Ok this is for Saturday 4/26/08

I think an afternoon admission might be better to accomodate for anyone who is travelling to get there.

On the last two lines select first the pm slots. Then select second the exact time you want.

I am purchasing tickets for the 1:00 pm admission. We are planning on arriving at the institute in the late morning and exploring the rest of the institute first. We can all meet up at the cafeteria at 12 noon. If anyone is getting there early, we can meet up earlier.

ps what happened? can't have long threads anymore? so do the old ones get deleted or archived or what? I mean how does having several smaller threads help the board in anyway? I don't get it. LOL

Glad you're still with us Lady!!!!

Diane, your daughter must have been a smile tonight! CONGRATS!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

AWESOME!!! Tell her congratulations!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Congrats to your DD!

That is wonderful!!!! Congrats to her for this accomplishment!:cheer2:

How cool for your DD! Congrats to her!

Congratulations to your daughter Diane !!

AWESOME! Sounds like a fun night! Congrats!
Penny

Thank you all so much! I really hate to brag, but in this case I couldn't resist! :goodvibes We are so darn proud of her! This isn't the first time she's won an essay contest. Last time we all got to ride the trolley in the local Santa Claus Parade. That one could've been a fluke, but apparently the girl's got a knack for writing. Who knew? :confused3 :cool1:

HI Everyone...
remember me? LOL

Okay I'm kinda in panic mode here.
Have I missed anything important yet? like when can we start booking stuff? (as castaway club members/etc.) Are buses already filled up? what about us! LOL ahhhhhh
I have been getting stuff for the kids exchange thing- and now I don't even know if we're on it or not! guess I can give this stuff to my own kids if I have to... LOL

I'm also panicking because I'm not sure how we're going to manage this cruise now. :( I mean things were bad enough with new house and DH not getting overtime almost the ENTIRE year last year (which cuts our income in half btw and that's never happened in all the years he's worked there! figures huh?) -but then they also changed the vacation rules for him. He used to be able to take the vacation pay whenever he wanted- then take off for his vacation and just not get paid during that time- which works perfectly for paying way ahead for vacations right? well now they will only do either/or. If he takes the vacation pay now to pay for the vacation- he can't have the time off later to actually GO on the vacation- he's just being "paid off" for the vacation.
But if he waits and gets the vacation pay when he actually takes the vacation- that means we don't have the vacation pay to PAY for the vacation months in advance! ahhhhhh
I'm not sure what we're going to do.. and he's proposing we just go without him and I really don't want to do that. It's as much his vacation as ours plus he's the one working to pay for it! KWIM? LOL wouldn't seem right to run off for a few weeks on a cruise while he's home still working. that wouldn't be cool IMO

so I'm not sure what we're going to do but we've been waiting on this cruise for so long I am LOATHE to just bowing out of the cruise. we haven't vacationed anywhere this entire time-and if we don't go on this cruise we waited all that time for what? nothing! We gotta figure out something, even if we have to put some on a credit card which I said I'd never do... but never say never, right? LOL

How is everyone? didya miss me? LOL

Hi BIP! :wave2: Absolutely you were missed & there have been some references to your red t-shirt here & there! ;)

I of course shouldn't encourage anyone to use credit, but quite honestly we have every intention of paying off the cruise with our Disney Visa. There is a lot to be said for accumulating those Disney Dollars! ::yes:: I agree that you should NOT carry balances on your credit cards for long periods of time, but if you can pay it off fairly quickly it is not that much of a financial burden. However, if you keep adding to the balance without paying it off....that's where the trouble begins. Believe me I know from past experience! :rolleyes2

In any case, I hope you can still make it! :flower3:

dear pbager......:rose: .

..with great interest, i read your response. it has become my
feeling,..that no life..is a waste of time. ever. no matter the
how short the timeline is... & that there are
"dynamics" ..way beyond our meager understandings.

..lately...my strongest feeling...about gaining value/s thru life..
is~ simple awarness...leading to greater apprication...on what
can easily be missed, misunderstood and/or taken for granted.

recycle...is only a new concept to us..but has ..been around on
earth...for ages. therefore, any life, touching= connecting to
another...goes on..in mind & spirit.

on my side of the fence, i have loss alot of memories that depended
on what otehrs told me. and then there are those...that are no
longer...living but are very, very dear.

yes, i think your observation.."we are still losing way too many newborns",
is accurate. :sad1: . we - [ the staff ], were discussing...my work
related experiences.., and rightly so, they added its been 30 years. [ a
significant amount of time]...however, * not completely..cos our kids
were born..in the early/late 80's/ and lat 90's. what good is our fancy
monitors...when they are not there/or asleep {don't understand}..
the warning signs? ..with jordan..i "howled"...so she got immediately
reactions..& there you go..how sad..even if one lil'one..is deny
life...becos others..we pay $$$, was..not paying attention? sadly,
there have been alot more..lost. sometimes, there are worst things..
then dying..."damaging the brain". "we"..have been on both side of
the fence....blessings & great sadness.

..however, we have come a very long..way..in a short period of time.
back to the 1940's...& my family first born..never made it out
of the delivery room. A prefect baby...that required respiratory
support. my fahter talked how "hard"..the doctor "worked" to save
his life. curiously, i asked my father what he did? without even
questioning..."he dunked him first in warm water than cold".

its hard to believe, but the intensive care treatements/rooms,
were not around...until..the late 60's.

....though...no longer living..the nurses/doctors...i had the privileged
learning/working with..were developing..today...standards. we
can simple do better..by using them. & that no much to ask..or
hope for. education..is much like building the foundation and the
framing..however, without the nurse mentors'..there are no skills
for the knowledge application.[ i know this from those giving me
every single insight i practiced today.]. it's so :sad1: depressing,
knowing..so much "great" knowledge..is not being used..cos of
a system...protecting...their selfish interests. { blood $$$, by
my opinion].

not only life preserving but as easy..as pie...that is also the frustration,
of those ..doing the work...that knows better.

* tell me?....what do you think?..we have admins..allowing
nursing home candiates..be placed..in our ward..acute pysch>/
think its abuse?..or permitting clients admissions..without the staffing
available...forcing staff..to work over and over. how good can care
be..if the staff...is facing dangerous clients...& totally exhausted.
the same people...then will turned around..and scape goat..staff
giving. or how would like to be a young graduate..."told"..you have
...to do the life/death doctoring....in an intensive care unit..cos
the covering..dr. , has no icu knowledge..& i mean zero? where's
the real abuse is occuring? back to the future, ..

....some miscarriages..are nature way. i believe that, some
life systems..,while well-desigend...can be adverse-effected,
by alot of factors..like genetics. while there are too many...
miscarriages.....that could/should have been prevented.

a long time ago..in 2 separate incidents, there were 2 lil ' miracles
that...will always..stay with me. both were boys. however, in
medical circles..it is true..if a delivery...running into diffculties..
the staff..is hoping...for a girl...due to their abilties to over come
& survive.

* what raised the diffculties..levels..was the rn assigned to us..
was a nursery nurse..with very lil'ob experience. :faint: & it
got worst...from that. any ob nurses?...another...factor....was
missing his date..* he was in the "oven"..almost..a month over..
[ after 40 weeks..the life support systems..begin to deteriorate
...& we were in their "birthing" room...when we needed a c-section
and no doctors...in the hospital...with a baby head..way too
big...for his own good....:scared: , ..all i could do...was whispered...
to my wife, honey-we're in alot of trouble..& its all up to you. god
bless!..my lil'miracle worker...pixiedust: , so any dcl she desires, i am
happy to give. to me, she is the best.

however, iam  ...for the other losses..

It's amazing how far we've come since the 40's! I really would've thought they at least knew something about how to respirate? Dipping a baby in water just seems so barbaric! :guilty:

My DM was born a preemie in 1929, and she was just over 2 pounds. She told the story of how they put her in the oven drawer to keep her warm! :scared:

I think many of my mother's addiction problems throughout her life were a direct result of low self-esteem due to serious learning disabilities that were never diagnosed. Not that I have a degree to be diagnosing, but it just seems as if she always angry & she would often comment about how she left school because she was just dumb & couldn't keep up. :sad2:

Anyway, I'm so glad everything turned out okay with your loved ones LG! :flower3:

OMG that is too funny Crash! I hope Stace's DD knows what's she's done now! :rotfl2:

Thank You Paula for your kind thoughts. I too share your beliefs that my Mom is looking down on us and smiling with how we've done. Alas, the question posed cited "what IF we could go back to a point in the past?"... and that drew my thoughts to this whimsical possibility. The other date I would love to go back to is the evening of our first kiss - my spouse and I. THAT was kind of fun... and memorable. I was sitting on a sofa watching a movie with my then girlfriend of 6 <SIX> weeks ... and I asked her .. " now why haven't YOU asked me for a kiss yet? I've never had to ask a girl for a kiss before?"... and Alicia replied ... "<she> does NOT ask boys for kisses".... where upon I sort of rolled my eyes and ... we ended up NOT meeting our friends that evening. <wink> And Alicia was the only girl (friend) whom I asked for a 1st kiss. And I waited 6 weeks until that 1st kiss.

That is one of the sweetest stories I've heard in a long time! Who knew you were such a romantic?

We'd love to have you guys there! We figure the more the merrier. And obviously just show up in your attire for the day. We'll accept beach wear, pirate garb...heck, i guess we'd even let the guys in thongs, pumps, and tiaras show up. Imagine those wedding pictures!:scared1:

Mike, are you SURE about this?

I sent JUSTME - "the daughter" a PM copy of it!

Just got back from an awards ceremony hosted by the local Masonic lodge. DD won an essay about George Washington & apparently old George was a Mason and is now quite revered by the modern day Masons. All the winners and their parents were invited to a sit-down dinner and each student had a chance to read their essays to the audience. There were a total of 4 winners out of 74 entries from the 8th grade class. DD won a $50 savings bond, $25 gift card to Staples, $10 certificate to a local sub shop, free tickets to a magic show, an invitation for the family to attend a Masonic pancake breakfast and she even won a door prize of a Foose ball table! :cool1:

It was a fun evening and everyone was really friendly and welcoming, but those Masons sure like to make a lot of toasts! I never sat down & stood up so much at a dinner before in my life! :confused3

Oopps!

I somehow missed this Diane! I'm usually a little better about catching things more or less.... I must declare my Innocence in this matter... and with that, may I offer belated:

congrats.gif

good morning everyone! hope you are all having a great weekend! busy doing laundry here...and picking up the house. yuck! let dd have some friends from dance over, and they have made a mess!!! now they are mad cuz i'm making them help pick up! grrrr!!!!
oh well...enjoy your sunday!

Shannon......I feel like I am always walking around the house picking up after other people! That stinks on your day off!

Tell your dd you are not the only mean mom.....my dd is cleaning her room today too!

OK... time fer me ta go while the "gettin'" is good...

today was an exceedingly pleasant day...

We spent it with old friends of mine - whom I've known for well in excess of 3 decades...

.. our kids played all day and simply ran amok with cheers and chuckles while we sat about and "talked story"...

and the rain is here - but not all so bad during the drive... but at 4Am it's kind of pouring steady....

... so now that I'm getting sleepy again... it's time for me to slip away into blissfully pure and innocent rest...[/CENTER]

I am envious that yal are able and take the time to spend so much time with your friends. The 4 of us do almost everything together but the really only friend time we have is when we hang out w/ our neighbors who we really like. Of course in Dallas, there is not that much recreation to be had.

I need to be doing some office work but I am doing massive amts of laundry. Truth be told, I am just delaying having to work - I am very tired of having to work so many hours. Come on March!

I have been here, I thought you were lost in a different dimension in time and space,??? how you doing?

time_travel.jpg

Hey Andrew.... sorry I didn't respond to this one. I was running prettytight on time and had to litteriallydrop what I wuz doin' and just scoot. Alas, I have found this and am replying now.

And, thank you - I seem to be doing OK now. I'm still faintly feeling fickle about life and otherwise... our friend has confirmed her renal cancer is kicking up again - and her hopes for 20 years more are only a faint and remote possibility. Alas, there is hope... and for that we pray and stand silently in support of her. The other evening we swung by and spent some quality time with her family.. bought her a few tasteful beanie caps and our kids ran amok for a while. Times like that seem - on the one hand oddly difficult - and on the other hand we're so glad we were there to cheer her and her family up in person.

Aside from that.... business has been good ... and I've enjoied winning a few fun things off ebay in recent days. How you doin' on your side of the Pond?

[ed]...!

Truth be told...

I've lived my whole life within a rough 100 mile circle of where I was born ... and the friends we called on yesterday was just a good High School friend of mine. When ya stay put for long enough you just might retain a link to a few folks from your distant past. And would ya believe it if I said I often feel we're not so good at knowing some folks who are decent sorts but close by?

Now as for recreaton... yesterday we didn't do anything special recreation wise. We just stayed in the house and talked about various bits of nonsense. Nothing more. And that can be done anywhere on the planet by my simple reckoning.

Yannno, I have been thinking of becoming more active in the community - but I've not had a proper idea of where to begin - or what/how I'd LIKE to begin... which might be more important.

Well... come to think of it ... we are about to have our first Gril Scout Daisey Troop meeting this wednesday, and I think in march we're gonna have our first Brownie Troop meeting too. So this might present a new avenue to get busy locally.

Now I imagine, girl and boy scouts must be everywhere in this fine land of ours, right?

At any rate, what do I know.
