No lanyard for me either.... I either throw my card in my beach bag or I just have DH hold on to it.

Isn't that why i have a DH along? (to carry the stuff)

Dh and I are very rarely together during the days. And I don't carry a beach bag -- my goal is to never go outside the entire day when on the ship...........

DH usually takes 10ds to the pool while I do *activites* on the ship! LOL! And then when I find a family activity I want to do I round them up! LOL!

Ya, I guess I should've specified... Between the airport and the port

We're coming in the 15th and staying at HoJos(across the street from Disney). Planning on contacting Supershuttle for the trip from LAX to hotel. Riding on Captain Jack's Party Barge to port.

Oh and one more thing, her Mom was on the field trip with her and was going to let her sell our games back to the store. He Mom has our cell phone numbers and knew we were on the field trip!

And this is just middle school!:confused3

:headache: When I was a Senior in HS my sister was a Sophmore. She had afriend that my mom & I both suspected of stealing from us (she stole the necklace my parents gave me for my 16th b-day). WHen I saw her at school wearing my necklace and an outfit of mine my sister finally believed us. My mother called her mother and it turned out she had a TON of our stuff at her house. Including clothes that her mother had already altered!!!

Her mother said that *we gave her our stuff*. How could a mother believe that I gave her my only piece of REAL jewlery????? :confused3

Just like how could a mother believe that your boys gave her 14 video games?????? :sad2:

So with all this talk of transportation... Is anyone taking the DCL transportation? Is this a waste of money? Is it even too late to opt out so it doesn't matter now anyway? :)

We are using DCL transportation. That way DH never has to touch our luggage. ;)

I'm ok with the no '

I'm guessing that the $1 is for a lanyard only? Or does it also include the plastic pocket thingy? If not, could we order those too?

I am checking with Chrissie to see if she is doing those with the name tags..if not..I will take care of them.

So, in the mean time if some of you could send some pixie dust this way to help increase my excitement I would be grateful.:worship:

For some reason I'm not that excited either...... I'm sure i will be whent he time comes...but, for now... not so much. Of course a family that I was looking forward to travelling with cancelled this cruise and is doing the 5 day afterwards....so, that's part of the problem for me.....

Holy Guacamole you guys!! I was only gone all day yesterday and I'm buried here! :sad2: ;)
I'll never catch back up after the wedding and the June cruise.

SORT OF CRUISE RELATED!!
Okay though...I've been thinking.....I'm sure that some of you might have things you want me to check on, or maybe questions or whatever while I'm on that cruise.
What's the best way to handle that w/o me racking up a thousand minutes on the internet reading all these pages and then answering??

May I suggest you charge a measured rate for incoming messages and requests?

I thought the part where they planted flowers and plants that attracted mosqitos was interesting. You are in the hospital for yellow fever or malaria and purposely planted outside your window is a great bg mosquito magnet- and open windows. :scared1: OOPS!

I'm reading the grown up book "The Path Between the Seas" and the French were very good at doing some dumb things relative to the diseases:

  • they placed dirt around all their plants and filled it with water to keep the fire ants off, giving mosquitos place to breed
  • they believed the disease came from the dirt and there wasn't anything they could do about it (although some French scientists identified the specific variety of mosquito that was responsible for the diseases, their findings were buried by the political establishment who "knew" things better)
  • they had no sewers, so filth built up in streets/alleys
  • they put all their sick in common wards, so if you broke your arm, you were put in the same ward with contagious yellow fever/malaria victims. Once you were in the wards, it was basically a death sentence

The kids book (we have it also) is very good, but brushes over lots of stuff.

I also read David McCullough's Path Between the Seas book. Very detailed, but excellent. The French also put the bed posts in water which also bred mosquitos around the malaria/yellow fever patients. They were doomed from the start, not to mention that the establishment thought a trench dug from sea to sea like the Suez Canal would be better than locks.

Anyone know of any good books for younger kids? My son will be 6 soon, he reads at a fairly high reading level but is still a little kid and get turned off by books that have too many words on a page vs. pics.

I wish I did...I have a six year old who read well and would like for him have something, but the book for the older kids is probably a little advanced for him.

I forgot, I have a DS13, DD14 and DS16 to encourage him. I bet he will do it if they are together...

That's awesome. With another 13 year old boy there, he shouldn't back out!

Hey guys - jumped on to see if this connection was a bit faster. Just left Aruba. For those of you wondering - we did the Best of Aruba Island Tour. We went to Casibari Rock, Natural Bridge and the Aloe factory. I would SERIOUSLY re-consider this tour again - Cheryl - lots of busses and we wnded up going to the same place each time and had to wait. Sides - the Aloe factory - total waste of time. We spent almost an hour there and the tour would have literally been done in 2 minutes.

I managed to take some taxi rates down which are established rates. I will have to post later after cruise. Seems I can't download pictures anymore.

I think that either another excursion is best - have heard great things about the submarine - see & sea one if you don't have any problems with enclosed places.

Thanks! We were thinking of booking best of Aruba, but not now.

We are taking it from the ship to WDW ... I am not sure of the PIF date so until then you can opt out I would guess. I know the PIF date is this week.

WHere are y'all staying after the cruise? We will be at the GF until the 4th!

We will be at the Beach Club Villas until the 3rd. More then likley spending our two days at MGM (DD loves Rockin Roller Coaster) and Epcot...not much time to do much.

We are renting a car in Aruba..got one from Hertz for $50.00 for the day..pick up at the cruise terminal. We figured for the price of one of us to do one of the excursion..we could practically pay for the car. And the cost for the things to do wasnt much...figured best way to go.

You know the ol' phrase "Day late and dollar short?"

Well, that doesn't apply to you. Actually, you're two days late and a dollar short!

Sorry . . . you already missed the cut off. The prices went up Monday. :scared1:

No from the bus station in ARUBA...

Wonder if we could charter a bus for the 40 or so of us...?

BTW There still is room on the boats Monica....

Hey Monica.... If you need to go directly to the airport...I have a SUV and could get you there as we're going to Disney overnite afterwards....

If you go to the waterparks....We'll be at Typhoon Lagoon on that
Monday (1st) ...Maybe we'll see you there...

I know there's room, but for some reason I'm hestitant to go ahead and book.

I'll keep the ride offer in mind. All depends on what flights we end up with.
I was sort of planning Blizzard Beach since we haven't done it yet. We've done TL several times.

I loved the thought they would tunnel the canal through the mountains!

As of now - we have departed Aruba. Got to go take shower - I stink! LOL - not really but I feel like I do. BTW, many will be happy to know that Senor Frogs is literally 1 minute from boat. Can't get lost getting there to here and vice a versa.

Tina - DRM - got your message.

Gotta go check other stuff - will update later if I can.

BYE!

thanls i was thinking about taking this excursion. now what:confused:
