".... and she said... "... you do have ring don't you?".... and I said... " ... I need a ring???"... she roller her eyes and said... "... you've at least called my father, havn't you?"... and I said ... "... what? I have to ask him too???".

Excuse me but I do think we're still way ahead. It's wenches rule, swabbies drool.
CAPTAIN ROCKS.
Don't make him have to get the plank out for ya.

Crash,

It looks like the plan worked again. We now got 2 of the last 3!

Maybe one of the other Swabbies in the loop will get the next one. :thumbsup2

Avast Mates!

We'll have ta be careful with the secret codes that we've been using - as we don't want the Wenches ta learn of it!

At any rate... now lets return to our regularly scheduled programming...

BTW... I am still in mild amazement....
a 1000 posts a day or so???...
is that our current pace?
I believe it was just YESTERDAY at 2:19 PM that we ran for the 20,000th spot!?

:goodvibes Sounds like you're living proof of the old saying "third times the charm"!

O.K. kids, I'm heading home. Not sure if I will be back on tonight or not, so I will say "Good Night" now.

You and 13 others. There was 15 posts stamped 6:58 (CST). Talk about a mad rush.

LOL I wasn't talking about time stamp- mine was next in line is what I meant.

Captain, you are certainly dedicated to the details!!

Okay now here's some more questions:

The marriage you are in now- is it your first?

and even if it isn't, how long have you been married to the one you are married to now?

:)
