When Dh and I first got married, I wanted to celebrate some of the Jewish holidays as well as the Christian, so I asked my DH what his family did to celebrate Rosh Hashana. He shrugged his shoulders and said "Eat brisket":lmao: :lmao:

Needless to say his mother is quite annoyed with him:rolleyes:

I can relate to the brisket part of that. It was Brisket or roast beef. I have a great recipe if you ever need it.:lmao:

I have to share a picture of my grandaughter Genevieve from Thanksgiving!!! If anyone asks her name she answers" I am Princess Genevieve," even to Cinderella.:rotfl2: There is a Barbie Doll named Princess Genevieve. She wears a crown around the house everyday!!! She just turned 3 but sometimes she talks like 33.:rolleyes1

Cheryl, she is a Princess. I think Mickey looked better with all the snow around him. All we see around here is Decorations on the grass.Glad John didn't hurt him too much or wew would have to send the Disney Police after him.

Andy, loved the videos. We used to have some really decked out homes here but nothing like that.

Just a quick hello...I've decided to sit back and have a glass of wine before 40 of my closest (well ok..some of them are close..some of them tag-alongs!) friends and family arrive for a holiday party in 2 hours.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Not that anyone probably needs help but if anyone has any questions about the the Disneyland area..let me know..we live about 10 minutes from there and spend way to much time there!

Desiree

Gotta love those intimate get togethers.

Thanks for the offer. We were wondering since alot of us will be at the Hojo, what stores are within walking distance? Between the booze and the water we all hope to buy,:lmao: I was wondering how far everything is?

She's beautiful, Cheryl!!! She can easily pull off the princess thing!

She is darling Cheryl. A true princess. :thumbsup2

We are heading for DL in the morning for our annual Christmas trip (one day). I am looking forward to see the new snow on the castle and all of the decorations. We will dinning at Goofy's Kitchen and will try to get some new photos of the desserts for the next pirate run. Off to a cookie party.

Cookies made with nutmeg I suppose....................:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Good everning everyone! Hope everyone is warm and cozy. Last word was that we are in the 10"-15" snow belt! We haven't had that big of a snow storm since 1999. Guess I'll spend tomorrow digging out. Thankfully I have a small snow blower. A white Christmas for a change.

It will be a good day to bake cookies.

Well, I hope everyone had a better day than I did. We went to 2 canceled hockey practices - the first one at 6:30 this morning. The figure skating club's ice show was today, but no one bothered to tell the hockey club that we couldn't use the rink at our normal times, so we all showed up. Stupid figure skaters (oh, no wait...I'm slightly schitzo here). The glass was down, there were trees on both goal lines and garland strung on the boards...let's let a bunch of 4-8year-old hockey players loose!!!!

So I raked. I raked from 7 am (when we got home from the not-a-hockey-practice) until noon when I had to take DS to the first of 3 birthday parties today. And we still aren't done. 75 bags and counting. We still have big piles that need to be bagged. Stupid wooded lot.

Then I baked. Alot. I'm almost done baking. Then I make candy. I WILL be done tomorrow night if it kills me. Our tree has been sitting naked in the living room for a week now. How sad is that? We need to decorate tomorrow. Somewhere we have to fit that in between hockey x2, lacrosse x2 and the Browns game. And baking. And bagging.

Bah Humbug.

:confused3 Gosh Cheryl, where did she ever get the idea that she is a princess? :confused3

She is just too cute!

Check this out. Taken this afternoon.

At one point I signed up to research the Panama Canal for this cruise with the very best of intentions. I started off looking up a few things on the internet but wanted more. I bought "The Path Between Two Seas". I dutifully started reading. Then I found out I was going to have to train some people in how to program this specialized product we have that only a couple of us here know how to program.
I tried to pick it up again and it came upon our very busy time at work and I had to dig out the book from being buried on my desk to even type the title above. Needless to say - not much progress.
Tonight I am on my next attempt. I bought a good little book titled "Panama Canal By Cruise Ship". What I have read so far it is precise and gets to the point. I will try to post some wisdom on the PC the next couple of weeks. OR.... I wil make no progress and come back edit this post of any information regarding me and the PC. :lmao:

Didn't taste any with Nutmeg in them Andy. :confused3 Will have to do something about that next year. Here is the kids all decorating their cookies. Most of them were consumed soon after. :rotfl2:

Yeah, takes a while to bang that Academy training outta 'em. Over the years, I've gotten neater and he's gotten messier, but he still insists that everything on his desk is at right angles.

Unfortunately, both the kids take after me!

I think DH has made more porgress then, his desk is curved, and everything is at a slanted angle. Of course, it's hard to have everything at a right angle when the desk is curved... :rotfl2:

That sounds like fun. The experience just seems so much more authentic if you aren't in a group of 50 other perople from the cruise ship.

We are actually kicking around the idea of chartering a boat/captain in the Caribbean for our 2009 vacation - go wherever we want to for a week or so. We just need to find a few friends to come along.

Amen. Now, THAT would be fun. I expect you'll find all sorts of new friends between now and then.

Say, is your DH up to teaching my boys how to use a sextant?

Nope, no tux rentals. None at all. Right Esteri?

OK, I'm sure there are tux rentals, but DH doesn't have to know that - it's part of Operation Uniform Arm Candy that Esteri and I have going on.

Absolutely no tux rentals are available to any member of the armed forces. Nope. Nada. None. :rolleyes1

Check this out. Taken this afternoon.

Notice he's laying on a couch? Notice the blinds in the background? Notice the (undecorated) tree?
DS came home today.

WOO HOO!!!!

Oh my, you're going to be popular in about about 5 months!!

If we'd had a daughter she would have been named Genevieve. I'm glad the name hasn't completely died. It's so beautiful. Especially the French pronounciation.

She's as lovely has her name. :)

Now that's the holiday spirit!! You sound like my dad when Christmas falls on a Sunday. Four church services in 24 hours. Forget the presents - he was DONE!! Course, growing up as preacher's kid - Christmas was a working holiday, and it was mostly about keeping the parents sane. :confused3

You on the other hand should probably consider simply cranking back a bit. You ever thought about a leaf blower? It'd make short work of all those bags. You might be able to rent one at your local rental place.

Unless, of course, you were just looking to vent, and didn't want solutions - in which case. Oh, golly M, that's so much to do. You hang in there, you hear? You'll get through this really busy time just fine.

THREE birthday parties? How come the mom's didn't get together and have one giant one??

Hey lil'grump, I said I would post these when I got my computer back, so here ya go:

Hey M, why are you posting pictures of the Air Force Academy Chapel??

The shower is a pretty dangerous place, too.

This sentence reminds me of a story, I was working away from home last January and I had a voice message from my FIL saying that Robert had been injured and was in hospital. I was really concerned as I knew he was going out for a bike ride that day and assumed he'd come off his bike.

Anyway, once I made contact it turned out that he'd survived the bike ride unscathed and upon returning home, had a shower. As he was getting dried, he somehow, with his towel, knocked a pot plant off the windowsill. As it fell, it landed on his foot and broke. It severed the tendon in his foot (his little toe to be precise).

He was off work for 4 weeks as at the time he was a Librarian so most of the day was on his feet. The foot injury was not half as bad as the boredom that followed with not being able to go to work

So, showers and bathrooms can be dangerous places so maybe Trevoy should wear that helmet 24/7 :rotfl2:

:surfweb:

GM pirate:

Presently 74 going up to 69 yeap we have a cold front coming in today lots of rain this morning and we have a tornado watch.. suppose to wake up tomorrow to about 41 ..

:grouphug: :hug:pixiedust: and prayers to all who is going to need it today

:welcome: aboard to all the newbies

Have a great Sunday

Monica, so glad your son is home, have a wonderful Xmas.

Went to a Xmas party at SIL's there are six Music teachers in the family, (one opera singer) so lots of music and sing-a-longs. Drove my DW's parents (89 & 87)

We are getting lots of rain today, so it looks like we will get no snow

That's the spirit!

Beats the other option - standing on a bridge waiting for Clarence.

Oh, DH would NEVER put up with a curved desk.
One time I went into his office at work and reversed everything on his desk like a mirror image of they way he had it. He FREAKED out!
He also still lines up his socks in the drawer. I call it alphabetizing his socks.

Amen. Now, THAT would be fun. I expect you'll find all sorts of new friends between now and then.

Well we aren't going to PAY for our friends to go...we want to split the cost of the boat/captain! It's really a matter of figuring out who to ask to come with us. Some of our friends don't sail. Ummm, one will never get on a sailboat with us again! Some have kids who are too young for a trip like that. Anyway, it's a thought right now, but I'm not going to do much research on it until after TOAL.

From what I know already, we should be able to do it for 1/4-1/3 the price of TOAL. We're trying to be vacation frugal in 2009, because out 2010 trip is to the Winter Olympics which I'm sure will rival TOAL in terms of cost.

Say, is your DH up to teaching my boys how to use a sextant?

I asked him about that a while back. He said he would need to review it, but he thought he could figure it out again. I'll work on him this summer. I think it would be cool to teach the kids. We've only done coastal sailing on our own, so I can chart a course if I can see a point of land, but I never learned to use a sextant.

Absolutely no tux rentals are available to any member of the armed forces. Nope. Nada. None. :rolleyes1

Morgan and Kyra were our final decisions on girl names (we didn't know boy/girl until they were born), but I also really like Genevieve.

:confused3

Gosh I sense sarcasm in the hug! We have a leaf blower. I did blow as well as rake. The most time consuming part is that we have to bag the leaves. We really have an insane amount of leaves. Half acre lot covered in giant oaks. I wasn't really looking for sympathy. I was just in the mood to vent.

2 third grade parties, 1 second grade party. I don't think people talk to eachother at all around here.

Hey M, why are you posting pictures of the Air Force Academy Chapel??

Because lil'grumpy posted one of the outside a while back and I said I had a nice one of the inside from our visit last summer & I would post it when I got my computer back. That's why.

This sentence reminds me of a story, I was working away from home last January and I had a voice message from my FIL saying that Robert had been injured and was in hospital. I was really concerned as I knew he was going out for a bike ride that day and assumed he'd come off his bike.

Yikes!!

Reminds me of my yahoo DS chipping his 2 front teeth at hockey camp... while playing tag in the field next to the rink!
I told him that he needs to wear his mouth guard at all times!
