Oh yes the laundry lounge! I'll bring some booze! :hyper:
Looks I like I might break my promise and end up doing Laundry this vacation!!! If there is a party with you and Chrissy..........I guess I will force myself.:dance3:
I'll bring the blender!
I'll bring the disco ball....you don't have to do laundry or drink...we can just socialize!!!:rotfl2:
I was not sure about spouses and/or parents that are not on the DIS. I ordered lanyards for all but not sure how or if the rest of my family will get name tage so there still might be a need. :)

Does that include non-DIS family? Will this include our DIS names or "real" names; or both?
)

I will be happy to make tags for anyone..whether they are on the Dis or not...If they are not I can always put "Dis friend" or "Dis family" or I can leave it blank....whatever people want!:hyper:

:listen: :listen: If you could all say a little prayer for my DD..... she has a little operation tomorrow! I will be babysitting my DGKIDS.
Hope everything went well....

I think you're getting the whole sneaky thing down cold:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm horrible at being sneaky, specially if its for DH. He's VERY sneaky though.

The 'bathroom organizer' can have your names too to help with organizing :lmao:

Course this might not work if you've traveled together and organization hasn't been a problem before!

I am betting on having the cheapest/ugliest Fish extender on board.

My formula:
- One old white T-Shirt (cut horizontally to get a "loop")
- Fabric glue & some needlework to bind the sides and form the pockets
- Two wooden dowels for the top & bottom
- T-Shirt iron-ons for the decorations.

We'll see how it survives :cool2:

Love it! Why not leave it plain and hang a sharpie on the side and let us all autograph it with our Dis names? It could be the cruise equivalent of a cast!

What time should we be at the port if we're scheduled to leave at 4p? It seems to me that everyone is getting there before noon. We're coming up from SD after our wedding night and can't imagine that we will want to be up too early after our long day before. I think I've talked FI in to planning to be up in LA by 1p, but is that too late? Should I convince him that we need to be even earlier? I can come up with some excuse. :)

They will let us on the ship around noon, and into our cabins around 1:30. At noon you can eat and check out the ship, which is fun, and it really is nice to settle into your cabin when you are able (usually the luggage is later, though). The real motivation for getting to the port earlier than noon is to get an early boarding number and get on to try to get/change Palo reservations, dinner assignments, etc.

I really would suggest trying to get there between 12-1 at least so that you can settle into the ship a bit before the muster drill and sailaway.

Thanks Julie. My FI told our wedding planner our HM plans, so I'm going to talk to her about encouraging him to be there earlier than later! We'll see how that goes. Thanks again for the advice. :yay:

:lmao: They have alot of out of town guests throughout the year. So, they need the extra bedrooms (there are only 6 bdrms). Right now in their 4 bdrom it can get crowded at times. And they need the 2 libraries because they each have extensive book collections -- the libraries are off each of their bedrooms. All of the rooms are quite large so, their really isn't a large number of rooms for that size house.
They also have 7 grandkids. :goodvibes

Hey isn't Al *I'm Green* Gore that built a 17,000 sq ft house? :lmao:

BTW -- my home has a tankless hot water system which is a great energy/water saver!
I would love to have my own library:lovestruc
I hate getting rid of my books, but I'm running out of room:headache:
Next house has a library:thumbsup2

Monica, I am sure that you have said this before, but I forgot -- how much in advance of the cruise are we hoping to have the dates and times for the private tastings? And will we eventually have to sign up in some more official way (reservation number, etc.)?

Thanks so much to you and Laurie for doing this . . .:thumbsup2
I'm still playing ketchup here, so not sure if Monica has answered yet. DCL has confirmed that the tastings are do-able:woohoo: But the actual scheduling won't be until July or August I think:worried:

:listen: :listen: If you could all say a little prayer for my DD..... she has a little operation tomorrow! I will be babysitting my DGKIDS.
Said a big prayer Cheryl:hug:

You bet if you factor in , Black for embarkation and White for Panama Canal Day ...

pirate:
We got both:thumbsup2

My brother called today and told me that he was driving close to my house and wanted me to know the gas was $3.77 at the Race Trac by my house.

My brother is my own personal gas checker :rotfl2:

Nice brother:cool2:

Really, we are all living vicariously through all the excitement and intrigue of your situation -- thanks for including us!:goodvibes

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I didn't know we had gotten that far. Wasn't sure we had heard anything back yet.

Ok, so wasn't there talk about how wonderful it is to have mature trees in your yard??? Notsomuch yesterday. We have 10-12 HUGE oak trees in our yard. 50-60 footers. Big storm came through and knocked a giant branch down - probably fell 30-40 feet onto our deck and tempered glass patio table that seats 6. Table is shattered, a chunk of deck rail is gone.

We've had so much rain here in the last month that the ground is just completely saturated and trees are falling down. Huge trees are down all over our neighborhood - 2 are blocking streets and took power lines down with them. Our power went out yesterday afternoon and I doubt it will be back up for days.

On DH's way home yesterday, he missed being hit by a falling tree by 2 car lengths. He was right by Mount Vernon, heard a crash and saw nothing but tree in his rear view mirror. Truck 2 spots behind him was completely destroyed. The driver was OK, but get this, only DH and one lady stopped to help. The road was completely blocked and no one bothered to get out of their car to help. I hate this place for that reason...not because trees are falling down.

Oh and get this - they didn't cancel school...so the kids got on the bus, I came in to work & I just got a call that school was cancelled and I have to go pick them up. We work a freeking hour from home! The after-school program is keeping them, but we have to pick them up ASAP because the kids shouldn't be there without power. Huh? So why not cancel school this morning?? I really truly hate our school & district - for many reasons, but that's my reason for ranting today.

Anyway, I'm happy to report that we are all safe - but what a pain. At least we planned to go away this weekend anyway!

Oh M, I've had years like that. One night I was driving home in the rain and saw a Pine tree go down on the road like in slow motion. They banned a type of Oak tree in some of the towns in Volusia County after the hurricanes of 2004. Top rooters and they all fell down.

I definitely would fall asleep in the show. I can stay up later if I'm doing things, but if I'm sitting watching something, I'll fall asleep.
Watching a movie in the theater does it for me.
Has anyone heard if any of the prepaid plans/sim cards will work on DCL?

I have a global GSM phone that I usually use for traveling, but don't have a plan on it.

Dan

I don't think my carrier TMobile in part of the Cellular at sea program. BYW, check out the rates for making calls from the countries. The first list I came to on TMobile was for calling the countries and the rates were much lower. To call from the countries falls under roaming and is more $. Looks like it will be texting.

So I have a dilema...I'd love to get in on the FE, but I'm....
1. Not supposed to know we're coming....therefore....
2. Can't purchase and bring a FE with us.

Maybe you can contact one of our CA disers and maybe you can mail it to them?

It is fun giving out the gifts -- and trying not to get caught!

And don't forget the fun they will have checking the FE! I will just warn you that it is probably best to set some rules to avoid conflict regarding FE gifts -- my rule was that everything there was mine until I decided what to do with it -- they weren't allowed to even take anything out of there. I would check and then divvy up the goodies . . . avoided a lot of problems that way!

That's a great idea. Otherwise, my 3 would be sprinting down the hall, and checking each othe rinto the walls, on the way to the room.

It would be nice if everyone did not give out the first few days, so that we have things in there over the course of the cruise . . . on my Med cruise last year we made assignments but pirates don't like to be told what to do . . . so I'm not telling, but just reminding everyone that it is fun if it is spread out . . .:lovestruc Of course there are so many of us it is hard to believe that we could have a day with no deliveries.

We'll probably spread ours out over a couple days. We have one item that we have enough for 100 families, which will go to the first 100 signed up. We'll come up with something else for anybody else who signs up later, and we have something small for all the kids too.

DH and I are also engineers...chemical. We met in college when he was my TA! I haven't worked in ages, though, unless you count all the work I do taking care of the kids (which is more work than I ever did when I was working!). DH has worked for the same oil/chemical company since graduation.

Kim

I hear ya! Being a stay-at-home mom is very hard work. My oldest turned 13 today. Yikes! I can't believe it has been so many years!

Orders for Wristbands Are Now Open
and will close on Saturday, June 14th.

Basic Information.
Wristband will be available for .55 cents each. This is based on ordering 500. We have a head count close to 400, so extra will be ordered to get to 500. Who knows we may go beyond that!

Text on the wristband will read DCL 2008 PANAMA CANAL and have a small skull & crossbones on the left side of the text. (This was the winning text in the poll)

SizesWristbands come in 3 sizes:
L = 8 inches
M = 7.5 inches
S= 7 inches
To get an idea of the size you can cut a strip of paper to the above measurements and try it around your wrist. This will give you an idea of how it will fit once on your wrist. Remember the wristband will stretch to go over the wide part of your hand, but the paper strip won’t!

Colors
Choices are Red/Black or Lime Green (For the DIS fans, sorry Todd!)
You can mix and match sizes and colors. Just state the quantity of each size and colored desired.

Delivery
If you want your order delivered before the cruise I can mail them out to you. Up to 4 wristbands can be mailed in a business size envelope for 1st class postage. ( I will have to figure out postage on larger amounts)
Or I can deliver them on the ship or DL resort area pre-cruise.

Payment
If you would like your wristbands delivered on the ship we can settle up than. If you would like them mailed to you pre-cruise a check will work.

So please go to ORDER WRISTBANDS to order yer wristbands!

If I have forgotten anything, let me know!

I see it was answered already. We like to have lunch on the ship so we usually get there too early :rotfl:

Spoke to Cheryl and DD ok after the surgery. I'm sure she will give an update.

Thanks Arlene, I've been waiting for an update from Cheryl

As my DW (JunesGoofy) mentioned earlier today, she threw me a surprise belated 40th B-Day party when my family was in town this past weekend.

What she didn't mention was that it was NOT an over-the-hill party, but a Mickey party. ::MickeyMo How appropriate! She had giant Mickey balloons and Disney decor. You'd think I was turning 4, not 40. She tried to get WDW to ship Mickey Head Rice-Krispy treats, but they wouldn't do it because they contained chocolate.:(

And, yes, I had no clue that she was planning it.

Finally, she asked everyone to get me Disney Dollars for the TOAL!!!! :mickeyjum
Cool party:cool1: :thumbsup2

Well I took care of Fathers Day today. The girls and I were out today looking for a dress for Megan's 5th grade graduation tomorrow (nothing like waiting for the last minute). Anyway when we were looking for DD's dress I noticed they had a new shipment of Tommy Bahama shirts. Bill loves TB so I bought him 5 TB shirts and some dress pants as well.
I kept calling them Bahama Mama's so I am sure the salesperson thinks I am drunk hick. :rotfl2:
Father's Day:eek: I forgot:rolleyes1
Gotta go shopping Saturday:idea:

Oh I am believe you me! ::yes::

Seriously? I thought that was only shown in Boston.

Come on give it a try
we're gonna show just why.....
We're gonna teach you to fly---high:dance3:

:headache: :headache: I've seen quite a few trees down around us too, but nothing that serious. Glad your DH is ok:thumbsup2
Hope the weather cooperates for your weekend:flower3:

We aren't used to eating dinner much before 7pm our time....And if we had early dinner that would mean the 8pm show.... I couldn't watch one of the shows on a full stomach... I might fall asleep! LOL!

Same here, we LOVE late dining...it just works for our family style!

I have a few questions....
Can we have a photo section on the pirate board? I've been trying to take notes on some great ideas & suggestions but I know I'm missing answers when I can't keep up on the discussions everyday. I thought maybe a section related to equipment, photo taking and software may be helpful.
I have also been looking at the Olympus water/shock camera for the last few months, so I'm curious to hear feedback on it.

We bought one last year, the 770sw (I think thats the number) and we LOVE IT!! We bought it for our August DCL cruise, and used it there, at Great Wolf Lodge, and on the Magic in December. I must say we got lots of strange looks having a camera in the water!! We must of sold dozens of them!! Pics are great...honestly..you can't go wrong. I would probably buy one of the newer ones if mine was really old...but it's not!!
