I thought that picture was Tom stalking a poor DCL CM while he tried to sleep...

NO... I am no stalker...

I really agree that we need to enjoy our time with family and friends. This was my favorite part of your post! :goodvibes

You know...

.... to me it means really a LOT. That is famly and friends. I sometimes feel as if we are fairly isolated in too many ways. My siblings are distant and caught up in thier own "issues" ... and Alicia's siblings are also distant and busy - however - (unlike MY siblings) ... they are all of similar age being only at most 4 years away in age. MY siblings are 11-15 years older... so they're hung up it seems with other things.

Now on the friends side of the equation - yes, we have local friends of a sort - but the folks I currently consider REAL close and old friends - kids I grew up with more than a decade or so ... they're definately further off and mostly busy with thier kids and agendas. We see them a hand full of times at BEST... and at worst we just do emails and a couple of phone calls a year!

I tend to have a little more time then my friends and family. Yes, I'm a SAHD and semi-employed nursing my business of 20+ years ... it's tough to get enough productivity if I can't travel as I had to in the past to maintain business... so with my time - yet NOT having enough time to like work 40 or 60 steady hours at work... I have time.

So - as far as things go - we're lucky to have some local friends who are evolving into really good friends. Same can be said here on the DIS too. And we're lucky to be in reasonably good health and somewhat free of the common issues that tend to hit everyone at one time or another (some more then others - no doubt). But I'm no fool.... the lull now is appreciated - and the turbulance of life is simply brewing and waiting in the wings. I know whats coming in some ways - and we're litely bracing for it ... while there remains that which is unknown yet brewing in the wings.

So for now while the going is good we're embracing it - and I have no qualms at encouraging anyone and everyone to do likewise. And while you're at it - try to be more patient and kinder to all around you. In the final analysis YOU are the primary beneficiary of "cooling your jets" sooner than later.

At any rate I'm rambling... this make any sense to anyone?

I know we briefly touched on the subject of sharing books onboard
Time to revisit it again?

Who is interested and how should we go about setting it up?
I guess we should also have a plan for anyone who wants their book back when the other person is done

:goodvibes

I usually only have one book with me and look to exchange along the way if possible. Sign me up please. :)

Well April ended poorly for Lisa. When I went to pick her up she was holding up her hand. The Coaches thought she might have broken it on her vault. I took her to an after hours clinic and they took 5 x-rays. They don't think it is broken (YEA!!!). It is currently splinted and she will just condition and do what she can do with the use of one hand for the next few days. Then hopefully on Monday she will be back on track. With Nationals a few weeks away - the timing stinks. Hopefully she will beel better soon.

hope she heals quickly.

Doing the PIF Happy Dance. Of course this is just from the TA. I will have to wait to make sure Disney has it posted. Our flights are booked through Disney so TA says we won't know times until mid July. I have nightmares of leaving at 5 AM with a bunch of layovers or not arriving in LA until mid afternoon. Waiting is so hard.
I have to send my laptop back to HP and probably won't have it for the 19th.:headache:  Our desktop is so slow and it is in the bedroom so I guess DH is staying up with me. But the warranty expires in June and I want it for TOAL so I can download pictures.
I finished my FE. I just have to take some pictures and post. It came out pretty well I think. Pirate fabric as the background and Mickey/Minnie heads on the pockets with a pirate flag and pirate chest.

yea you !!   PIF

At the end of this month, I'm celebrating my 25th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. Today, my school children surprised me with a special anniversary "lunch with the pastor" Disney style.
Here I am, walking my Mousekeeters around the building to the gym, where we all ate lunch.

that's so sweet

The luggage from this trip or the luggage BA has touring the world?

Yes.

Hate them. Someone is welcome to mine.

Guess I'll just wander off to the shunned portion of the ship now. Gettin' mighty crowded there. :rotfl2:

You can just pass that lobster right across the table, lady.
I'm conveniently already in the shunned section.

Think we might have solved the Ocean Quest puzzle...

DH says he distinctly remembers doors back into the "guts" of the ship from the Ocean Quest area. We figure, with the ship being sold out, and Ocean Quest being so small, they're going to put the 11-13 yo crowd to work. (Big enough to get something useful done, but not as much attitude as the teens... yet.) Possibly three or four crews - dishwashing, laundry, garbage sorting, and one crew playing in OQ - to keep appearances up - ya know?

We figure they'll be so tired, they'll come back to their cabins and collapse. No 11yo packs wandering loose around the ships. Brilliant.

That, or it'll be Lord of the Flies, and we'll wind up in Hawaii.

.

I put my money on Lord of the Flies.

If it is edible how about the other "Lucy" with eating all those chocolates to keep up.:lmao: :lmao:

Emus on a conveyer belt??
Yanno, I and a few of my close Disney friends that I go to the parks with are all pretty ick-ed out by the WDW turkey legs. I think those might be emu.

I know its not the Schoolhouse Rocks..but it has been stuck in my head for 2 days because somebody sang it to me on Tuesday!

pirate: "The Pirates That Don't Do Anything" pirate:

we are the pirates we don't do anything
we just stay at home, and lie around
and if you ask us, to do anything
we'll just tell you, we don't do anything

We sing that one a lot in my house.

This is a great idea...

... only problem with my reading material is I don't know if anyone would be intested in my SciFi / Fantasy yarns.

So here's the idea I came up with for bringing books on the cruise:

I'm going to go to yard sales this summer and stock up on cheap paperbacks, haul them along, then leave them on the ship! So anything I am done reading can go into the exchange and does not have to be returned! I tend to like spy/detective novels. My boys like sci-fi/fantasy.

Actually, how about I watch you meet and greet the tarantula:woohoo: Chances are I'll freak out drop it and step on it, accidently:rolleyes1

That's why I'm observing...from the restaurant area...with Julie... and some other scaredy cats...and a drink....or two:goodvibes

I definitely plan on holding the tarantula . . . just to point out, I will have already zipped by the time we are hanging out in Pancho's . . . your description of "Julie and some other scaredy cats" disturbed me a bit;) . . . as Andrew and I have pointed out I will accept being called almost anything except a wuss . . .

If I survive the zipline, it will be fun to hang with you in Pancho's while your crew zips!

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: for your support, by the way, Laurie!:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

About 3 miles from us, figure an F1. The May 3rd one a few years ago couldn't really be catagorized, they called it an F5. We got some golf ball sized hail, lots of wind. We knew something was coming,Harley gets a bit nutso  before the storms come in and I have to "medicate" him. :faint:

Wow . . . I'm glad last night didn't turn out badly for you guys . . . poor Harley.

Just popping in to say I'm down to double digits. I'm arriving on August 10. Only 99 days to go!!!!! :dance3:

Thanks for posting that -- we get to CA on Aug. 9, so we are in double digits, too!

That's what the exchange was like on the Med repo last year -- one person had the designated cabin and put a tote bag on her cabin during the day . . . if you were finished with a book you left it there (permanently) and if you needed one you could go by and find one you wanted.

Jo (ga9497), if you wanted to be the point person, we would just print your cabin number on our mini navigator as the location of the Pirate Library.

Ahh....

evidently I saw SOME of this - but MISSED something somewhere perhaps. And for the record I have NOT written anything to DCL yet... or lately. SO... as Tom31 pointed out .... I apear to be INNOCENT of any involvement with this particular allegation.

food_fight_john.gif

Now as for anything else ... that's open to question I imagine.

You innocent ? Never heard that one before :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Give me an excuse an' maybe I'll arrange fer da robot guy to come along....

NOW HOW CAN YA SLEEP WHEN WE'RE ONLY 390 AWAY FROM THE 100,000TH POSTING?

Ewww glad I didn't see that before I signed off last night.

I like the idea..........everytime I bring a book to read on a cruise, I never happened to actually read the book.:rolleyes1

Morningpirate: Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be MIA with all the Derby festivities. If yesterday is any indication, it is going to be a long one. I didn't leave work until after 11 pm last night. It was parade day. There are about 40 folks coming to our house Saturday to watch the races--everyone have their Derby pick? Mine is going to be the luck of the draw----(I have no idea who is racing--but a horse will win!).

So we get through this long weekend of partying and then my store remodeling begins on Monday. They are taking my gas dispensers out Tuesday. I told my contractor I sure hope I still like them once everything is finished. Going to take 2 weeks to get the new dispensers installed and all the repiping finished. For the remodel we are looking at 4 weeks--sure hope they keep on schedule---I leave for Hilton Head on June 15th.
:)
