:lmao: Actually, Andrew's experience was funny. Darren's problem was due to his bad hip, he was in pain the rest of the day:guilty:

I planned this special weekend trip back in August to celebrate Darren's 40th birthday. A resort in Hot Springs VA called The Homestead that had many outdoor activities (though it is mostly known for its golf). Darren did love the skeet shooting. It was our first time skeet shooting, but he was so good I actually cheered when he finally missed:rolleyes:

I hadn't been horseback riding since I was about 16 or so (many many moons ago:laughing: ) and this was the first time for the rest of the gang. Kelly did really well, Darren didn't do badly either, but Andrew's horse had a mind of its own:headache: We were in a group riding in single file through the trails and his horse just wanted to walk slow and wanted to eat and even left the trail at one point:scared1: . I felt so bad for Andrew:rolleyes: Finally, the guide went and grab Andrew's horse, lead him to the front of the line and made sure he behaved through the trip. Andrew was a good sport about the whole thing, he kept saying "it's not my fault, I'm innocent" Reminded me of someone, but I can't remember who:rolleyes1

If the guys ever want to do something on their own on Cabo or Aruba, you should think about a mother-daughter ride with Kelly. Some friends of mine were just in Hawaii and did that (what is it with guys not liking horseback riding nowadays? weren't all the cowboys in fact BOYS???):rotfl2:

I just got the message that the 11:00 is fully booked:sad2: The next one available would be 1:00:confused3 At least we will overlap a bit:) maybe:rolleyes:

Thanks for the timeline, I don't mind waiting an hour for them to finish:)

Definitely:thumbsup2
I heard from Enna and she's going to be an observer at 1:00 also. We'll have a DIS party:dance3:

BTW, I just checked what DCL is charging for this tour:eek:
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you:worship: :worship: :worship:

I know what you mean about the cost . . . I generally don't do DCL excursions for that reason. I'm glad you will have Enna with you as an observer for the 1 PM time . . .:goodvibes

Well, DS8 has won and DH has agreed to do the zip line! I will be an non-participant! I have sent in the request for the 1PM time - we'll see if it is still available... I did sent them an email yesterday asking about what happens if the ship doesn't make it to PV - they replied that they would give us a refund in that case.

If we get the 1PM time, I will be joining you as an observer - I bet we can have a good time without hanging from a wire!

Thanks all for the Birthday wishes!

I have not been on the site since the night I put up my Christmas tree (I have been on a couple of chats though).. so that has been about a month. And so much has happened since then... I will summarize a couple of the comings and goings here.... for those that missed them on Friday's chat.

You may recall I got a great friends & family discount a couple of months ago on the new Sharp Aquos LCD TVs ($1000 for the 42 inch). Was waiting for Verizon FIOS to get the real HDTV... which passed in my village on Dec 15! But I had to wait for it to get approved by folks in Albany.

Christmas was great fun. Got the DDs a Wii (we bought it in August thinking it may be a "HOT" gift - we were right).

FIOS got installed on the Friday after Xmas. All was great in the Silmarg household. Awaiting the Giants / New England game in HD the next night (I am not a Giants nor NE fan, but this was a BIG game).

Saturday was supposed to go to my DisBro's house, but he had the stomach flu. So instead had the DD bring a friend over to play the Wii. And just like the TV commercial, said friend - when playing Bowling on the Wii - struck not only the pins but my Sharp LCD with the remote. :scared1: Cracked glass... not economical to fix. The parents of said child offered to replace, we declined. Alas, I could not watch the Giant / New England game in HD!

Then had to buy a replacement set, but could not find the same exact set for under $1350. And I refused to pay 35% more for the set, so I settled for a lesser Panasonic Plasma for $999. Oy I am still rethinking that descision!

I was in a big funk until the next night, when we took the kids to see Hannah Montana (we suprised them)... (come to think of it I coulda scalped those tix and payed for the $1350 Sharp). The concert was great fun.

Then reality set in. Back to work on Jan 2. And I worked every day (incl Sat & Sun) until my birthday (Jan 10) from 9am to midnight. (I am barely recovered from that fiasco).

Kids threw me a birthday party on the 10th - which was great fun. Then the wife suprised me yesterday with another party. I was stunned.

Anyway as far as TOAL goes, I still have not booked airfare... will likely book return flights soon. I am holding out for Virgin America for the flights to LAX and they have not published fares for August yet.

I hope everyone had a pleasant holiday.

Regards,
Sil

Can you say Brokeback Mt.

Sorry if I missed anything fun, special or important today. Computer issues...will check back tomorrow.

My DS is about the same age. It will be good for my kids to know that other kids will be hanging from a wire with them!

I will keep my feet on the ground thankyouverymuch.

Sil!! What a way to break in the new TV:sad2: :sad2:
I think I would have been in tears. That is horrible.

Attention
Puerto Vallarta
Zipline Pirates

Just got an email that the 11am trip is FULL as well as the 12pm tour. There are other folks on the boat that booked awhile ago. So, Plan B I told them that the 1pm tour would be OK. Is that acceptable to the rest of you pirates?

Sounds good to us!

Here's my question: Do they charge your card at time of booking or when you get there? :confused3

As long as we have all started the serious planning, is there any thought yet as to how we are all going to link dining? I know that Waaaay back Lisa had said she would be doing it for everyone, but she hasn't been around in ages and I think she was one of those who left the thread :sad1:

I definitely want to link with fellow DISers for dining - I know that we have at least ONE thing in common and we have had a blast with our previous 3 cruises when we have dined with DIS folks. (The friends we made on our first cruise are still very close - they also happen to live nearby - we are going to their DCL house party in a couple weeks!)

We could just do it ad-hoc where we all try to PM each other and make up tables that way. If we do it that way, it might help if Tom could put a list of those who want to find table mates on the website or something. I wish I could volunteer to try and organize it, but I know that I am already over-volunteered and it wouldn't be fair to try and take on something this size. (I suspect that PTO, Garden Club, the classroom party, choir, etc would suffer since DIS stuff is more fun! ;) ) It would be really cool if all of us in the same dining time (Captain's Dining and Late/Traitors/Swabbie Dining) could be on the same rotation so we would be in the same dining room together and on similar schedules. Is that something we can request from DCL?

Anyway, I thought I would throw this out here and see if this is something that is already being thought about or if there are any great, new ideas.

For those of you interested in horseback riding but concerned with either DCL's cost or their age requirement, I know that Jo (ga9497) found one in Aruba. Since I am already booked for Jolly Pirates there, I wanted to see if I could do it elsewhere and leave that day just for snorkeling. This is what I found for Cabo:

http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Horseback-Riding.htm

I booked the private 2 hour ride for me and my girls, but there are lots of opportunities, and from my research it appears that the Red Rose ranch is an easy taxi ride from the port.

Also, since you only do either 1 or 2 hours, it should still be easy to spend time on the beach near the ship.

Hey Julie,
DD Lori - DGS Matt & I were also thinking about hroseback riding in Cabo while DH Paul plays golf. What time did you book?? Perhaps we could ride together????

For anyone interested, here is a link to some of my vacation pictures.

I divided them into albums to make it easier to know where we were.:flower3:

Oh Paula -
I was in Costa Rica a few years ago and Fell In Love w/the country & peope. I will definately be going back - in fact my girlfriend & I are considering going for a one month language immersion program (an adult program that includes side trips).
Happy you had a great time - looking at you pics brings back such fond memories!!

We booked a private ride, so no one will go except me and the girls and a guide (sorry! but when we did a similar thing at WDW some of the people couldn't handle the horses and it slowed everyone down, so we went with this one). There are lots of group rides, though, and you could also book private 1 or 2 hour rides.

I would love to ride with you and Matt,    but I already promised the girls we would do this one on our own . . .

Maybe one of our group who is also a TA (there are a few!) would know how to do it????
