DH didn't do the knee thing either. We had been dating for about 7 months and I had decided after 3 that he was the one - it took him 2 months just to kiss me!
Anyway, it was a Sat. and we usually saw each other every night anyway but for some reason he wanted to be sure we were going to dinner THAT night - even calling me at work to make sure we were still "on". I wasn't feeling well and told him so and he sounded so forlorn on the phone when he asked it that meant I didn't want to go to dinner. Well, I figured something was up so I said that dinner was on - I'd go home a lay-down for a while to make the dinner reservation for later on.
We go to dinner and all the while I'm waiting for something - besides him blowing his nose every 5 minutes (he went water skiing earlier that day and spent more time in the water than on the skis!). So nothing at dinner, nothing at desert.
After dinner we go for a drive down to the waterfront and he suggests we go for a walk. We get started and he asks me to wait a minute - he forgot his tissues. He runs back to the car and get's his leather coat with his tissues - it's August, what does he need a coat for?

So, we walk for a while and then sit down on a bench and look at the water and the full moon just relaxing when he tells me to close my eyes and hold out my hand. So of course, I do the girlie thing and hold our my left hand, palm side down so he can put the ring on my finger. He turns it over and puts the jewelry box in it, and tells me to open my eyes. There in my hands is the ring box opened up with my engagement and wedding ring (I had shown them to him months before but didn't think he remembered). He never got the chance to even ask me - between the tears I just kept saying yes over and over.
And he's been that way every since - very romantic and does tries to do things when I least expect it.
