I tried to call Disney to see what they said about the passport regulations, but that was a waste of time. They were not aware of the extension of the need for a passport for land and sea travelers until 2009, so I guess I will have to check with the State Dept. or my travel agent.

It is my understanding that since the boat goes to Cartagena, you need a passport, even if you don't get off the boat.

if your going to disneyland before the cruise i found a tour company that will pick you up at your anaheim hotel and bring you to universal,LA,seaworld, etc.
its allanaheimtours.com

Almost all the hotels have pick up spots for these type of tours. They will even sell you the tickets. Not sure if it's all the same tour company or not.

The wine country is north of San Fransico.. so not a days drive from LA. I am going to call some of the wineries in CA and see if they will deliver a case. I don't do the wine package as I would rather spend the money on a good bottle of wine. Like all restuarants they mark up the cost and it will be cheaper or the same to buy direct from the winery.

I'll check and let you know..

There is actually a growing wine region in Santa Barbara that is only about a 1 1/2-2 hour drive from Anaheim. One of which is the Fess Parker Winery. Fess portrayed Davy Crocket in the Disney movie and even has a window above the mercantile in Frontierland. Haven't been to the winery but I have tried a few of the wines and they are quite good.

As for shipping wines, most, if not all, wineries will ship a case. It's just a matter of where, home, port or hotel?

Well, I saved about $1000 today. I do timesharing and have had an "ongoing search" for the timeshare at DL (off property, not DVC) since I booked this cruise and I really never thought it would come through. Well, I just opened yesterday's mail and a confirmation of exchange was there. I also still have a HoJo's ressie, DL view, from 9th to the 17th at $89/night or something cheap like that. If anyone was interested, I will check and see if I can transfer the ressie to your name. I love the idea of staying where a large group of us are staying, but it really is alot of $$$$ saved and I like the idea of having the full kitchen. It will only be $169 out of pocket for the week since my timeshare dues were paid for last year :woohoo: .

Soooooooooooo is it time for apirate: run? I'm redy

BTW Tom Sara did not tell me we were close to a run

It's the classic case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing. We've had passports since 2003 when we decided on a quick trip to DL. I didn't want any hassles at customs/airport especially when we were travelling with the kids. It's much better to just spend the money and get the document than to be really sorry you didn't in the case of emergency or something. Especially when there is so much confusion over whether they are required or not and the security requirements can change at a moments notice.

That said we need to renew ours in the next couple of weeks to the tune of about $300 - we can't board a plane without one.

I forgot that Safeway = Vons. In northern CA its Safeway, in southern CA its Vons. Up north I have gotten deliveries from Safeway with no problem. You pick your delivery time and they show up with your items, as long as they were available in the local store that prepared the order. You have the option while ordering to select a back up if your item is not in stock. And you get their sale prices and shopper's club prices automatically by ordering online, you don't need their club card. If you do a Google search, you can usually find free delivery codes.

The drivers have always been professional and they are not allowed to accept tips.

Ok ladies a question for you...

How the heck are we going to pack for this trip!?

Are we bringing 2 different outfits for semi nite,2 for formal (plus shoes...would that be 2-4 pairs) plus since no shorts in the dining room we need nice outfits for dinner plus our ooutfits for when we leave the ship (onboard I spend my days in my bathing suit..so not too worried)

I know we arrggghh not terribly close but I am already thinking...

Opinions?!

Here's what I did this summer. I had my 2 formal dresses with 1 pair of shoes that went with both. I did not bring a semi-formal, but my black dress did doulbe duty. I had 2 other casual dresses with a sort of high heeled, jeweled flip flop. I had 3 skirts and about 10 tank tops that I mixed and matched. Also had 2 (or maybe 3 capris) and a couple of nice short sleeved shirts. And a couple of light weight sweaters that could be worn over just about anything I had. I had 1 pair of Crocs, 3 various colored flip flops, 1 pair of what I call Cinderella shoes (sort of like what Tina posted a few days ago) and 1 pair of sneakers. Oh and a few tshirts and sweats for working out.

I did laundry 3 times, but that was because I had spent 5 days in Paris before boarding the ship.

You could try any of these options:

1) Toga... Toga.... Toga... Toga....

2) Omar

3) We ban comments regarding repeated outfits

My plan is to take as little as possible - two little black dresses with shoes to match both and then a formal for formal night. For other nights mostly capri pants and shorts for hanging out in. I am going to try to prove DH wrong - he swears with the 4 of us we will have 10 bags - I say maybe 6 plus a garment bag. We will see but I am determined, we have to lug it to the airport and then again at LAX and then again to the port - I really don't want to lug all of it around. I will have to do laundry once we get on the ship. We are arriving in LA on the 13th so we will have 5 days worth of laundry by the time we get onto the ship. I figure if I do some laundry around the 1st or
2nd day the laundry room might not be so bad.

On both our 7 day cruises, we totally overpacked. I will not overpack this time, I will not overpack this time, I will not overpack this time...............:rotfl:

I was thinking the same thing. DH has limited us to 2 bags plus carry ons. :scared: I already have one dress for the formal nights and dress slacks and dressy blouses for semi formal nights. I may just change accessories and wear the same dress, slacks and shoes. They are all black. Do you think this will work?:confused3

Of course I do get an extra bag for the return. I am thinking about putting water and/or pop in it. It is a fold up duffel for our trinkets.

I think I will have to do some creative packing...and lots of laundry onboard.:rotfl2:

Just keep in mind that many of us will also be spending several days at DL prior to the cruise. This happened on the Med repo since many of us spent a few days somewhere in Europe. The laundry rooms were crowded the first few nights.

We are in DL for a week prior so I know laundry is a must! Now for the gym do I need gym sneakers or will keds work? I don't want to bring a bunch of shoes...thanks for your thoughts...repetition is ok..I just have to believe it!

How about doing laundry before leaving the hotel?

We'll be there for a week before the cruise. I'm planning to do laundry on Friday or Saturday night after the parks close.

As far as packing.:sad2:

Oh boy, I've been wondering about the packing too:confused:
I figure neutral colored shorts/pants/skirts for everyone that can be worn be many different tops (not sure of total number-but assuming I'll wear each at least 2-3 times:confused3 ). 1, maybe 2, formal dresses with one pair of neutral shoes. A little black dress for semi-formal night and a black sweater and white sweater (since I'm always cold;) -will probably wear it at least twice). I need sneakers for excursions. At least 2 bathing suites. Of course we'll need to do laundrey. I'm bringing a collapsable laundrey hamper, detergent and a tide pen. Assuming I'll be buying at least 2 t-shirts for each of us while on the cruise, plus other souveniers, maybe I'll buy an extra tote bag in port:confused3
I'm hoping that changing out of dinner clothes quickly will save us on laundry (but that only works if I manage not drip anything on myself:rolleyes1 ).
