What a fabulous picture! Your girls have grown so since the last pirate pic!

Our family is back from our 10 day commando (no we had underwear) whirlwind tour of WDW/Wonder. We had a great time but everyone is tired. We we all happy to sleep in our own beds last night. We were disappointed that we did not meet up with Tom31B while we were there but trying to see 4 parks in 4 days, dealing with Disney transportation, lack of cell phone signals, and inability of accessing the Internet from CBR. Overall we had a fantastic time but obviously tried doing too much in a short period of time. We could not have had better weather while we were there. This is something that I worried about before leaving. Only rained (hard rain) once on us at Epcot and that was only for about 45mins.
PirateFamily.jpg

I have missed so much here with the launch of the new website. We would like to thank JR and Tom for their hard work on this great website. JR the site looks great and you have our full support in the handling of security. What you have posted sounds like a very logical approach to this problem. If I can make a suggestion on something that I would find useful with the pirate list is to have DIS user name/real first name of posters for chat. Many of us know most peoples names but occasionally someone new pops in and we do not know their names.

I didn't check that out yet..............How far in the future are we talking about?:rotfl2:

I don't think any calendars will go far enough into future to show the date when we pay off the trip :lmao: :lmao:

Welcome back! I love the picture! :thumbsup2

:flower3: ..and thanks lisa, for all the stuff you done. i hope all
the stuff you been tied up with ..works out. i know our
school systems ..can make anyone wanting to pull their hair out.
and...that's a big job you're taking on. * sure hope major things
have'nt forced changes in your cruise plans...:flower3:

..& i appricated how "safe" our personal info....you are. :goodvibes

who'dya thought....j.r.....had great technical knowledge & his wife's
permission...:thumbsup2

.....:confused3 , over some of the debates. i never understand exactly
the problem..last time, which meant i wasn't on the site yet? anyhoo,
..i can understand..why some would be very concern..over "intruders'
messin up..people e-mails, esp. those conducting buisness.

...i really liked esteri's insights...because they reflected what i felt this
site should be...sharing of cruise knowledge, & preferences...* i talk
alot of about my lil'miss, cos thats my primary operations...it will be
rare when we are not doing things on the cruise together...our interests
also will guide the slections ..we most likely be doing. noticed? i have
alot of focus...on eating? :yay: , we got resvs. for boma ,christmas day.

i do think its should be a open form for all those cruising & visiting here,
no mater how much or lil' they're posting. i think its great when others
talk about themselves and families...and iam not bothered if others feels
"we" not there types/or appeal to their sense of interests. [heck, if we
were all the same, & did all the same things, the ship...might take on
water..out of balance? { note...i  eating...:rolleyes1 }, but
there's something to toast..about respecting other differnces & or
preferences. i can understand...those that would not want to be near,
when my boys sit down..to eat....the food will disppear, quick fashion.

for myself..i have a strong penchant , for those who put others down,
to feel good about themselves...even on disney cruises, we have
experienced some intrusive people, requiring limit settings & redirecting.
again~ why here?....we have done 5 cruises. we considered very blessed,
not privileged. any hoo, i that's where i saw the dis group doing their
things...never been interested in groups... but i saw how nice and how
much they created for themselves...families..and everyone else. :wizard:
that type of pirate: spirit should be encouraged.

me..like :coffee: too! :yay:

..its embrasssing...seeing that ohio's fireman..out of uniform & in his bikini!
:dance3: ...i don't think i'll ever "get" what wenches "see" in us??

..ok, who's getting marry tomorrow? (o7-07-07) lucky :earboy2: & :bride:

ITA that I have enjoyed getting to know everyone here & hoping to know even more people before we cruise. I am sad to see a dark cloud hanging over this thread & I miss all the banter that has gone on here during the last few months. I would be sad to see anyone go MIA on us. :grouphug:

I saw a story on the news about what a huge day it is to get married tomorrow. I guess it will be easy to remember your anniversary? :bride:

Now that's fitting! :goodvibes

Hum. Seems to me it's the perfect age to introduce them to gormet dining. V&A isn't much of a step up from the CG. Maybe bring them along? (or maybe not ;) )

In any case, your DH will find things to eat. Not everything is "weird". Mostly it's in how it's worded. For example, Fresh Rotinni Pasta in a Three Cheese Bechemel Sauce is nothing more than good old Mac and Cheese. Though a very good Mac and Cheese. I expect your server can provide a more down to earth translation of the menu if you need it.

The few times we've been there's always been a chicken, seafood, and beef or game (duck, buffalo, venison, etc. nothing outlandish) choice for the main dish.

Ya....maybe not! Thanks for the info. about the food. I'll DH know & who knows maybe we'll go sooner rather than later!

For our trip in August I've only made about 3 ADRs for 12 nts. I am doing the one thing that everyone warns you about on the restaurant board...going without ADRs! :scared: I'll let you know if we ate CS every night or not!

Easier than pulling off my wedding ring and squinting at the date engraved inside.... :lmao: :lmao:

Our local hardware store recently celebrated its 99th birthday with a party. (OK, they celebrate every birthday with a party, but next year's should be a real bash!) They have a couple of clowns that paint faces and twist balloons.

And now modeling the latest in Pirate fashion is Issac...

Notice the piratey gleam in his eye, and the exqusitely curled lip. The color and decoration of his shirt certainly has no equal.

Pirate03-sm.JPG

Notice how easily the sword pulls from the belt - a master craftsclown forged this weapon. And the habadashery on the hat is most excellent.

Pirate04-sm.JPG

But no amount of fashion is worth the ability to make the scoundels walk the plank!

I love it! A pirate that would make Jack Sparrow proud I'm sure! :thumbsup2

I hear you, I think we've only got an ADR for every other day on our 10 day trip. :rotfl:

You know... I've got an extra V&A ADR for Sun, 8/25. We weren't certain we'd get the Chef's Table, so make the "back up" ressie. You're most welcome to it. (Chrissie will be there too! We can have a mini-meet at V&A! :rotfl2: )

Yep DD is 13 & doesn't need a B A B Y S I T T E R  but I just prefer to take her & DS to dinner with us while we're in WDW. Our big dinner every trip is CG right now. They love it as much as we do! I'm still not even sure DH would be thrilled with V&A since he is strictly a meat & potatoes guy.
Plus with the prices they are charging...he darn well better be thrilled or at least I can say, "Well it was our anniversary so it was worth it!" :goodvibes

You can pass this little story onto your DH from me!

My best friend (whom I call my sister) Mary had been raised in what DH would call a boring meal family. They never went out of their comfort zone when cooking and thus as she grew into an adult she ate the same things all the time. In October 2001 we headed to Las Vegas to meet DH’s family for the first time. We had planned out a few fun things with them but had a special night out at Emeril’s Fish house. We dressed up in formal dressed and got all decked out. Once at the restaurant we had menu’s in hand and she turned her nose up at everything! I ordered the grilled swordfish, HC had the Salmon and Mary…. She had a pork chop! I was so mad at her because she refused to try anything “they don’t have flounder, and that is all I like” was her reply to me. When the food came out she reluctantly tried my fish and HC’s and guess what.. she loved them! We tease her now, she now follows the same pact I made which is to try something new at every new place we go… It has come along handy when we were Jamaica and on the cruise. She even tried Calamari and Escargot and liked them both. So maybe your DH just needs a little push, who knows he might find something new he likes! They say our taste buds change every few years so who knows!
Have fun on your trip!

I guess I would rather have brown grass then flooding.:sad2: I hope the weather gets better soon.:)

Okay I had to ask John what time that really is!!!!:rotfl: Maybe we could meet earlier than the rest I am meeting at Downtown Disney. We were planning the mini meet about 3 or 4 but I will go earlier to see you all.

The floods seem to be subsiding (have mostly been in Sheffield and Hull) and it hasn't rained today :yay:

We'll discuss closer to the time but we will aim to get to DTD at about 14:15 but must leave at 15:00 to ensure we get to the airport for 16:00 :sad2:

Hi everyone! Website is excellent. If I can help in anyway, let me know.

Esteri - in response to tantrums, the tv goes off, but she has learnt how to turn on the tv, satellite box & amp!!! Mickey is restricted to just before bed time only, or if I'm desperate to do something & it's the only way I can get to do it!

Believe it or not, in the UK we are often told things are the wrong type, e.g. last year it was the wrong type of snow for the ploughsw to clear & a couple of years back it was the wrong type of leaves on the railway tracks so that trains got stuck!!!

Today has seen no rain, just lots of gusty wind, so I've hung out the washing & hope to not have to retrieve it from my neighbours garden.

Busy week-end here in the UK: Wimbledon (tennis), Henley (rowing), Silverstone (formula 1), Tour de France (cycling) & the live earth concert. Not yet sure what my preference will be - probably the formula 1

Enjoy your chat later (with the time difference I can't make it as I will have already turned into a pumpkin)

Not to be outdone. A few pictures Jakob took at Yellowstone National Park (except for the ones he's in, of course). In the interest of not forcing you to look at someone else's vacation photos :rotfl: , I won't embed them all, but will provide links to some.

The Hills Are Alive....

Ylwstn01-sm.JPG

Entrance Arch (though we went out the in on our visit...) Jakob is knocking at the door. He thought it was funny. :sad2: 10 year olds.

Ylwstn12-sm.JPG

The obiligitory Geyser picture. No, we didn't see Old Faithful. It was a total mad house there, and I had to stay with the van so the dogs wouldn't overheat. Couldn't send Jakob in alone there.

Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the Grey Wolf we saw.

This park is AWESOME! Both in the modern, and traditional meaning of the word. If you haven't been - go! The variety of terrain, animal life, and ecosystems is really astonishing.

Enjoy!

Hi!

Oh man! I think I am a planaholic! I have 14 ressies for 12 days!

I have a bad condition don't I?

Chrissie

That would be 2:15pm, 3:00pm, and 4:00pm for the 24-hour clock challenged amongst us - usually non-military, and non-computer programmers. :)

David - I prefer the 24 hour clock too - so much easier to write = fewer keystrokes, and improved clarity. Use it for all our planning at home. ;)

You are SO in trouble. :rotfl2:

Go rowers! My best friend is on the US National team - preparing for World's in Germany right now. She rows in the coxed four adaptive boat (for the disabled - she's blind)

Hi!

Chrissie

Nah. That's the kind of trip we usually have. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Which is a very good approach for ADRs at WDW.

You shouldn't feel obligated to go if you really are not feeling up to it. (Though if you aren't going to go it is nice to call and let them know so they are comfortable taking a walk up.) The key is to be willing to toss the plan out the window when you need to. A good plan isn't about controlling chaos - chaos can't be controlled. It's about knowing how to react when chaos happens. (Which it will.)

We're going for a different kind of trip this time. Less time in the parks, more time at the resort - and since we're staying at OKW, it's easy to make your own meals. The family we're going with expressed the wish to not work so hard this trip. :rotfl: I was quite happy to oblige.

We've got ADRs for all the stuff we really want to do, and the rest will be serendipity.

Easier than pulling off my wedding ring and squinting at the date engraved inside.... :lmao: :lmao:

Tom, I need to get this done to my ring. Our wedding was on the Saturday of time change in October. Always knew that when I heard that time change was coming it was time to get something for our anniversary. As of this year time change has been changed to November. :confused3 So now I need to come up with a way that I won't forget it.

Another planner checking in... I have a TS ADR for every night we are at WDW this July/August... I call it the Foodalot trip..

Anyway going to see if I can ketchup.. be back soon..

Chrissie we too had 5 ADRs for 4 nights and 1 morning. No one told us of the perils of trying to get to the ADRs though. First night we had to wait until 5pm to get our room and spent until 5:15 trying to get our luggage delivered then trying to make it to MK for a 6pm ADR. Next night had a 6pm ADR again at Boma this time and we were ready to leave early. Then I get a phone call from the cruise concierge desk that I had to come to their office to finalize our cruise check in. Made it to Boma as the clock struck 6pm. Next night 6pm at 1900 Park Fare. We were at Epcot all day and figured we will just take the bus directly to GF and be there in plenty of time. Come to find out GF does not have a bus from Epcot, we have to take the monorail. Just made that one. Did OK on the next one. Sunday morning prior to taking the bus to the Wonder we had a 8:30am ressie at Chef Mickey. We took a cab so we would not be late. Well our cab driver promptly got caught speeding and was pulled over and ticketed. Somebody obviously wanted us not to make it to our ADRs.

Thanks Gabbie! He is little more adventurous with his eating since he met me, but emphasis is on the little. His mother was a very plain & predictable cook. Every week it was burgers, spagetti & meatballs, ham, baked chicken, meatloaf, and chewy steak. Now he does like a lot of spices in his food thanks to me. He insisted he hated asparagus till I made him try it & now it's one of his favorite vegetables. He has tried a few things like lobster, shrimp, salmon, (none of which he liked) but he absolutely won't even attempt clams, calamari or escargot (which I don't even like) and forget lamb, bison, elk, etc. I fear he's a lost cause at this point. :sad2:

Actually you're doing what anyone on the restaurant board will tell you do & what I also usually do. I am just taking a trip more like Esteri this time, and keeping things very relaxed. We have APs so we'll come & go to the parks & I have no definite plans of where will be at any given time. And there are no places that I absolutely have to eat at other than CP, Ohana, & CG which is where I made the ADRs. I'll be happy with whatever else we can get last minute. I'm just not in the mood to make a bunch of ADRs that I'll either end up cancelling or I'll be working our schedule around. Not this trip anyway! ;)
