Good morning everyone! Just stopping in for a moment before heading off to the museum (Science & Industry - Chicago) for the day. Our tickets to the Star Wars exhibit aren't until 5pm, so we will be home pretty late and I am sure I'll be wiped out. Museums with DS8 are exhausting - he wants to see everything and read every plaque.

Sorry I didn't make it back to chat last night - I was chatting with Cheryl on the phone and by the time we stopped it was waaayyy past my bedtime! She is so much fun  to talk to!

I hope everyone has a great day and gets all those holiday preparations finished

Pamela (pdarrah)

Pamela,

We saw this exhibit when it was in LA a months back. I'm sure you'll enjoy it - except that the crowds may be substantial. We had been warned of 2-3 hour lines to get in initially, however, if you can go in the off peak hours then you'll fare better. I went on my own after we initially went - and it was much better without the crowds. AND... I do see you had tickets timed for 5PM. May i suggest you bring a book - or scope out the line layout and have ONE person wait in line while the rest of the family wanders near by then rejoin the line just before it becomes inconvenient to do so. AND pack a good book / snack for the wait in the line.

Heres' an image I dredged off the web...

A week ago, I might have been tempted.....:rotfl:
Right now, it's so cold, I feel like standing in front of the oven with the door open. Yes, it DOES get cold in Arizona.

This might seem warm to some - but right now at 10-:37AM it's 56.6 degrees here in Ventura County. It's forecast to go up to 64 then down to 45. I've got the heat set to 69 inside and I'm still chilled - even with sweat pants and a jacket on!

I know... my spouse (who grew up outside of Pittsburg, PA) would consider
45 degrees to be T-shirt and shorts weather. Which pretty much makes me a whimpy Southern Californian when it comes to the cool weather, that is.

Hey everyone ! So, what does radioclash do with a few spare minutes the week-end before Christmas? Ketchup on the EBPC thread of course !

In a moment of weakness yesterday (after a two martini lunch with my boss) I stopped in Williams Sonoma and bought a box of choclate covered carmels sprinkled with sea salt. The bad news is I shared some with my boys. I keep trying to tell them their tastes aren't refined enough to really enjoy these. They're not buying it.

That's about the same as it's been here. We had a hard frost the last few nights. Jay's worried about his citrus trees, since between my disabilities and his accident, we haven't gotten them covered yet. I think we're going to have DS do them this afternoon.

It is a good thing that it is quiet here today - DS8 is the king of LATE ideas for Christmas gifts. He decided 2 days ago that he wanted to make notecards for his Grandmothers. We did this a couple years ago, and basically he does a few paintings and then I scan them into the computer and print them onto Avery Notecard paper. He finished the last of his 3 paintings last night, so here I am trying to get them all printed today. The office Ink Jet has better color than my home machine, so I wanted to do them here. Only problem is that one Grandma (my mom) works here to! Fortunately, my father took her out to lunch so I can get these done without her seeing them :thumbsup2

For those interested in 8 year old art, here are the masterpieces. The first is pretty straight-forward, the 2nd is a Jackson Pollock tribute and I have NO idea what's up with the 3rd!

Pamela (Pdarrah)

Those are awasome.

This morning, while missing the pirate: run (!), I saw the movie of "Sweeney Todd" . . . I had to consciously avoid comparisons to the brilliant B'way production put on recently, but on its own terms it is an amazing movie -- certainly it is not going to be to everyone's taste, but Tim Burton has an unparalleled artistic vision and this movie might show it off to the ultimate level. It's going to be too bloody for some, too much of a musical for others, and certainly Johnny shows he has no ego as a "leading man" to take on this role, but what an actor he is.

Monica, I will be interested in your thoughts when you see it . . . Cheryl, you too!

Glad to hear you enjoyed this movie. I love Tim Burton movies. I'm always amazed by his artistic interpretation. He has a great ability to completely immerse you in another world.

I wasn't sure I was going to see this movie, but the trailers keep inching me closer.

Roger, that sounds like a lot of fun. I know Mark really enjoyed it. :goodvibes

I sure hope sometime soon I get to finally chat again. I've got to finish wrapping some presents and make some cookies. Everyone have a nice evening.:)

Paula maybe you could stick your head in while the cookies are in the oven.

Are you suggesting she stick her head in the oven?

Now I understand your comment in Chat. I was lost about the oven. :confused3

Alan said you all are picking on me:rotfl:

Paula,

... Please remember I'm NOT to be confused with COUNSELOR Tom or the oven remarks. I am otherwise just another Swabbie confessing my INNOCENCE .... uhh... how much time do I have left?

Just wanted to post a quick apology to my Secret Santa. I didn't follow Tom's orders and get the package in the mail yesterday or today. Hopefully, you will get it on Wed. or Thursday. I hereby promise to get it in the post on Monday.:goodvibes

"Here comes some more of that white stuff Mom!"

P1010467.jpg

Debi, it has been in the 50's and 60's here, very unseasonable for this time of year. No white stuff for us this year either. Our luck it will come when we are on vacation in January and no one will have access to our plow and will have to pay to get the stores parking lots plowed. You all be careful.:)

Tom, I guess in this instance you really can claim innocence. But I wasn't in chat--no telling what you said in there:rotfl: :rotfl:

OK, I've about had it with this mall traffic.

I had to drop Hazel off at Friendly's at 4pm. We left the house at 3:30 for the 10 minute ride, it's a good thing we did, because I was dropping Hazel off out front of Friendly's at exactly 4pm. The traffic is absolutely horrible around the mall area. I'm hoping it empties out a little before I have to go back to pick up Angelina from work. A few ladies, from our church, that Hazel was meeting didn't get to Friendly's until about 4:30. They were having ice cream, then going to deliver Christmas packages to some families.

Angelina was scheduled to work at Icing from 9-2, but at 11 the manager said she could leave because they had too many people on the floor and business was slower than they expected. Angelina went and got something to eat, then the poor kid went and sat in the backroom at B-a-B until her shift started there at 3pm. I asked why she didn't call for me to come get her(only 10 minutes away right, see message above), but she said she didn't feel like coming home for a couple of hours, and then have to go back out again. Good thinking there kiddo!!!

OK, I'm getting hungry, so I've got to go find something to eat. Luckily for me, one of the ladies that Hazel is with, is going to drop her off here at our house after they are finished delivering the packages.
