OK, now I think I might be flying to DC at the end of the month. I can schedule 3 real interviews with people I've had good phone interviews with, & I might be able to narrow our house hunt down to an area or two by driving around.

I can stay with friends & I can get a down-right bargain basement $500 flight, which I am totally justifying by figuring if it gets me a job a few days earlier, then it has paid for itself. Plus, I can't figure out how to go to job interviews this summer while to kids are home with me & I really don't want to pay for day care until I'm actually employed. Life just keeps getting more complicated doesn't it?

We've decided (at least this week) that we can't really look for a house until I know where I am working. My kids are in school, but I have no interest in both of us being 1-1.5 hours away from them all day.

Oh and I think I really, really, really want one of the jobs I am going to interview for while I'm there...

I still say if you wait that nice white building with the pillars and the lawn downtown D.C. will have a vacancy next November.

I guess you're different than my wife and I -- we only feel safe if we are at least an hour away from our children. Makes it real hard for the school to call say "DD has the sniffles, can you come pick her up".

Good luck with the interviews.

Actually, Brack, there are many things I could have said. But I don't need another warning from a moderator not to be rude. :)

I understand! We all want to be good :lmao:

..................... or at least not kicked of the DIS. :surfweb:

Actually, one of my interviews may be in the nice white building with the dome and the steps down the street from the one with the pillars and the lawn.

I'm not sure I want the job, but who am I to turn down an interview?

Ok, I just got the strangest call from my DS10's elementary school.

Paraphrasing:

"Today in art class, there was a substitute teacher. The teacher told a story about kids who made bad choices and ended up killing themselves. The teacher was removed from the class room and will not be working in the district any longer. The students were provided counseling and if you have any other questions, please contact the principal."

I don't think the principal is going to be a very happy woman over the next 24 hours.

Good luck with your interviews. I'm sure that whatever you get to do you will be a welcome change to the usual "Beltway Gang"!

Crash:

1) I will assume you are only joking when you say you don't know what a 'brazilian' is? We may need to check your man card.

2) The haircut is an adept change of subject, as long as you are going to a licensed barber to have the hair cut... on your head.

3) A blonde was sitting in a train station reading the paper. The headline read, "12 Brazilian soldiers killed in shootout". She turned to the man next to her and asked "How many is a brazilian"?

Oh ... how funny... the Brazilian!
So, I got my haircut... and I was just kidding. I was being a little silly is all... on account of my departing town in a couple of minutes (now) I posted something to "bait" a change of subject. Then again... I was just havin' some chuckles, as usual.

So I have to call the airline for an update on the delayed flight coming into Honolulu to pick up my in-laws to see if they're really gonna be 8 hours delayed. Instead of arriving at 9PM tonight it will be more like 5AM instead... yuck!

Alas - this relaxes our schedule to get up there to meet them IF it holds true.

OK... this was a last glance before I head out the door... one last glance now before I go...

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I was going to say all of those photos were way way WAY off base!

How sexist of that salon...men only have the option of a back or unibrow waxy?

I agree...

... there's no justice! And my in-laws flight is landing at 3AM now... so I got some time. We'll be leaving momentarily though...

Adios folks!

Now THAT sounds thought provoking....

... I would consider that to be a bit of a privilage. Wow!

I am sorry to hear of this... at least it was caught quickly.

Hope it turns out OK.

OK... we're going to the van now... adios!

In the mood to post some pictures of WDW visits. We get to go in about three weeks for a couple of days.

Will you take me to the Disney store????
The costume should work well, she can wear her winter coat under her costume!

:sad2: Hopefully next year you wont make your kids put on their winter coats under their costumes since it should be warmer in DC. ;) It is usually always nice and warm that night here.

I had to pass this one on!
To demonstrate how difficult it was to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance
man to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled
squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.

Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers.... and then there are educators.

:scared: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Say...

... I don't know whether anyone else has posted this yet - but this weekend (the 19th) appears to be the premier of POTC3 and at Disneyland they're running a fund raiser for the Make a Wish Foundation... one of the charitable groups that I favor... and seats are available at $1500 each if I read the promo correctly!? And since Disney is fully subsidizing the event 100% of the funds will go to the MAW Foundation. Anyone have interest in this???

I am departing for SF after lunch tomorrow (today) ... as our plans changed when we had a noon appointment cancel - thus freeing up some of our morning - otherwise we would have hit the road at 7AM. I'll be out of touch 99% of the time til monday evening... So... I'd like to offer everyone cordial good wishes for a wonderful weekend and happy birthday well wishes for all who are marking the ocassion in the days to come.

Here's the flyer...

that sold out in 3 days!

I would perfer to take a buy out. If sb registrtion is $50 (also includes uniforms) and $30 of raffle tkts to sell, just charge me $80 and get it over with! :confused3

Most of the time they only get 20-40% of what they sell so I just give based on that.

If it were just me deciding ALONE... yes. But the spouse wants to sail with her family (group) ... and to preserve that potential we're fading from this great deal. RATS! Oh well...

You guys go an; have a blast for us folks who stayed behind to keep the thread going!!!

If we waited for the rest of either side of the family to make a decision about where to go or what to do when we would have never left this house. I am so glad that DH is more adventuresome than his parents.
