went to put a sick DD to sleep and you know what happened... I fell asleep too!

i missed chat tonight (sorry)

I hope everyone is well. I have not kept up with the boards for the last 2 weeks, but with a sick kid and the rain in NY, I may do some ketchup in the AM.

May finally book my LA hotel - looking at the Radisson Maingate at $74/nite incl taxes using skoosh.com

never heard of skoosh. seems like a UK site. they reputable?

I am still an air holdout, but with $90+ oil, this may be a stupid move on my part.

Has DIS altered ant rules with regard to the Signature?

I see mine is getting cut off!

We missed ya SIL... but there are still another 40 or so fridays left before embarkation.

And on the "air holdout"... what are you referring to ... "AIR" ? And what does that have to do with the price of oil? Well.. I can only assume the explanation of waht AIR refers to will automaticly explaine / illuminate the link to oil costs.

Well, it won't be the first time you were blamed for something, now would it, Andrew????????????

I'm sure anyone actually reading through the thread would see many, many disclaimers that we were simply speculating . . . don't worry about it. There are always many speculations on the boards before the announcement and that's part of the fun.
I get blamed for everything!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

My deepest sympathies to England and New Zealand.

Congratulations to South Africa for winning the Rugby World Cup!

Well we came 2nd! and won it last time, thats not to bad!:thumbsup2

Crash, I wish we could send you some of the rain we've had for the past four days here on the eastcoast. The images I have seen from CA are so sad. My eyes well up watching the newscast on TV. Praying the fires will end soon.

Well, yesterday was flu shot day for the three of us. I got mine at work at 11:30am, then Hazel and Angelina got theirs at the doc's office at 2:30pm. My arm is still a little sore this morning, but I'd rather have that, then catching the flu.

Andy...

... thanks for the setiments. Frankly, I've had enuf (as of Monday) but ... what choice does anyone have in matters like this. We're all thankful it had no direct impact on our homes - but we know of folks who live in the effected areas. We have not been able to reach them and - well - I did not speak of it cuz I did not know any results yet. I have a guy who used to work for me in Poway and several others in Rancho Bernando whom I don't keep in touch with. The one number I had was not working... maybe not a good sign.

Most folks have homeowners insurance IF they had a mortgage. Which roughly half do in the USA. And for those without a mortgage - I can only assume most folks would have insurance. For those with NO insurance they will probably get the $40,000 immediate relief GRANT from FEMA - and then qualify for a $200,000 emergency loan if need be. Not a solution for rebuilding if thier home was lost... and not enuf to rebuild by itself. But it is a start... if they had no insurance.

Aside from that - I heard yesterday one more house was lost - even though things were getting managable. Still fires were ragingout of control in some under populated areas - but they now have 80 helicopters working - and video on TV of all these military fire fighting choppers and so on. The skies are not as angry looking now - but the satilllite photos suggest otherwise.

I was looking at the street index lists of lost homes - and Rancho Bernandos' list was like a yellow page listing. The other cities had a few dozen to maybe near a hundred addresses listed each. No list for Lake Arrowhead with thier 175 homes lost.

Aside from that the air quality is being cited as only "unhealthful" - so the AYSO and various schools were approving outdoor activity. In some ways things are drifting back to normal for the majority of us. And for a coule thousand residents its' a different story.

It is fortunate that there is good insurance coverage for what I suspect is most folks. I suspect only a few will be financially wiped out. Most will have lost many irreplacable things (photos, etc.) but they will mostly bounce back in half a decade for sure. Now with the rebuilding effort it will be a boon to the languishging home building sector - and it will be a risk for post catastrophe fraud, gouging and abuse. We've already seen some looting. Sic. However, it is appearing to be largely managable.

Thats' a good thing. And the loss of life appears less then the 2004 fires. A very good thing, indeed.

So here I sit - because I awoke for no reason and went to raid the fridge. I was checking email for a bucca de beppo coupon I was hoping would come in - as we're going to meet up with old friends at the bucca kithen table table for super tonite. I was hoping to save ten bucks if a good coupon came in. Typical fer me, eh?

OK... back ta sleep now. Adios! We have soccer - I'm the ref - then we have dinner and a halloween community event with our friends afterwards. THey have a scary "walk", safe trick or treating set up, and a hay ride by tractor set up along with a costume contest. I'm still considering whether I'll put on my Anakin costume or not to try and win. Should I do it? Julianna just got an Elizabeth Swan costume last nite with matching shoes. They were sold out of the head piece across 5 near by Disney stores... and that is my drivng limit. RATS!

OK... I'm gonna go back and saw some wood now...

And as I go I'll share one of my favorite pictures which i came across recently... a photo many have already seen - and shall now see again. Me and my spouse 22-23 years ago on the occassion our 1st visit to Honolulu this is the fameous pass that theJapanese war planes flew through on thier approach to attack Pearl Harbor. It's now on a restricted military base - and we're being given a special "tour" with a relative who is a "Command Librarian" ... who was sort of "checking me out" to see if I was a "keeper" or one the family should be warned to get rid of - and I'm pretty sure there was at least ONE time over the years BEFORE we were married when ONE (or more) family members wanted to "get rid" of me... <ouch!> :

*** MINI MEET ALERT ***

So I know for sure that Diane, Susan & I will at least be at WDW at this time & it is a day off for Arlene - so I'm going to propose a mini meet:

Saturday, November 3 - 8:00 pm
We'll meet at Epcot between the 2 gift shops at the entrance to WS. We can scope out a spot and visit while waiting for Illuminations at 9 p.m.

Who's in?

Angelina works 12-4 today, then we have to be at one of Hazel's sister's surprise 50th Birthday Party at 5pm. The party was supposed to be held outdoors, but 4 days of rain has moved the party indoors. With over 50 people going to be there, in a tiny little house, we probably won't be staying long.

I've got to get cracking and get some bills paid, balance the checkbook, and take care of some of Angelina's choir fundraiser money. We have three different fundraisers going on at the sametime, then when we get back from vacation fundraiser #4 begins.

To date, Angelina (more like her parents) have sold over 30 cheesecakes, many hoagie coupons, and some tupperware. The pointsettia(sp) sale will begin sometime in November. The one good thing is, we have raised over $110.00 so far, to go into Angelina's choir trip account!!! :thumbsup2

However, I will be happy when all these fundraisers are finished!!! :rolleyes1

*********************************************************

I had a friend book me a fake date for 11-1-08, to sail on the Magic while he was cruising this week. We are still waiting to see what DCL has planned for the summer of 2009, if we aren't interested in where the Magic will be going, then we will move our ressie to October 2009, where Hazel and I will celebrate our 34th wedding anniverary onboard the Magic. At least that is the plan for now............

OK, I've got to get a move on it.....

Presume her sister doesn't read these boards, or else its no longer a surprise.

Went to the Barber to get my hair cut today and I asked why they opened up next to a Pub.

They said it was to make it easier for themselves,

Why I asked.

Because the men come in ''HALF CUT'':rotfl2:

A sensible and rich one, ! Not having to pay Disney for an addiction!
