It's a little slow today...I should be able to ketchup quickly!

When DH's GP died a bunch of us set out to search for the will. There were tons of boxes like you store files in up in the attic...which since this was a mansion in VA was a finished room that went the entire length of the house. We are talking 10 bedrooms more bathrooms than that, the dining room could fit 1/3 of our house in it....huge area to search. They had every single scrap of paper that they ever received including envelopes from every publishing house sweepstakes that they sent in. OY BOY!!! They made the ILs look tame...but at least it was all organized. Never did find the will...it showed up 1 1/2 years later.

I'm in the process of doing that now. My SIL suggested getting a dumpster. DB and I rented the largest one and cleared the house of junky stuff. Our ds was mad and said that I wasn't following the trust (I'm the excutor) and that I threw out everything that that our dad worked for. It was a lot of stuff that you wouldn't want to try to sell at a garage sale! WE even swept the garage. Hey if my db didn't know what something was..would I? LOL!

Of course I know my dad wouldn't of had a problem with what we did. I will be glad when it is all over and the house is up for sale. I got the house, but dd and I decided that there were to many memories there, plus we like our neighborhood.

Will be glad when it is all over and I don't have to deal with issues from 50 years ago. (I'm only 46! LOL!)

Good Morning everyone. I am so behind. I haven't been able to log in at work because our internet access was taken away until a few days ago and I was only able to check out the Dis a few times from home.

The lack of internet access is due unfortunate events at my place of employment. I work in the marketing department of a wholesale mortgage company that specializes in non-prime lending. We are privately owned and managed by a capital holdings company that owns other mortgage related companies. On March 15th, the holding company layed off almost 3,000 people, about 55% of the entire workforce. My company lost about 1,000 people and my department went from 37 to 12. Though I still have a job, they are moving us to another location, which will increase my drive by about 20 minutes, and that's if I leave the house by 7am. By 7:30 the traffic would be a total nightmare. The people who were laid off got 2 months severence and insurance coverage. I actually wish I had been let go so I would have 2 months pay while I looked for a new job. I hate that this is happening because this job has been pretty good to me - flexible hours, relatively good pay.

I know the jobs in this industry are market driven, but it was so hard watching everyone leave and the last two weeks, morale has been so low, that it's a struggle coming to work everyday.

Anyway, that's my story. I am glad I have the Dis and am now looking forward to this cruise more than ever.

Now to try to ketchup a bit.

I know how you feel. At one time, I worked for a large bank and one day not long after we had finished merging 7 banks into one, Our office got hit.

We all showed up one day and like 25% of the building got slips of paper that said to be at a mtg at 8:30. They were let go on the spot, given 15 minutes to gather stuff and get out...It was really emotional.

About another 10% (i was in this group) were given a different mtg time where we found out our jobs were ending withing two months and if we played nice and stayed until the end we would get severence..

Well i got the best of them.... I got a new job and started right away..My co-worker who was staying had to go out on maternity leave so i offered to work PT in the PM to keep work caught up. Of course the company treated that like my staying so i got to get severence when i finally left and i collected partial unemployment for a year (It wasn't much but it helped.)

I'm excited, we're driving down on Monday afternoon we'll be there Tuesday night. Jack is driving to Virginia and taking the Auto Train Sunday.

Thanks. It's hard watching people that you consider to be friends lose their jobs. One woman got laid off that's still on maternity leave. Still, I have a job.

Laura that would honestly be great, we love Test Track, esp. the STs, we love crappy food and we love Illuminations!! I also know Mark as the Over Planning Compulsive Disorder Gene and he'd plan well for us all!

Well, it was 1:30 am....some people were sleeping.

Even me & that's unusual!

They are reporting one fatality in Holly. Many many houses are just gone. Evidently the tornado that hit was 2 football fields wide!

Weather in our area is snowy, light dusting (about 1.5") but they expect the system to pinwheel around and bring a fairly good blow in some areas. Not supposed to be nice again until Sunday.

I saw that on the news today & they showed storm chasers with their footage of the tornados. Very scary!
