Well,looks like my Summer of Leisure is coming to an end. I got a call from my new manager and I have to be back to school tomorrow to help open up the kitchen. This is a new school for me. I did work there last year for the summer feeding program but not during the regular school year. New names and faces to learn.

The family & I leave on Friday for DL

A much needed mini-vacation (we're taking 4 days). 2 nights with friends in Santa Monica & 2 nights at DLH Concierge.

We're Pre-K thru 5th there. I prefer the little ones,I can still tell them what to do and not worry about reprocussions.

I also don't get paid during the summer when I'm off either. Things are getting a bit tight. I was going to work the s. program this year but would have had to work with my old manager and don't really care to see her again.

I am a teacher ...get paid thru summer with on job....other one no....but I nanny so summer isn't completely off....

I would not walk but run to the passport office. I applied April 11 and it took exactly 16 weeks to get mine. This was after I told the agency I was leaving for a cruise soon. I herad nothing for 14 weeks. I had to call the agency 5 times to have it expedited. My application went to the New Hamshire office where the overflow was given to process. The office was closed til July 1st and just started processing the applications there.My forms were just sitting at this office for over 12 weeks. No one has control of what office the passport will be processed from. I was told by the New Hamshire office "the applications could take up to 10 more weeks if I did not call". Total time would be 26 weeks to get passport.

I guess we were very lucky, both DDs expired, one went in the beginning of June and got hers about 3 weeks ago. The other went 2 weeks later (I had to go with her because she is nder 18) and we are still waiting, hoping it will come before we leave for Cancun (although she doesn't really need it for that, she just has to show proof that she applied).

Last summer we went to Alaska. I really had to twist MiL's arm to get a passport for that trip. Made it so much easier.
Well, she should be thanking me. SiL surprised her w/ another trip to Alaska this summer and she is all set. The others she is traveling w/ are still scrambling to make sure they get theirs in time.
Sometimes Dil's do know best - even if she won't admit it.

I wondered about that. Since they are children their passport was only issued for 5 years. I need to put that on my to-do list.

Letter arrived from DCL they are paying the $100 Panama Canal fee as a good will gesture for all those who booked the Cruise, East & West. All charges will be removed within 10 to 14 days.

Just check the requirement, I think you need certified copy of birth certificate with the application. Hopefully you didn't send the only certified copy in with your application....
