And wasn't it the great Willy Wonka who said, "A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men." ?

Great picture Debi. That has to be your Mom next to Kevin!

I'm sure you must have posted it before, but I missed that you got married on Castaway Cay. How cool was that!

It was awesome and Magical ! Just saw saw your wedding photo awww.

Hi Everyone!

Once again I am way behind and am going to have to try and ketchup. We had a wonderful time at WDW last weekend - all except for DS and I being knocked down by a kid in the Magic Kingdom  On Friday night, right before 10pm and the 2nd Spectro parade, we were walking down Main Street USA toward the exit looking for a good spot to stop and watch. It was pretty chilly so the crowd wasn't too bad and most of the route was only 1-person deep. We were trying to get as close to the exit as possible and then just stand behind someone sitting on the curb. Suddenly a young teen (probably 12-15ish) was RUNNING through the crowd and cut right in front of me. He was so close that he actually stepped on my foot. Since I was walking when I was suddenly stepped on, I pitched straight forward. I was holding DS8's hand and he was slightly behind me, so I was trying to hold him upright with that hand as I fell. We both ended up on the ground with cuts, scrapes and bruises. Once we somewhat recovered, I was grateful that was all that was injured and very glad it hadn't happened to someone older who might have broken bones. Little did I know that this fall would come back to haunt me the middle of this week! On Wednesday I woke up with my neck and shoulders in major pain which was causing a huge headache. I went to see my chiropractor and as soon as he started examining my neck he asked if I had been in an accident - it seems that I have whiplash! I guess the delay of 4 days before the pain hit is fairly normal... At least I got to enjoy the rest of my weekend at WDW. We spent Saturday at Epcot and Sunday at AK until we had to leave for the airport and other than some of the bruises and scrapes, DS and I felt fine and had a great time!

My Mondays are always crazy and Tuesday had a PTO meeting (which is pretty mandatory now that I am being a co-president). I had planned to get back online and ketchup here on Wednesday, but instead I spent that day in pain and very, very nauseous (I didn't even know that was part of whiplash until this happened). This is the first time of been able to post or read since we left back on the 7th so I am really far behind now!

My neck is still stiff, so I can only spend a short time at the computer before it starts bothering me. Hopefully, I can read a little bit at a time and still -ketchup - but the post count seems pretty high - there must have been a big pirate run for the 80000 post! :thumbsup2

Pamela (pdarrah)

I like wine!

That's awful ! Hope your feeling better soon.:flower3:

O.k I missed Chrissie posting her dress !! How come this wasn't in the newsletter? Please don't torture me with going back through a 1000 posts to find it. I really wan't to see it ! Does somebody know where this post is?

Holy Cow!!! 1 day - 40 pages of posts.

What? Did everyone come back from vacation at once?

OK, I'm gonna go ketchup now.

:rotfl2: Good luck seems that's all I do these days is trying to " Ketchup "

We've been going over finances :scared1: What do you think our chances would be of changing stateroom categories? We're in a 6 and I was thinking of trying to move down to save some bucks,or is that not an option?

No advice but sending PD your way.:wizard: Hope it works out for you.

Tom your mean! LOL

And Tom (I knew you would jump in with photos!) not one of those...Let me see if I can nab one!

Chrissie

Tina, I guessed 50 pages and there it was.:rotfl2:

Yesterday, for the memorial graveside service, my half-sister Paula had contacted a retired priest to conduct the service. This man should go into stand-up comedy now that he is retired, he had us cracking up with one zinger after another. I've never been to a funeral/memorial service before where I laughed so hard. If it hadn't been so chilly and windy yesterday, I wouldn't have minded if he had spoken longer.

I saw some of my relatives I hadn't seen since my grandfather's funeral nearly 20 years ago, and half the people there, I had no clue who they were........

 I know the feeling. When I wen't to my Grandfathers funeral last year I saw family that I haven't seen in too many years ! I am happy to say that we re-connected and have been in touch since that sad day.

I (with help of others) intend to create a "sign up" page on the website. Maybe not actually sign up for stuff there, but a one stop shop for all the key things people are doing (e.g. fish extender lists, etc.)

Idea is one page with links:

Fish Extender List
Bus from DL to Port
Group excursion in XXX port
etc.

and link will take you to info and contact person/page/info for it.

Probably after 1st of year will work on this in more detail.

Also, I am very, very, very, very, very open to suggestions on things like this.

Another Great idea ! :thumbsup2

Thank you to everyone for the kind thoughts on our fall at the MK last weekend. I am doing pretty well - my neck is a little stiff still, but as long as I stop every few hours and ice it, I'm pretty much able to do everything I normally do. For those who asked, YES - several people stopped to help us. The people we were immediately behind (they were sitting on the curb waiting for the parade) helped us up and one lady even went and got ice and napkins for us for some quick first-aid. They were very nice and even missed the very beginning of the parade helping us. At the end of the parade, one of them came back over to us (we just stayed put and recovered during the parade - it was a good distraction for DS8!) and gave DS a pin. It is one of the ones that the cast members give people with one to keep and one to pass on.

It looks like we are posting wedding pictures - here are 2 of ours. I may have posted one of these before. DH would NOT be pleased that I was posting one with him - he looks pretty funny with those huge glasses. But they were fairly fashionable back in the late 80's when we got married...

I think I mentioned before that my mother made my dress - she also did my hat (starting with a basic form and basically decorating it).

Pamela (pdarrah)

Pamela: You were a beautiful bride !

Hard to believe its been almost 10 months since we booked.........and only 9+ months left..........second half is always the hardest to get through!!!!

Time seems to be flying by fast for me. I will think it's funny when we are down to 2 weeks and everyone isn't ready yet.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I mean I am already packed...............just kidding.

Bad News: It's Monday

Good News: It's a short week.

Thanks to everyone for the holiday smilies. I just simply do not have any more room in my signature. When I had the Halloween Mickey last month, I was getting cut off at the bottom so I already know nothing else will fit. Maybe someday I'll be willing to get rid of Captain Jack but I doubt it.

Thats right , Youll always remember the day that you would never get rid of Captain Jack Sparrow ....LOL not that it made much sense , but I am sure you know what I am trying to say ...LOL

Can't seem to lay my hands on our wedding pictures right now to scan and post. Asked DH if he knew where the wedding picture were and he asked - "Dunno. Were we ever wed?" I'll post them when they turn up. :confused3

BUT - this did remind me that I never posted any pictures from our August WDW vacation. So here are a few from that...

The family (Issac (DS6), George (DH), me, and Jakob (DS10)), one guess where... ;)

I must be in a picture posting mood...

Here are a couple of well turned out lads (school pictures)...

Careful, this one has dimples - and he's not afraid to use them!!

And this one can out argue an attorney!

Great pics !:thumbsup2 Like those dimples, boy watch out for the girls as he gets older.

Diane: I am never on the computer we you are.:sad1: Miss ya

Hey has anyone heard from the other Tina?:confused3 Haven't seen her post in awhile, hope all is well.

Cheryl: Phone call before Thanksgiving ! What are your plans this year? I am heading to sleep soon. I am almost caught up .........

[/IMG]
Thanks Tom but I believe the saying goes.........well if Mom is still sick, she still has to do everything. I had another setback.:sad2: I had a 1/2 inch inside stitch pop through and started bleeding at site. I am being assured everything is fine but am feeling sick to my stomach. They cleaned me up today and put me on a bland diet. Brooke is doing quite well.

Tina....hope these bring a smile to you. I sure hope you start feeling better.

Congrats Tom on becoming an Uncle. Have a nice trip!!! This is for your new nephew!!!

Not only is it Monday, but just went outside to pick up my morning paper, and it's cold and rainy as well here................:guilty: :guilty: :guilty:
I am NOT missing NY. I heard they got snow already.

Good Morning All

Very cold here today, but then I heard it is supposed to be 60 by Thanksgiving - I bet that will make the Black Friday shoppers happy. Does anyone do the Black Friday thing around here? I usually do, but not this year. I think that there are going to be some killer sales the closer we get to Christmas this year. I don't know about other parts of the country, but around here the economy is really choking. I know several people that have taken their house off the market since summer because they just can't afford to move if their house sells at waht the market will allow. What a difference a year makes.

See we had a pirate run this weekend - Congrats Mike.

Thanks for the festive smilies Tom, Diane, Cheryl & Chrissie. I love them!!!!

Tom, thanks for the newsletter. I appreciate the hard work that must go into putting it together each month :)

Diane - you said it perfectly  . This has turned out to be a great group of people and even if you can't post much, jump on in when you can. On my last cruise, some of the nicest people I met hadn't posted much on our thread at all, but once we were on the cruise I got to know them better than some of the regular posters. Sometimes it just works out that way.

I have plans to send Chuck this year but shhh I haven't told him yet !
Great words Diane !:thumbsup2

Spent the weekend in Palm Desert at the DILs. Weather was great upper 80's. Went biking, fishing and swimming. Pictures from my new camera

This was the last day that I shaved in 18yrs.

Love the dress !!:thumbsup2
o.k great pics.........what new camera did you use? I was thinking of getting the Luminex?

I still have some of the incision that hasn't closed yet...and since we're about 30 days out from our cruise I've started to worry about going on the beach, getting in the ocean....and what shoes to wear to dinner! The one that hasn't closed is on the side of my foot. The one on my calf closed nicely a long time ago.
Still going to therapy 3x a week...and doing well. Need to build back my calf muscles, they atrophied. I kind of like it this way, makes my leg skinnier. :lmao: But my therapist says "Muscles are our friends" so we must build them back up again. My endurance is pretty low, can't walk too far for too long. But at least I'm walking, and I am soooooo grateful for that!!

Thanks for asking!

Oh I can relate ! Wish I was going on a cruise. Hope your feeking much better soon, it would be ashame not for you to be able to enjoy your cruise.:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Tina, I guessed 50 pages and there it was.:rotfl2:

Now you should play the lottery ! Thanks for finding it for me. Just saw your PM.

It is a BEAUTIFUL dress !:thumbsup2
Hey Chrissie have you set a date for wedding yet? Disney cruise is the perfect place !!

On that note off to sleep............guess it's more ketchup for tomorrow. Hey west coasters keep it quiet tonight o.k?:rotfl2:

Do you suppose that this "I might even be lucky enough to call some of the people real friends after the cruise" includes the shifty ones who are constantly droning about thier claims of "innocence" or those who spontaneously chant "TAKE WHAT YA CAN" for no apparent reason regularly...

Give Nothing Back

Wow, no one else caught that? You pirates are slipping. Better watch out or you'll be walking the plank.

Thats right , Youll always remember the day that you would never get rid of Captain Jack Sparrow ....LOL not that it made much sense , but I am sure you know what I am trying to say ...LOL

pirate:

You forgot to insert a big splash in the middle of that comment :rotfl:

Yes we were on the 4 day wonder and Disney did the cake on the ship. We had a choice of different fillings and we chose a strawberry mouse. Reception was during the day so when we had our private dinner that night we sen't cake for waiters and to other diser's sitting at a nearby table to enjoy.:thumbsup2

Tina...

... I'm very sorry to hear of these dificulties. I'd like to offer that we can be thankful it's not more serious, eh? And I can see the hour approaching when these things will come under control. I really try hard to be a bit of the optimist. Having been through some personal difficulties, some serious injuries and lived through some unhappiness (who hasn't, eh?) I remember waking up one day and essentially been free of the complications of the times. Plus we have more than our fair share of local friends, neighbors and relatives facing their personal challenges. SO - adversity in varing degrees is surrounding us at times. Yeah... such is life. And again I say.... in my most dramatic yet optimistic tone - "we should be thankful things are not worse... please try to cheer up a bit"....

Even now - I think some used to say I was burnt out a bit - or looked tired. Yeah ... maybe I am upbeat and cheerful on the surface - but I've been bruised and beat up before on the inside (and outside). I still remember those days.

Maybe I'm being a little cryptic - and no - it's not a mysterious flight of drible - it's just my way of emulating Lil-Grumpy with his professional poetry. Right now I've developed a little muscle cramp from having tried to run a soccer scrimmage last friday with the 6 year olds while particiapting as a player - and the muscle cramps are coming from the strain I sufferred from playing with my YOUNGER daughter being carried on MY SHOULDERS while I participated with the scrimmaged. When I pulled my muscle I had to put down the little one off my shoulders - and I just sort of stood there hunched over for a few minutes while the pull and cramp like sensation faded. A few minutes later Alicia arrived to take over - and I retired to the side lines to watch and limp around a bit.

Add to this - the next day I was serving as the referee - and a patch of mud had my feet slipping as if I were on ice... and I sort of did a very public "split" and fall onto my "tail". It was all very public and an obvious audible "SIGH" chorused from both side lines. The nearer gathering of parents called out if I were OK... and I naturally picked upself up and said I was fine. Well... that was only HALF the truth. At any rate - over the next few minutes I engaged in casual remarks with the opposing teams' parents - as they offerred comments on my fall - while I reminded them of my need for new glasses .. as well as some other nominally pithy (but friendly) remarks. At the end of the game a couple of parents paused to tell me I had been the funniest referee they had had all season. I thanked them - then retired to silently consider what the true meaning was of THAT compliment.

So anyway - I have to go PACK now. Yeah... 11:45PM and I figure NOW is as good a time as any to start packing. < chuckles > seriously, I'm already packed somewhat as I have a pile of stuff that is to just drop into a travel bag. We're not planning on doing anything fancy on this trip - just dinner at the house and T-day dinner is being ordered out. My BIL did not want Alicia cooking at his home on our "vacation". That's OK by me as it allows Alicia about 2-3 hours of fredom and it sounds as if my BIL has some sort of plan in mind. To that I'm not surprised.

OK... I better go fill my bag up - take a glance at what I'm packing - and hit the sack. I think we're drivng off at 5:30AM or so - and I am usually definately asleep at that hour - so now that's gonna be a little disruptive to my routine. OK... got the DVD player batteries charging - got all my chargers lined up - I'm dutifully finishing some cup cakes (shuuuu..... Alicias' not lookin' so I gotta hurry up with this little snack)....

With this I bid every DIS neighbor gathered or passing through a wonderful Thanksgiving - good cheer to your gatherings of friends and family - and safe travels to those risking neck and limb shopping on BLACK Friday... I fear Alicia will venture forth with or without me ... as I will probably stay back to care for the 3 kids gathered. I hope to gain limited access to the web while away - but ya never know with these things. SO I might not be lurking in the days to come - or I MIGHT be lurking awaiting the perfect moment to pounce in ambush... <roar!> .... oh... that reminds me. The dentist told me at my check up the other day that my "Jaw" pain came from strained jaw muscles. He asked if I had injured myself chewing anything hard.... to which I said "no". Then he followed by asking if I had been playing with the kids and "ROARING"... to which I said "yes".... and he warned that he has had parents engage in active play with thekids and a few had pulled jaw muscles "roaring" at the kids! My mouth went mildly dry at that admonishment.

With that I bid everyone a temporary farewell... again. < wink >

:goodvibes

edited in... ... I'm all packed now... only took me maybe 15 minutes ... SO... I took 30 minutes to make something special for a DIS neighbor who had requested it. Tink will Tank You! I was not sleepy even though I should turn in ... so I took a little time to make it.

Have a great Tuesday

How are the knees doing Andy???:confused3 What a difference cold weather makes on my knees.:sad2:

They have been stiff the past few days, all this rain and cold doesn't help. We are having yet more rain showers again this morning, but the temps are up a tiny bit from yesterday. I'm back using the Thera-Gesic. The Castiva was OK, but I didn't like the greasy feeling it left after rubbing it in on my knees.

Good Morning Everyone,
Only a couple of pages and I am caught up for at least an hour.:thumbsup2 Going to pay some bills, do some :laundy: then I hear a nap calling my name.

Headed out all by myself this afternoon. It's the first time that I've gone alone, without someone driving me. I went to the post office, the gas station, the bank and the grocery store. Now I want to collapse....but it's too late for a small snooze, I'd be up all night.

84° out there, with a low predicted of 56° tonight.
Andy....you need to move here and read meters. The guys do it from a truck and use binoculars!

Good feeling to get some of your indepedance back. Good for you.:goodvibes

I know it's a little early, but we got our Christmas cards in the mail today and I thought I'd share it with all of you, especially since I don't have many of your addresses, this our :santa: Christmas Greeting :santa: to you!!!
