I'm going through the list of events, etc. and being not so DIS-knowledgable, can someone explain the "Post card surprise mailing from DL before cruise" and how it would work to me?

We have had a volunteer or so for this, but not sure what to tell them, etc.

Okay........The flu finally made it my way here. I was up all night and now DH is on his way home with it!!!

We need to have warm weather here.

We have had a volunteer or so for this, but not sure what to tell them, etc.

Tom, I profess NOT to be an expert but I think that this was where someone from out here on the West coast would mail a postcard to kids from Mickey or other character about there upcoming visit. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Gang,
I had an uneventful drive from L.A. to S.F. But, after having a fun get together w/DS & all DGkids - including dinner out - I got food poisoning!! YUK!! So, now playing ketchup - here and w/my "to-do" list.
We were going into S.F. today to watch the Olympic torch relay - but that got nixed also.
Although a bit chilly - the weather is great and just going to be nicer and Warmer!!

Not sure if there are multiple but I asked at the beginning of this thread if I could do something on this from WDW in June.
I am not sure what is involved either.
Am I the one you are thinging of or someone else?

Also called a Fairy Godmailer on the boards. Basically someone at DL sends a postcard to the family. When I do it, I find out the person's favorite character and try to get the postcard autographed then I add in a little message like "can't wait to see you" or "I hear you taking your first trip to visit me". Something just to get the recipient exicted about the trip.

Andy (Verandahman) does them for DCL. He's got a direct line to Mickey and gets him to send DCL postcards out.

You'd need to provide at the very least name and address. Then it helps to know a favorite character and whether or not the recipient knows about the trip.

I've been listening to the news re the Olympic torch relay. It's just as well we didn't go - we had planned to take the ferry over to the city - thus being right at the Ferry Plaza - the announced route. Apparently they changed the route to avoid the protest groups - we would have missed it!!!!
