We're working really hard, he's obviously working really hard, and the extra support at school can only help even more.

OK i'm officially jealous Mike. My dd needed serious help in 6th and 7th grade and we went round and round with the school district and they wouldn't help her unless i pulled her out of honors and let her fail two classes. I ended up paying close to $5000 for her to go to Huntingdon. I was so fed up with the system.

:headache:

Thanks Diane & Lisa. It went well. DS will go to the resource room for help with his reading and writing. I'm really proud of him, because his writing grade went from an F in the first marking period to an A in the second! We're working really hard, he's obviously working really hard, and the extra support at school can only help even more.

That's fantastic! Congrats to your DS!

Just saying hi..

and sending hugs to everyone who needs it...seems like a stressful day for some.....I will be thinking of all of you....

We're off to the school soon, for a meeting about the oldest one's IEP. His 3rd grade teacher, who was wonderful, identified an issue and requested testing about this time last year. They finally got around to getting everything together; they say he has issues in Language Arts (which we already knew). Today, we'll find out what his plan is.
Mike, it was a pain finally getting an IEP for Adam, then 2 years later having it cancelled beacuse he was 1 point over on a test score--finally got it reinstated for medical reason ADD. But it was well worth all the aggravation. Hope it went well today.:)

When DS10 was about 6 and couldn't swim, the life guard at camp told him he could not go off the diving board if he was wearing a bubble, as in, kids who wear bubbles can't swim & therefore can't go off the diving board. DS heard, you can't go off the diving board if you're wearing a bubble...so, he took the bubble off & went off the diving board. Darn near drowned.

Makes you swallow your heart sometimes! :scared1:

Glad it went so well:goodvibes My DD Kelly was thrilled when she got her first A in Math after struggling for so long. It's still hanging on our fridge:lmao:

ok has anyone seen the new "spring" OREO's

My dh's intial thought was....OK who pee'd on the cookies...

(Their creme is yellow BTW)

Glad it worked out. You all know I've been fighting the IEP fight lately so I feel for you.

Just got DS a Toothtunes last night. The deal was he had to promise to bursh every morning and night otherwise I'd take it away. It's a Hannah Montanah one.......DS has his first celebrity crush...:rotfl:

Why would someone think that silver was an acceptable remedy??
Interesting.

Hannah Montana! I liked it before and yes - I'm admitting I like it. Actually, I like her daddy! :lovestruc DD Megan thinks he's Hot! She also says I'm not allowed to say that. OK - he's got nice hair!

Apparently, the man said that when his dad would get a cut he'd put this on and it would work miracles. So when the rash came - he put it on with the same thought. Men! :sad2: Now he has to live his life in the blue zone.

OK I Know - bad - just couldn't help myself - my evil twin came on for a second!

My son--otherwise known as Mr. Information sends me a text that says---We can move around now

Wow - at least he let you know. Mine would have said - you'd be stuck to the tv or come in blazing your pistols and gotten me so I didn't think I needed to tell you. This AFTER the fact of course.

Seriously, glad things worked out for you.

Thanks Julie. I was hoping you would reply. My SIL passed away last night and she is the only one able to go. My DH has an appt with his Dr tomorrow and is too upset to make the trip as this hits home pretty hard .Not only that but he would be a mess to boot.

Arlene - so sorry you have to go through this  - at least one of your family is going to represent. We're all here if you need to post - Sending prayers and pixiedust: out your way hoping you all feel better soon.

That was almost an issue here too. Every other grade that he had was an A or B. They did a lot of tests, and he was off the charts on a couple things, basically an average kid on most others, but there were glaring deficits in his langauge arts skills. Just because he wasn't failing miserably in multiple subjects, they debated whether or not to give him an IEP. He went through three tiers of interventions, but is still way below where he needs to be with his reading and writing. It seemed like a no brainer to me. But his teacher said that he improved so much that he probably doesn't need one. Luckily, the psychologist, reading specialist, and principal looked a little more closely at his situation.

Here is the eclipse of the moon tonight. Sky is clear but it is 12 degrees out.

Cool! Thanks Cheryl.:goodvibes

Me three..... OK so where's the eclipse part? or is that later this hour?

the Earth passed over starting about 9:00 pm here on East Coast. If you're seeing the red moon, that's from the sun light bending around the Earth. That red stage should last until close to 10:45 when you will be able to visually appreciate the Earth moving past again.

I fume a bit and when I get over the initial anger, it usually comes out with a little sugar;)

Todds reply sounded exactly like what my DH would have said to me:lmao:

That must be the woman in all of us - I talk big - but sometimes the sugar wins over the roar.

As for Todds reply - I thought he was just being very Capt Jack! You know - Don't Rock the Boat Baby!

Then again - it could be the Venus in all us women.

Speaking of which - did anyone just have any trouble with DIS the last 10 minutes? Could not open it for anything. Oh well, blame it on the lunar eclipse

It was so funny- I get the whole family out of bed to look at the eclipse and almost all of my neighbors are out too. :)
It was really cool to see but it is kinda cloudy here so it looked like the moon was just behind the clouds.
We have in the low 70's here so at least we were not freezing watching it.

DS10 is trying to figure out how to cost effectively build roads with embedded electromagnets for his hover craft technology. (that he plans to invent)

there's gonna be lots of trouble on the TOAL.

They have a bunch of that exact stuff at Star Wars exhibit
