Well, DD doctor appointment was a bit disappointing to say the least. The mega test of all tests, did not reveal what the dr was expecting to see. He still feels that their maybe some type of impingement in her hip but wants more tests to make sure. I can just say that even though nothing major showed up, which is a good thing, he still didn't rule out the chance that there may be a need for some type of surgery. DD is very frustrated. It means more waiting for this test since dr does it himself at the hospital but he is going on vacation so we can't get it done for at least 2 weeks.

Good morning folks..

... Just renewed a huge parenting lesson... DON'T LET THE YOUNG ONES VIEW OR PEEK AT ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE ON TV! I've had the young one in my arms for (it seems) hours now; an' earlier this evening she was with the older daughter when they were watching Narnia. Well, for those who saw it - remember the scene with the wolves when they were interrogating the Fox about where the badgers and 3 kids had run? That scene was too intense for the little one!

She ran off and sat on a chair in the kitchen telling me immediately she didn't want to see anymore Narnia! Shes' had nitemares and several "fits" about being afraid of it. I last had a poblem with the older one when he was smaller after she saw Star Trek Voyager episodes wuth the Borg assymelating people. She would awaken in the nite and after a spat of crying would firmly declare she didn't want to kill anyone like in Star Trek!
Good nite folks from California.... [/CENTER]

You just can't keep them from seeing everything...especially since what will bother them can change each week or even day. OY! DS loves watching HP but is afraid of the dementors at bedtime. We use to go thru the first HP movie muting the parts where the book screams because it bothered him. He could watch it but not hear it. LOL!

I have been off this board for the past week... too much work! Plus I need to finish off planning for my first DCL cruise this August.. and our trip to WDW afterwards (looks like free dining is going to happen this year:goodvibes ).

But I try to stay in touch with my fellow EB Repo'ers in the Friday chat.

And last night was very fun and informative. You have to try and make it next time!

It's great to see so many chat newbies trying it out. :)

Phew! I feel much better knowing that SOMEONE is keeping track of all this . . .LOL Now if we could just get that darn website live . . .LOL Thanks, Capt.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:coffee: Hey everybody!

Sunny and bright here today in the mountains. And most of the stinkin' s**w is but a distant memory! Off to do some cleaning and stuff. Have a great day everyone!

:wave2: Hi Diane! Remember long ago we got to talking about the interactive Stitch? Well, I managed to get one for my DD on eBay and she'll be  when I give it to her for her b-day on Friday. :woohoo: Rack up another 'awesome' mom point. :rotfl2:

Since I am up to Saturday...I guess that I will tell you what I did that day. LOL! I mainly worked on our financial records...catching up the months of paperwork that I hadn't filed, figuring out funds current value online, strategizing investment decisions and the like. UGH! Sunday I did the taxes on taxact.com and found out that I had missed a couple deductions so don't have to pay.

I have to get all the wallpaper off my master bathroom walls. In every bath in the house, they put the wallpaper straight on the drywall with NO PRIMER!! Any suggestions or recommendations for safely removing the paper without removing patches of drywall would be most appreicated!!
.

They did this in our kitchen but they didn't use the glue properly so it came off the walls quite easily. Is there anything that you can use on the existing paper to prepare it to be wpd on? Have you tried taking the wp off yet?

Well now I have endured the second trauma of my son's transition to stinky teen. First it was noticing the faint trace of peach fuzz on his lip. Now today he has asked a girl to go see a movie with him on Saturday.

My baby boy!!!

His little sister keeps calling it a date. Of course that is ridiculous as he is way too young and we will be taking her with our family while we go to one movie and they go to another. It still tugs at my heart though.

Sorry Mom, but I think little sister is right....it sounds like a "Date" to me :)

Thank you re posts re DD Alice's ears, basically the one operated on has improved whilst there is a SMALL chance of rejection, all seems ok and latest hearing test showed a great improvement.

The other ear, still is perferated and cannot be operated on for the time being, its stable but due to the location of a bone, will have to wait and see.

Thank you for your nice comments.

That is great news about the one ear, Andrew! Hopefully the other will improve to the point where it can be repaired as well.

ok...if by chance i mentioned..pack rat, does it have any meaning to
any of you?

OK...

... my spouse just figured out the little one has a FEVER. So - her comments about having hearing issues last nite were not mistaken. I missed that when dealing with the scared feelings issues. I was soooo wacked at one point I was NOT thinking straight at all. Now it all rushes back to me in SHARP FOCUS as to why the little one insisted on being held so much by me last nite.

SO, we have a doctors appointment in 37 minutes. Plus I'm waiting for an Express Mail package this morning - so I'll have to see what comes of the plans for who goes or not with her to the doc. :surfweb:

Don't beat yourself up too badly, Tom. I think that all parents have had moments like this where you think DUH! Why didn't I realize that. It was because you were physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted after trying to take the best care of your children because you only want the best for them. You are also short on sleep. I can appreciate what you go thru with both kids while your DW is out of town. :grouphug:

Hey Paula I really like that too!!! Where did you say you got it? I must have missed it while all the chat words flew by at 100 mph :rotfl:

LOL! MR I have the first few hours on file. :) I didn't realize that the history fills up after a certain point & you stop saving it.

Gosh, I feel so special! Lil Grumpy mentioned me in one of his multi posts :goodvibes

So sorry to hear that you didn't find any definitive answers regarding your DD. I can't even imagine how frustrating this must be for all of you, especially DD! I hope you are able to find resolution soon!

This is a true story......when my DS was in the 2nd grade and learning about the Presidents we were talking about Abe Lincoln and the Civil War. My darling, adorable, cute as a button son turns around and asks me if Abraham Lincoln was nice when I met him :rotfl2: I gently explained that Abe Lincoln lived long before I was born. To add insult to injury DS then added "But you did live in the world when it was gray" I asked him to explain and he said I lived before there was any color in the world like on those really old shows I watched. Yes, John, Mom lived during the time that TV was BLACK & WHITE :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: He thought there was no color in the world Period! Kids are CRAZY :lmao: :lmao:

But I never have met Abraham Lincoln ............REALLY!!!!

Too funny!!! :) You never know what kids are going to say.

Last year I had DS watching the history channel shows when DH was gone. We were watching a show about George Washington & when he crossed the Deleware. DS had a lot of questions & watched it closely.

DS: Mommy, did they have electricity then?
Me: No, sweetheart. Ben Franklin was probably working on it then though.

about 10 minutes later...
DS: Mommy, did they have batteries then?
Me: No they didn't. They didn't get batteries until after electricity was invented.

about 20 minutes later...
DS: Well, if they didn't have electricity and they didn't have batteries, how the heck did they tape all of this?
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I then realized that he thought what we were watching was actual footage of George Washington like when we had watched things about WWII or anything that has happened since then with the new clips. I had to explain to him that the people that we were watching were actors reinacting what had happened based on written accounts. :goodvibes

When I told his teacher about this she actually said that what he had questioned was advanced for his age.

Santa never wrapped presents when I was growing up. I really liked seeing all my toys sitting in a big pile so I decided to stick with the tradition. ;) It sure makes things a lot easier on Christmas Eve!

I loved to wrap all the presents. I even wrap the stocking presents. I just loved to torture my children and keep them in suspense. Now I can do it all over again to my granchildren.:thumbsup2

I still kinda of miss the old days of black and white.:sad2: Life seemed to be less complicated. It did not matter what brand of shoes a person wore. It was knowing a person had shoes to wear.

I know you don't me rat pack because I know them too!! Yes, I guess I am a pack rat too!! I have every orginal Star Wars Toys, Barbies, and even the orginal GI Joe up in the attic. When we move to Florida in five years, we are going to have the Biggest Garage Sale ever!!!!!!

I got one more year out of Adam at I think 10. He had kept on and on about he knew Santa wasn't real. We always spend Christmas Eve with DH side of the family and have our Christmas when we wake up. I had my sis come to our house and put all the Santa presents out while we were gone. You should have seen his face when we walked in that night, he was so confused. he thought he had it all figured out. He didn't mention that Santa wasn't real the next year.:)

Awesome Idea!! :thumbsup2 I'll have to use it this year.

We were there also. I think it was the first time WDW had ever closed of a hurricane. We were at OKW at the time. :) This was when we still received passes as members. I mailed copies of all of our room cards to guest relations and they mailed me 12 1 day park hoppers for them. I just used the last 2 last year. I was really surprised to get them:banana:

No, we were in the parks - so they didn't close. Maybe I got my dates wrong.

Looks like since we our now DVC members we are going to be at Disney World Jan 1st thru the 8th ....Anybody up for that ????

We're going the last two weeks of August. Sorry. :sad2:

Mr, they have some sites that sell hats with sunblock protection in them. I need to find a hat for the summer as well.

Landsend, REI, and Campmor all have them. (In case you didn't know where to find them.)

DRAT! Missed by 3 days. Quick weekend trip for us Jan 11-14 for DH to run the marathon.

He thinks it will be much easier than 7 commando days in the park with me.

And he's probably right!!! :lmao:

Well, DD doctor appointment was a bit disappointing to say the least. The mega test of all tests, did not reveal what the dr was expecting to see. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We took the boys to see Carmen last month. We had to help Issac (5) understand what was real and what wasn't. I probably have the only 5 and 9 year olds who sing opera in the bath!

And when we saw the Nutcracker at Christmas it took almost all of Act 2 to help him work out the death of the Mouse King and why the little mouse was crying.

It must be so very hard for you and your DD to go through all these tests and get no definative answers. Waiting is perhaps the hardest part than knowing what you actually have to deal with.:confused3 I hope things will get resolved soon.:flower3:

We're home too....just too tired to post last night! I was so frustrated at not being able to logon while we were gone. I guess the Boards suffered a few technical difficulties? Seems at lot of attractions at DLand did, too.

What a great time! We had the most fun with Todd and Melissa and the boys!! Super family. Just makes me wish for the cruise to come even sooner now.

Sounds like you all had a great time. I think we are all jealous you had a mini meet!!! I think us midwest people should be planning a meet soon.!!!:hourglass

Good Afternoon, everyone!!! :flower3:

We're REALLY moving along with the adoption process. We had a bit of a stanstill for a little while, because we've started looking more into possibly adopting a slightly older child (like age 2-4) instead of a newborn. We've discussed (extensively!) that while we would LOVE to have a baby :cloud9: , we just feel like our purpose right now is to give a home to a slightly older child. These are the children who are a little harder to place because everyone wants newborns. :sad1:
We will DEFINITELY look into adopting an infant later on, but for some reason right now we feel really compelled to adopt a slightly older, harder to place child. Our biggest stipulation though is that we DO still want to have a few good Christmases while he/she still believes in Santa!!
I know that may sound a bit self-seving, but I REALLY cannot wait to give a child his/her very first HUGE, no-holds barred, super blow-out Christmas!! I cannot wait to see the look in their eyes when they walk out into a living room full of stuff!! :yay:

Anyhow, so that's where we are right now. Our worker is going to forward a listing to us this week of some of the children now available in our desired age range. Our child is probably out there right now just waiting for us! It feels pretty good to know that we could be giving a child a brand new chance at a good life!! :thumbsup2

OK, REALLY! I'm going to go ketchup now!! :rotfl:
-Christal

I am so excited you are thinking of adopting a toddler.:woohoo: You both must be very special people. You brought tears to my eyes thinking of your first Christmas being a parent!! In my opinion, I can relate to toddlers much better than babies. I couldn't wait til babies actually became "real people.":thumbsup2 Hope your child finds you real soon.:grouphug:

Ya mean the answer was NOT Turkey Joes???

I'll see your Star Wars and raise you 2 file boxes of comic books and 3 boxes labeled "sentimental t-shirts". And yes, it all gets moved across the country (or 2) every 3 years.

Rule #1: Packrats should never marry other packrats.
Rule #2: They really shouldn't join the military.

We took the boys to see Carmen last month. We had to help Issac (5) understand what was real and what wasn't. I probably have the only 5 and 9 year olds who sing opera in the bath!

My 6yo sings opera around the house, 8yo doesn't. When we took them to the Nutcracker a few years ago, one of them looked at me 1/2 way through the first act and asked me when they were going to start talking.

I was a fashion photograpy and display major in college and can confess that I too love the smell of those nasty chemicals. Worst thing was finding the small cuts on your hands and fingers, Ouch

Gloves? We don't need no stinking gloves!
Wow, fashion photog! I bet you did way better in studio class than I did!

My favorite darkroom remnant was the XL formerly white sweatshirt that I threw on like a smock. Yep, the chemicals also 'develop' white cotton. My roommate wouldn't let me bring the thing into the house. They disected things all day, but couldn't stand my stinky chemical sweatshirt.

Ya mean the answer was NOT Turkey Joes???

Wow, otta nowhere with the turkey joe. Didn't see that one comin'.
:lmao: :lmao:

Just received this from a good friend who sends me such great email. I thought in honor of how yucky we all feel on Mondays, here's something to lift our spirits:

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height.
Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them."

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening,
whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's
workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is
with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets,
keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable,
improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9 Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next
county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10.Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments
that take our breath away.

Ya kno what....

.... this is really simply beautiful. This is why I enjoy wandering through here because it never ceases to amaze me in the things that are presented. Yeah, I enjoy following the everyday banter too - but these kind of thoughts
shared are rejuvenating.

As cited in #9 = today I took a meandering "guiltless" like trip to the neighboring county with my dog. I just took an afternoon to unwind and take my dog to a new dog park and go a wanderin'. It was really refreshing - and I sort of needed a little rejuvenating for what-ever reason.

Thanks so much for sharing this. Sorry if this represents another Ground Hog moment... it was worthy of being repeated - I suspect.;)

:grouphug: My prayers go out to you and your husband.

I spent four years in the Navy and took three cruises on an aircraft carrier. Each time someone did not come back from the cruise. It is sad.
:grouphug:

Thanks Brack.

Those carriers give me the heebie-jeebies. People just disappear into thin air on those things.
