Obviously you DO lurk here because you seem to have noticed our signatures and photos.....How else do you expect this many people to get to know one another. We care about each other's lives. We want to see what a special day someone here had. I realize you may find it annoying because you do not know most of the people here, but we do care. If you do not want to take the time to get to know your fellow travelers then why would you want to folow our lines of communication? At times there are several conversations going on at the same time. Most of the itme we have talked about a special trip and then posted our photos or are sharing our children.

Maybe if you came on less accusationally and just asked what information you were trying to obtain, you would realize that there are no less than 50 regulars around here who would gladly answer your concern. I don't have a great deal of time either. I read only the last few pages when I come back on. I know if I missed anything majorly important someone will have requoted it or one of my fellow PEEPS will let me know. I am sure I miss things that people say or do but you do what you can. I don't think it is worth being upset at those who do care to chat alot. (Tom can't help it if he is a lawyer and has no work to do........ ...Tom I am truly kidding)

Anyway just wondering what you were hoping to accomplish by insulting posters here. If you want to be a part of the group then that is GREAT but just jump in and accept those that have a different approach to this thread. I am not trying to be rude I just think that we are a family of sorts and I just think its a little rude to walk into a strangers home and insult their lifestyle. You might want to get to know them before you criticize so readily.

And BTW many many people have GTY because DCL overbooked the cruise. They will not be assigning rooms until full payment. So you will have to pay before you know what room you will be in more than likely.

Guess I missed something while I was recovering from the early morning run to do everything. I thought I'd chime in and volunteer to welcome MIKE to just jump in and say what makes sense... and please try to be cordial.

That said ... thanks for the kind defensive comments Judy* . Saves me the steam while I would have sorted through how to think of it.

Oh shoot... my spouse is getting frumpy about something... hope I'm innocent of all potential fault. SHe says someone knocked over her swim bag spilling her stuff ... shes' grumping ... "you guys".... I wonder what would come of it if my spouse knew how much I really posted here... <chuckles - then a sober "GULP"> Actually... I happen to know I am guilty of what shes grumping about and I am gonna try to sweeten her up a little.... Uh-O... she just leveled a "time out" on the older daughter... I better go look in on whats going on....

I HATE to feel attacked and I did feel attacked. However, I will turn the other cheek in the hopes that Mike will take your advice and have a change of heart. After all - this is Disney!

I understand many people don't like us but I for one relish our talks and I am one of those guilty ones. But when life is going to pot around you sometimes you need a little extra boost to help you make it through the day!

Well said by you also Laura. I chose to just ignore the posting, but I am glad that you all replied. Both Judy and you said it eloquently(OK there is that word again for the umpteenth time)

Good Lord, I wasn't trying to insult anyone. If you, or anyone felt insulted by my comment, I'm certainly sorry.

I was just trying to convey a frustration of not being able to follow any threads because I don't get a chance to come on often and there are sooooo many posts that it's very hard to keep up. Apparently my choice of words was poor. Again, if you were insulted, I'm sorry.

Actually, that's not the case for me since, technically, I paid. I'm using my DVC points for the cruise and they have most assuredly been taking out of my account already, so the cruise is "paid" for. It's probably more like overbooking that is the case. When I asked Member Services about it before they said, "The cruise line has not released any rooms for us to book yet." I've asked them to link my room with the 5-day post cruise as well, so maybe they will let me have the same room. We'll see.

Not only do I remember "party lines" but have used them. Also back then the numbers were listed with a name. Ours was TEMPLE. What happened was that you used the first two letters (T E) on the dial that matched the number so our telephne number started with 83*-****. Plus it was a rotary dial not buttons!

It can't possibly be "MANY". Our thread is no different from most any other cruise meet thread... well, ... er... OK, ours' is a little bigger then most ... but aside from that we have a LOT of very well seasoned DCL veterans. Many of whom have enjoied the DIS and DCL for years. ANd some have choosen to to primarily lurk as evidenced by thier modest post counts here or in total .... while others have taken an active role in building the community that so many take for granted.

So - as such - forgive me for suiggesting so - but maybe use of the term "many" is too BIG a word... and maybe we could substitute "some" or "a few" .... for that word. AND might I suggest we insert "MIGHT" somewhere in there.

Besides... if there were large numbers of malcontents or ill feeling sorts thenwhy would they be lurking amongst us here - if not to perpetuate thier own ill feelings? Naw.... I think we get lots of hits because there are a lot of lurkers.... obviously. And our numbers are swelled by he sold out status so early ... and probably a disporportionate number are DIS ENTHUSIASTS.... not DIS malcontents or ill feeling sorts.

I for one do indeed welcome all folks - it is a free board - and I only ask that folks try to maintain a cordial tone. No need for pithy or less then polite commentary... unless obviously it is meant in good taste somehow. I don't think we have anyone here who is a "regular contributor" who is all that nasty a sort. And I would like to welcome any and all who may feel reluctant about posting - to just step forward and say decent things and try to have a little fun while they're at it. The folks who frequent the thread are EXCEEDINGLY nice folks ... that is except on full moons during leap years with a democrat in the oval office. THEN you DO have to be careful ... because otherwise decent folks may turn ... foul. <chuckles>

SO I stopped by at home a moment because my spouse complained I had packed out picnic basket with some stuff she had already packed. SO I left it behind... as did SHE! SO we got to the park without the main entree.... and I ran back to the house to pick it up. ANd here I am again...

Oh well... I was wonderin' ... as you made reference to "doing services with them" ... and you're having dinner with the officers? This has me guessing as to if you're a minister ... or military chaplin or something? And "officers" has a capital "O".... so does this imply anything as well?

I am an Ordained Minister in The Salvation Army. Ministers in this Army are also Commisioned as Officers.

Each town that has a unit of The Salvation Army has Officers assigned to it. Usually it's a married couple because both the husband and wife are ordained and commissioned together.

My current assignment is what we call headquarters where we oversee all the units in Maryland and West Virginia. My particular assignment is in finance (CFO). Most weekends our headquarters staff visit the units for Sunday services either to just visit or participate.

The capital "O" doesn't really imply anything but is simply a convention.

Enjoy those "get-even moments" because there comes a time when they actually allow those moments. I think my DS turned 30 when that happened.

He still hates for me to take his picture though .....

Between dh and our children (5! ages 27, 23, 16, 9 & 5) I'm never in a photo because they all LOVE to get their picture taken! The camera comes out and they are all smiles!

All of the important things are kept on page 1. We are not really into planning mode--it is way to early for that. We are in the making and growing of friendship mode. This thread has been nonstop since January and it will keep on long after we have arrived back to Port Canaveral.

It may seem mindless chatter at time but it is really heartfelt interaction among friends that gets more heartfelt the more we learn about each other.
