Now we had our flights on SW go the other way! We booked last Thursday night for Sept 1 from MCO to Seattle. It's flight changing planes in
Albequerque (sp). We paid 135.00 each, I just checked today and it's up to 260.00 per person! :scared1: I was amazed!

The flights to Seattle are expensive, aren't they? We booked non-stop on Alaska in April and fortunately had enough mileage for 1/2 price airfare and 1/2 miles. So, we used 7,500 miles pp and cost was $153.13 pp from MCO to Seattle. I had been watching airfare for quite awhile and it was staying at the same price, then I finally told DH we had better book. Now I think I just want to get a frequent flier number for my 2nd bag since I will have to pay for it so that I can really benefit from all those miles!:)

I like the idea Roger. However, this rule scares me a bit - I can just see the participants charging all over the ship. How about a setting a time frame and each team completing the task gets an entry for a draw at the end to determine the winner?
I was going to mention at the beginning of the contest, that there would be no running. Maybe we will stagger the start times so no one knows how far ahead or behind they are.

Roger love the shirt , but geeezz its BLACK for Embarkation :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Great job by the way ...

pirate:

Thanks Todd, since I was neither embarking nor transiting the canal I chose white so the transfer came through the best.

Hey M - I found a pirate logo for you

Found it when browsing the sponsors for the Nor Cal Pirate Fest. Woo Hoo....I know what I'm doing in a few weeks

I went last year and had a blast. Didn't dress up because it was too dang hot. Not sure if I'll do Tia or just a regular pirate this year.

Hoping to find a suitable (inexpensive) baldric for DS's costume while I'm there.

Why are one way tickets so expensive anyway? Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a round trip than a one way!

Cool! We then have a 3 hour layover before our flight to Seattle.

Wow that is a long time in that airport... You could eat at the Gardunios (local New Mexican cuisine with green and red chile hehe) just outside of the security check. We often do that if we happen to get there too early. I think there's also a sports bar inside the security check but we haven't eaten there.

I some bad news about dinning at Ports O'Call Restaurant. I talked to the manager yesterday about reservations for 30-40 of us. He said if we have a group that large, he would have to treat it as a banquet with a fixed menu of 5-6 items :sad2: I then asked if we could make reservations separately and he said yes but we would probably not be seated together. So with this information could everyone wishing to have dinner at the port 8/16 give your opinion on the planning board.

Do any of the DL experts have any thoughts how doable it is to see all of DL and maybe a few things at DCA in 2 days (in August on Friday/Saturday!)? I have a feeling that we are going to have to skip Nemo if we want to see most of the rest ... Another option I've considered is buying a 3-day pass instead of the 2-day and using the one "Magic Morning" on Sunday. This would depend a LOT on when our DIS buses are leaving :thumbsup2 . If the park opens at 8am, we could maybe be there from 7am-9am and then run back to HoJo to catch the bus. I know at WDW's MK that a couple hours in the morning can get you on a LOT of rides.

Pamela

IIRC, you have no toddler to lug around. With a careful plan, and a dedication to being at the front gate an hour or so *before* opening, you should be fine. Like MK, you can do a lot before the crowds get going. Unlike MK, DL is a lot more dense than what you're used to. Stack your fast passes early in the morning (grabbing one every hour) and use them in the afternoon.

I'm sure you'll get lots of advice ok this one. PM me if you have specific questions. I can "talk" much better when I'm not stuck on my iPhone

:rotfl2: :thumbsup2 The only way I would even consider it would be if the Pirate Buses weren't leaving until 10am or later! Until we know more about how things are going at the port and how early they will let us in and can then figure out when the buses will leave, I won't be making a decision on this.

The only reason I started thinking about it is that it seems we need 1 morning to run to Indy, 1 morning to run to Space Mtn and 1 morning to run to Nemo! From the sound of the guidebooks I've been reading, by the time you've finished one of these, the lines at the others are outrageous (with Nemo being the worst) If we go with a 2-day pass, we really only get 1 morning run (Friday) since Saturday is a Magic Morning and we won't be able to do that with a 2-day pass. I suppose we could buy a 3-day just to get the magic morning on Saturday and just throw away the 3rd day (but my thrifty soul is going to have a tough time doing that! :rotfl: )

By Sunday, we should have a good idea how long it takes us to walk from HoJo to MK (we tend to be fast - we're the people that are always passing everyone else who is strolling along!) and I would only consider this if we give ourselves a good safety margin for getting back in plenty of time for the bus! Because we walk faster than most, we are good at getting through crowds - DH leads the way and DS and I follow in his path:rotfl2: I think DS actually trots his way through the parks keeping up with us!

See above, I'm having trouble posting this.

Hey Roger - I forgot to mention earlier - great pics and shirt!

I love it!
I have skull and crossbones hockey tape on my stick and I always wear my DCL pirate night bandana under my helmet, so I'd fit right in.

Last year, my teammates were going to send me to another team during a tournament. We played a team from Juneau called the Glacier Pirates - their jerseys had a skull with two crossed hockey sticks instead of bones. Very cool.

This is what I was trying to post:
Ok--here is how we do it to get the most out of our morning. Kids grab a breakfast bar and head out the door. Short walk from the HoJo, about 5 minutes to the light (we walk fast too), wait for light, cross very busy street, head to shortest line for bag check, shortest line for entry to park, send hubby off for a fast pass ride, (space mountain is a good one), then wait in the short line for non-fast pass ride. For the Matterhorn, people tend to go to the left of the mountain on the Fantasyland side, but if you hit the Tomorroland ride, next to the Nemo ride, the line is usually shorter. When we can get another fast pass, we send my husband off for another one. We typically leave the park around 2:30, or find stuff to do inside in California Adventure because it does get very hot in the afternoon. Come back around 5:30 and it is ok again. We also eat lunch around 11:30 to avoid the crowds, then while others are lunching,we are back on the rides. I don't know if this helps or not, but it works very well for us. You might be able to do the Magic Morning, but allow yourselves at least 30 minutes to get from the back of the park back to HoJo.:) Have fun!

Good Morning everyone!

I have played ketchup (it was easy since the board was down last night). I hope everyone enjoys thier day off unless you have to work then I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

We are hopefully having a day of laziness here..took me 2 hours last night to clean up after the party yesterday (how could I have used that many dishes?) but atleast this morning I woke up to a clean house. We may go see Indianan Jones today - we shall see.

Have a great day..one Monday closer to TOAL!

OK I gotta say it... Please don't use this without permission. It was created by one of my friends and is how he makes his living.

I also have to plug the Pirate Fest. It is run by friends of mine AND it's free
