Hello everyone.

Mark, Nicole (daughter) and I will be in Los Angeles (Hollywood area) on June 17 to the 20 - then up to Palm Desert for a few more days. While Mark is working, I was thinking that with so many 12 year old girls living in the LA area, maybe we could have a quick get together to introduce ourselves.

If this sounds like something anyone would like to do, please let me know.

Michele

Enjoy your Memorial Day, especially to the current and retired service men and women! Even though we do not mark today as a holiday in Canada, thanks to all those that serve, regardless of the country they represent.

We would have loved it! Unfortunately..we leave on the 16th for a trip to Yellowstone and WA state.

maybe someday we will find out about what days are what on the cruise.it might not be to we are on the ship

Question about what activities to expect... So Pirate night is on every cruise now, right? And formal night? Are there others that will most likely be on the cruise that we can expect even without an actual schedule? Since I'm a newbe, I have no idea what to even expect! TIA!

Nevermind, I found what I wanted from the Pirate Zone!

From what the Westbound folks had we will have the following

  • Formal Nights X 2
  • Semi-Formal Night X 1
  • Pirate Night
  • Tropical Night
  • Mexican Festia Night

Not yet :sad2: Their latest promise was when the WBers arrived here in LA. I guess that is time for Tom, Mike and myself to write another letter.

"Dear Tom (or Mike, or Roger):

When are you going to learn?

We are not going to share information with you. Never. Ever. Uh uh. Not happening, babe.

Do you understand us now?

Shall we be more formal about this?

MUST we put you on a blacklist?

Let us know, because we're ready to hit the enter key.

Sincerely, with much love and respect."

Is that a good enough approximation of the response you expect? :duck: :rotfl:

Was on my way home from hospital rounds and listening to Chicago Public Radio (another sure sign that I'm aging, whatever happened to the rock stations that I used to listen to?!)

Anyway, they had a great interview from the author of a web site that advocates using just a carry-on for travel. Says that he has been doing so for many years now. He has suggestions for what and how to pack as well as what kind of bags to use, depending upon the type of travel.

I just gave the web site a real cursory look . . . will look in more detail when I have a chance later. It really seems interesting, though.

You can check it out at http://www.onebag.com

Hope the weather is holding for all of you this holiday.

By the way, I'm not sure what you think, but I think that my letter deserves at least one "pirate"?! :rolleyes1

Thanks... Can you guys tell us what these each entail? I get the formal and semi-formal and pirate nights... What's a tropical or Mexican fiesta night?

How the heck do you pack all the stuff I've seen on all the "what to bring" lists in 1 carryon bag? Specially with a toddler? Geesh? Er specially with a toddler that has a prescribed formula - 45 four oz cans!

Interesting theory. I tend to pack light if there is a Target (or possibly WalMart) near my destination. For a 15 night cruise, I'll need one bag just for emergency supplies, or be prepared to pay $6 for 3 band-aids at the gift shop.

Mike, I really think that you should jump in here and help us all out. Since you a mere heart beat away from being the next Pope and the only one to receive a non-form letter from DCL, I think that YOU should give this a shot. :lmao:

Actually ran into DISer Seaulater on the dock yesterday and said because of cold weather it was transferred inside and no one went. :scared1:

Hey it was a balmy 60F yesterday and no fog.

So here are a few of your pictures from yesterdays sail away. There was no hoopla this year and we ran into only about 10 DISers watching her depart. All aboard was 4pm and the Magic pulled away promptly at 4:15. It was still fun to see her again.

Thanks for the pictures Roger. It just seems so more real that the ship is in California now!!:cool1: :cool1:

Your shirt looks awesome!!! I like the style of shirt too!! Nutmegman looks perfect on it.

As I mentioned above we ran into DISer Seaulater on the dock yesterday afternoon. She had just gotten off the boat yesterday morning and we got to chat. She said that once you got on board, there was no problem getting any Palo reservations including Panama Canal day. Guess that they held most of the reservations back. There were plenty of pins go go around. They still had pins available on the last day. Ducky Williams will be on the EB with us. Panama canal experience was awesome with the sub. Also there was no problem getting spa ressies once on board. I will remember more later.

I am soooooooooo excited Ducky will be on with us!!!::yes:: ::yes:: :cloud9: :cloud9: You just made my entire week!!

I some bad news about dinning at Ports O'Call Restaurant. I talked to the manager yesterday about reservations for 30-40 of us. He said if we have a group that large, he would have to treat it as a banquet with a fixed menu of 5-6 items :sad2: I then asked if we could make reservations separately and he said yes but we would probably not be seated together. So with this information could everyone wishing to have dinner at the port 8/16 give your opinion on the planning board.

I will go over there!!:thumbsup2

Wow, someone (unidentified) is working at DCL today! So here is their response today.
I am definitely on their trouble-maker list. :lmao:

We knew that a long time ago!!!:rolleyes1

We did these this morning!!! I think they turned out okay!!!:cool1:
